I'm a little confused about the application of the epoxy on the shim in the second installation method. Generally, I thought getting glue on the truss rod should be avoided (excluding caulk or silicone to reduce vibration). In the video it sounds like you're gluing the shim to the top of the truss rod (since you're taking the time to scuff sand the top of the rod). I'm sure you still need to keep the epoxy away from the rotating portion of the rod, but are you actually gluing the rod to the shim and then the sides of the shim to the neck? Thanks!

Why is it important to not get any fretboard adhesive into the channel, but it's ok to use adhesive to put a shim/truss rod in the channel?
