    If I ever get aggressive skates it’ll be because of you, which means you’ll be held personally liable for any injuries I sustain as a result 😂
    One of the things I love about your channel is how much you enjoy experimenting and discovering new and different ways to enjoy skating. Keep it up!

      Thanks for that _great_ compliment! In fact, it’d make paying for your recovery totally worth it. 😄😉
      Experimenting and discovering new things to try is precisely why I love inline skating so much. 😊 It truly feels like a never-ending adventure.

    Oh man I can imagine it will be hard to learn to grind with these, 72mm is pretty massive for an aggressive setup, but that speed is what gets you hooked.

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад

      Yeah well, I’ve tried 57mm once and hated it. Too small, too slow. I’m riding 68mm on that 72mm frame, so I’m a little lower and have less risk of wheel bite. (Not my idea, bought it like that.)

    Congratulations for the backside stall. I don't manage to do it yet. Have you seen one of Ulf's latest videos were he makes a frontside stall, then does a 180 an lands again on the coping with a backside stall? He is incredible!

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад

      Thanks! The trick for me was placing my feet parallel to the coping or the ledge, so I don’t have to do a 180.
      Yeah, Ulf’s raising the bar _all the time_ for the rest of us. :-D The man’s a machine.

    They look great! I've tried the Aeon 60 and 80 (I love the 80), but need to try the 72s. Judging by those stalls I bet you'll be grinding soon. Nicely done!

      Thank you! 🤘 Yeah, I hope to make some progress with grinding when the weather gets better. I’m riding 68mm wheels in that 72, to make the setup even lower and lessen the risk of wheel bite. (Not my idea, I bought it like that.)

      @@XmerlijnX I had the USD Sway 57 myself. Didn't like it. Those wheels were too small for me. The boot felt heavy. And I've a size 42, so my feet would swim in a 44 and I'd have zero control. Nah, I'm gonna stick with that Aeon 72. Too much fun. 🙂

    This is also what I have been thinking about, finding a really solid aggressive/ freeskate hybrid that is still very capable in grinds. I am really curious what hardware is used to get the CJ cuff mounted? Thanks for the video!

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your comment! I guess the original owner just unscrewed the stock cuff and replaced it with the CJ cuff, using the originals cuff bolts. That’s how I gave my Seba CJs a new (red) cuff as well. (You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/ZHK_6JM9hcI/видео.html)

    Hey mate, did you have to extend the holes in the seba cj cuff in order to install it on the usd aeon? I'm having a really hard time fitting it, thinking of a heat gun or drill.

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад

      Okay, I've received an answer: he didn't have to do anything special, the cuffs fitted right away. Now, when I changed the cuffs on my own Seba CJ Primes, I had to push and pull real hard to get the holes aligned, so I could get the screws in...

      In case anyone looks for this, the CJ cuff doesn't fit the "named" aeons, i.e. Takeshi, etc, it'll only fit standard (older gen) aeon 72 shell (probably 60 as well). Most "named" aeons have gen 2 cuff receiver (with a little pin), it's a minor change but it changes the position of the cuff receiver so you can't fit CJ cuff.

    I'm surprised that you rode some rough terrain with such small wheels at the very end of the video! I didn't know it was possible!
    To be more precise, I'm talking about 4:13. How come these tiny wheels didn't get stuck in those wholes!?

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад +3

      I’ll let you in on a little secret: the key to riding over such surfaces is not wheel size but _wheelbase._ Longer frames also provide a smoother ride over cobblestones. 4x80 is hell on cobblestones, 5x80 is bliss (in comparison). Same goes for such a concrete grate or whatever you want to call that thing: you’ll sooner get stuck with a 3x110 than with 68mm wheels in an aggressive flat 4x72mm frame. In such a long frame, the wheels barely get a chance to get into those holes. (Do place your weight firmly on your heels though.)

    Mais um inscrito aqui do Brasil. A propósito, parabéns pelo belo vídeo! Ficou incrível!
    E qual vc acha melhor para quem quer fazer urban, andar pela cidade e de vez em quando ir até a pista de skate e deslizar no corrimão e no mini ramp, o PATINS USD AEON 80 OU O AEON 72?

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  11 месяцев назад +1

      Big thanks! 🤘
      I haven't tried the USD Aeon 80 yet, so I can't _really_ say something about that skate. But intuitively I'd go for the Aeon 72. 72mm wheels are still big enough to maintain a decent speed - check out my videos with the Rockin' 572 frame for example. 80mm wheels are of course a bit faster still, but those big wheels also make grinding more difficult. That's why I think 72mm is a nice compromise.

      @@TheRollingRaptormuito obrigado pela resposta! Olhando bem, vejo que as rodas 80 devem pegar, grudar mais fácil na hora de escorregar, fazer as manobras. O tamanho 72 deve me trazer velocidade na patinação na rua e me dar oportunidade de fazer uma manobras legais no corrimão na hora em que eu for para a pista. Muito obrigado.

    I've only taken up skating, I picked up a cheap pair of skates for around £100 and they are doing the job, but I know I need a pair perfect for me, I personally think I will be more free ride than aggressive what skates do you recommend.

    • @TheRollingRaptor
      @TheRollingRaptor  Год назад

      I totally get you! I've no plans to become an aggressive skater myself, but I want to get into aggressive to get better at freeskating. Now, there are several great skates from different brands on the market. I believe the main issue is how they fit your feet. A skate that fits too loose or too tight just ruins the whole experience. I love the Powerslide Next for example, I can ride that skate for a whole day without any pain, but some people feel (severe) pressure points. The Rollerblade Twister (Edge) is also great, and looks fabulous, but doesn't suit wide feet. (Maybe the newest version does.) I've replaced the stock liner of my Twister Edge X with a Seba CJ Prime liner to stop my toes from hurting. One of the most comfortable freeskates on the market is the FR1. Like that one as well, though I prefer the looks of the Next and the Twister. The best advice I can give you: make sure to get your feet into a pair of skates before you buy them. The fit is super important.
      Now, the boot's not the only thing to consider, there's also the frame. I've skated 4x80 for one year, but when I got into jumping and riding stairs and carving bowls, I found out 4x80 was too short and didn't offer me the stability I needed. So for me, 4x90 is the best all round setup. And if it's slightly rockered, all the better. But maybe you prefer a three-wheel setup, like a 3x110, which can be great fun. Fast & agile. But quite sketchy for stair riding.
      An after market frame to consider is the Endless 90. The subtle rocker feels quite magical (as do all rockered 4x90 frames), but the same frame also accommodates a flat 3x110.
