  • I hate cleaning windows and needed to find an easier solution to this recurring chore. Karcher UK have kindly lent me one of their Window Vacs so that I can make this video.

If every company had a "Peter Parfitt", they could fire ALL of their "marketeers" for sure! Because there is NO greater "Natural" salesman; than our Mr Parfitt. As sure as the sun comes up in the "marnin" no less. We are blessed to have him showing us "how" to do it. Praise Jesus!

I agree, excellent video! I'm stupid where gadgets are concerned but even I can follow Peter's instructions. I've only just purchased my Karcher V5 window vac but I've used my brother's which he's had for years. I found it very efficient and fun to use. It's also really light in weight which is important to me as I'm 80 and arthritic. I already have a Karcher jet washer for the patio & that's been going for years too although I leave that to others to use now. Thank you Karcher & well done Peter for a great demo.

Hi Diana, Well done for still doing the windows and I really do not blame you letting someone else do the patio. Take care. Peter

Had this for over 5 years now and use it regularly. It's fantastic. I've never seen the extension poles though, they look useful. Thanks for the videos Peter.

Excellent review! I've just bought the new Karcher WV6 that has a longer run time.
I will be reviewing it soon on my channel.
I owned the WV5 but sadly it stopped working after 2 years I also own the anniversary edition. It's a great little product.

Had one of these Karcher windows cleaners for years and found the vac tends to leave marks so have to finish with a glass cloth, they may have improved over the years. Also good for cleaning tiles.

I bought one about 5 years ago to remove condensation from the inside of our cottage windows each morning. Still works great, although a dehumidifier dramatically reduced the issue.
I recommend anyone in the northern hemisphere invest in a dehumidifier - it will improve any home making it feel much warmer and comfortable. The byproduct is a supply of demineralised water which is perfect for your steam iron and car radiator 😁

Bought one of these at Screwfix Live 3-4 years ago. It was ok for a few months and I even bought the optional narrower head for fanlight windows but it started playing up and refusing to re-charge.
I took it to local Screwfix who without hesitation replaced it on the spot. A few months later same thing happened, took it back and again they replaced it. With another new one. By the time I had got to the 4th replacement I was getting mightily pissed off and when that one packed up and I took it back they told me they no longer dealt with these issues in house and I would need to contact Karcher.
I pointed out that my contract was with them and not karcher and it wasn’t my place to chase the manufacturer. I ended up having a stand up row with the branch manager who when looking through my wedge of receipts of replacements said the warranty was expired. I said I only had the damn thing 3 months to which he said ah but the warranty runs from the original purchase date.
I ended up calling Karcher from the shop and was on the phone for nearly 40 minutes. Although they would not admit it as such it is obvious they have a real problem with the battery or charging system of these hence why Screwfix wanted nothing to do with replacing them any more.
Eventually they sent me a label to parcel it up with and I had to take it to a courier drop. By the way it was going back to Czechoslovakia or some such place so not German engineering at all.
It took about 3-4 weeks to receive a “ refurbished “ one that after a few weeks I managed to drop it just a couple of feet from the ground whereupon the clips holding it together all snapped
These are extortionately priced junk. Other makes are now out there so look to one of those. I have sworn never buy another Karcher tool ever again.

Daniel García No they are responsible for making and selling substandard goods. You think that 4 faulty machines is bad luck? Karcher were well aware of this common well documented issue and chose to ignore it and continue using cheap parts to sell at a premium price. They obviously had a lot of duff stock to use up at consumers expense.
As for the breaking, again cheap materials used, very brittle and liable to breaking. I accept full responsibility for dropping it but from 2 feet onto a carpet covered concrete floor do you think it’s acceptable to shatter at this price.
Karcher used to be a premium brand but now their goods including the newer pressure washers are shoddy at best.

I bought one of these when they came out quite a few years ago now I guess. Initially when I got it I was cleaning everything is sight, including interior wall hung mirrors, shower screens etc but I came across a problem when using it on windows. First impressions were good and they looked clean & shiny but when the sun was on them you could see that streaks left by the edges of the vac head squeegee. Thought maybe you do in fact need the Karcher cleaning liquid so bought this & the applicator bottle but unfortunately no better. Tried a new squeegee blade but no better so went back to elbow grease and a microfibre cloth. Worth buying thou if you have a lot of interior mirrors / glass, does make the job a bit less of a chore.

I think that the cleaning liquid is actually the issue. Most window cleaners these days don't use anything but water (they get a resin for the water to soften it) to clean windows because of the streak issue.

    • @NewBritWorkshop

Yes, Rico is right, we did employ a professional window cleaner when we first moved in as we were so busy and he used plain demineralised water and there were no streaks. Peter

Looks interesting but unfortunately not available in the US, only the WV1 model is sold here at this time according to their website. I could certainly use this in the sunroom which is 16x16 feet and all glass floor to ceiling. With the extension it would be good for cleaning the outside of the glass too which I currently need an 8 foot pole to reach the top glass.

@@NewBritWorkshop Yes, completely agree that it was a pointless comment!
Thanks for the video Peter, very well put together as always.
I have one of these Karcher units and have found it of more use for the inside glass, as on the outside it doesn’t matter so much if the water is just squeegee’d (?) off. I don’t use the spray thing, instead relying on a flat mop on a pole dunked in a bucket of hot, soapy water. Karcher and other such companies, and I don’t blame them for trying, will always try to up-sell the various potions to be used with their products. (I also have a Karcher jet-wash…). But, back to this unit, it does a fine job inside or out. Regards, Colin.

Hi Chris, From my experience you should not expect to get any streaks. Perhaps check that you have the right dilution of the supplied concentrate (I think it was 100:1) and also avoid doing any window work in direct sunlight. Peter

Hi Michael, We get streaks with our old fashioned squeegee and so after using it we then give a very quick rub with either a microfibre cloth or a ball of newspaper (great tip this) ! Peter

@@NewBritWorkshop Don't use newspaper as the oil from the ink will transfer to the window. Use newsprint (which is unprinted newspaper) or fresh kitchen paper towel.
