    Can you share more about the bolt sizing and what kind of nut did you use in the shoe + sizing of the drill.

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад +2

      Unfortunately, I'm lacking the tools to give precise measurements here, but I'll do as best I can:
      - I'm not fully educated on all the hardware available, but it's my understanding most brands use similar "t-nuts" to attach soul plates to the boots, notably. All the stuff I've collected through years of skating differents brands ended up being the exact same when I started digging into the old boxes of gear. I did a quick online search just now, but it doesn't look like shops sell these separate. If you have old skates/plates laying around, they might offer what you need though!
      - For the drill, I used a rather slim one to make the pre-hole (using the plates as a guide to drill through), and then a rather bigger one for the actual hole (0.5cm if memory serves, but it might get confusing if EU - US use different standards though). Honestly, you'll figure it out quite easily once you get at it! My main recommendation is just to use a drill that's slightly bigger than the t-nut receptor (your eye will do the work) so you can squeeze these in easily.

    use a runners lace for that new whole you got from taking the strap off and it'll help really sinch the laces down and help 110% to not have that heel lift. just look it up i swear it'll change the way you feel your skates. this was a cool mod here with the souls!

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад +1

      Just looked into it, runner's loop look like the way to go indeed! My only concern is that the knot on the outside of the shell may suffer after the repeated falls which will inevitably occur. So far I've been using quality waxed laced (courtesy of Adapt brand) and they're both durable and highly efficient, no heel lift whatsoever. Recommended purchase!

    • @stosi6073
      @stosi6073 4 года назад +1

      @@freddywhite yea that would be the maybe the only downfall with the lace but yes i have some hockey waxed laces and they are so freaking good! i would def recommend a purchase of waxed laces too!

    thanks you 👍🏻 I hesitate between the method you suggest (there are also the Sliqx) or cut the frame and fix an aluminum soulframe of kizer. The difference? it seems to really slide in topside with the aluminum soulframe 😃

      Wohaa OK that's the next level mod, I know of a handful of people who removed the frame entirely, quite curious to see what the experiment would look like with the aluminum setup!

    Po tym jaki mi się wycierają płozy w moich Aeonach to bym chętnie zrobił taki patent ze sliderami bocznymi.
    Tylko żeby to się utrzymało trzeba by było dremelem wjechać w ściankę płozy, co może naruszyć konstrukcję rolki.
    Na razie strach, że taka płoza pęknie przy większym gapie skutecznie mnie powstrzymuje przed tego typu operacją.
    Jak mi się płozy tak wytrą to spróbuję, bo mam te soulwingsy :)

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад +2

      For a first attempt, I would recommend doing it on an older pair of boots where the original souls are fairly worn down already, so you won't stress out about damaging the skate too much. But the process is actually so simple, you can also do right out of the box: check out the video tonight, and hopefully that will answer all your questions!

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 3 года назад

      Actually made that video last summer, before Sliqx went public. Curious about them tbh, however, I'd rather not interfere with the boot/frame groove alignment as it's perfect for me as it is.
      Also thinking, for all the people riding the 60mm shell, that doesn't leave you with too much frame space to lock topsides on.
      My two cents, in the meantime, something else in the works hehe!

    • @tobyschnabelhuber
      @tobyschnabelhuber 3 года назад +1

      @@freddywhite I am riding the Sliqx on the 60mm shell and love them. I totally see what you mean about boot/frame alignment but no issues there for me. I was also afraid about cutting down the frame space for topsides, but also there zero issues; I couldn't really tell a difference. Edit, in case anyone cares: I had another look and the Sliqx Plate is a bit narrower in the backslide area so for groove tricks you do not grind on the sliqx but on the backslide area of the boot. So it should not affect groove tricks at all.

      @@freddywhite So basically you suggest not to do either of the mods (from this guide or Sliqx) on the 60mm shell? (Or to think about it twice?) I thought Sliqx would add slightly less than the kizer mod... ... If topsides would be a bit harder I don't mod my 60mm skates - at least for now. Something else in the works? Any results? :-D

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад +6

      I can see the appeal, yet to me the best part of the skate is being able to get your feet as close as possible to the wheels thanks to the all-in-one shell. Might not mean too much if you're skating the 60 shell, but on the bigger wheels that really makes a huge difference! Plus, in my opinion the frame & groove alignment is pretty much perfect for flat skating!

    • @vinceamir7236
      @vinceamir7236 4 года назад +3

      @@freddywhite for sure it's a plus for the bigger wheels shell! I try different setup and im stuck with 58 to 60mm and anti-rocker, i really think that Usd did an amazing job with the Aeon. Now we have a lot of option compared to 2000's and that's good for the well being of the inline industry!!

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад +3

      @@vinceamir7236 Cheers man! Honestly, the 60 shell looks so good for grinderblading, I can easily see the appeal to "stick" to that boot! I've seen people getting all surgical on that one, separating the souls and frames from the boot, and then adapting it on other models! Looks like a lot of work, but quite an interesting experiment too!

    • @freddywhite
      @freddywhite 4 года назад

      And I can see the appeal to that, as well! The homie Erik has done such mods, I believe there's actually a video somewhere on the Hedon channel too. From seeing these in person, I can honestly say they look mighty good indeed!

    • @pjsanab
      @pjsanab 3 года назад

      Perhaps a Sway Soul plate or another similar soul plate can be purchased to be cut and shaped with a dremmel. It will do exactly the same.

    • @pjsanab
      @pjsanab 3 года назад

      In theory the sliders should be made of UHMW plastic. A 12”x12”x0.25 costs around $25.
      This can be shaped how ever you want with a dremmel. Interplastic sells them online. Maybe Homedepot has them. With a 12x12 sheet you can create sliders for at least a few pairs. Just use a cardboard to draw the shape and cut. If you really into it you can draw it on autocad and have a company make them cheap for you.
