  • In this week's video I am critiquing my viewers' art! I will go over and give tips for things like anatomy, body proportions, coloring, shading, anatomy, backgrounds, colored pencils, hands, and more! I hope these drawing tips will be helpful to beginners or artists of any skill level.

    How to submit your art:
    ------------------------------
    - You can send the art to l2dmdrawmyoc@gmail.com (l2dm = L2DM many people think the "L" is an "i") in the subject of the email please include the word "Critique" so I know you want me to critique it.
    - Or post the art to Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #l2dmcritique
    - In the email/post include art you would like me to give feedback on. If the art is done traditionally the picture of it needs to be clear and in good lighting. You can submit multiple pictures if you like, but I will probably only choose one to critique.
    - In the email or post, you can tell me if there is a specific part of the art you want me to give feedback on. For example; the hair, face, coloring, and so on. That way I can give you advice in areas that you feel like you need help in.

For real, recently I had written a comment on a relism eye tutorial short, just like a fun little joke, like 'Laughs in anime style' or smthn, and then a random Person comes up to me, telling me I wouldnt improve if I didnt Lear relism first. Like bruh, I do know some, and I Dont essencially NEED it to improve. I can learn anatomy wiout realism. Just like the shoulder thing in this video. I was refenrecing a vid from lavendertowne too, and they just straight up said 'Well she not good either'. They were just hating on any artsyle that wasn't realism.
Congrats if you actually read this piece of thought my brain had, take a whatever emoji that is 🐠

    • @Hearts_4_Nini
      @Hearts_4_Nini Год назад +11

@@Jul._.777 yeah I notice I alot of people style shame by saying “if you don’t draw realism first, your not gonna improve” but that’s not particularly true I started with cartoon art and I’ve been getting very good at realism! I’ve studied anatomy for about 2years now and I’m improving on that aspect of my art! (I’ve been drawing for my whole life and I’m not gonna give out my age but I will say I have my fair share of experience for art) and one thing I really take away is from it is to try to understand proportion but keep your true art style close to your heart! I’ve used this mindset throughout my anatomy study journey and it works wonders!!

I really love the way you critique; your desire to help each person create the very best work they can, while they pursue their passion shines through. I also love that you go out of your way to find positive things to say about each piece. Having been a critique receiver elsewhere, I know when I get some, all the little artist hackles raise up and stand on end. My ego screams WHAT DO YOU KNOW, IT'S PERFECT AND GLORIOUS AND I CREATED IT AND IT IS PART OF MY SOUL while my emotions are going OW OW OW OW why does no one like my work OW OW OW OW OW and my common sense part (who has to pin the other two and sit on them both goes 'yeah, that's a valid point' now let's fix it) so it's so nice to see you give out praise too. A little praise when common sense is wrestling ego and emotions is so nice. ;)

I never understand why people come for people like you who offer help. As an artist no matter how good we become we always have more things to learn, thats what makes art fun. It would be boring if we could just become some sort of peak level perfect and never have to progress, or i think so personally. If you look at people that meet up to hang out knitting, or sowing, or maybe pottery making, you will see all kind of artists at different levels or with different styles, converse and give each other tips and tricks. Heck i started attending an art club for painting solely, and i was compleyely new to the wet-paint and canvas medium, yet i had some tecniques from my digital art experience i could translate over to the paint medium and i started playing around and some really good painters at the club came to me and asked how i did certain shadows on a set of bushes on my nature piece (keep in mind that i am still not a very good painter, and i have a lot to learn compared to the others who has painted their entire life, absorlutely gorgeous piece, i just managed to make a couple of really pretty bushes, so not tooting my own horn here) and i got a bit taken aback because i felt like i had no place speaking as if i knew what i was doing, so i humbly told them how i had taken an old worn out paint brush (i had gotten a lot of used stuff from a friend) and had cut it in a certain way so i could dry dab with it to create the little leaf-bush effect, and one of them litterally took one of her fancy brushes over to me and asked me to do the same to hers. I was so worried but it ended up working out fine and she was so greatful despite being far above my skill level herself. And she has taught me so much ever since as well. We all find small methods to make stuff work out. Heck my dad is a carpender, build buildings his entire life and yet i sometime still help him and give him some fun or good little hacky ideas i can thank drawing and praticing circles and shapes so much for, we all have something we can teach one another, and you taking time to help others as per their request, when you could be drawing your own stuff, is so selfless and amazing. And you are so kind and comfortable to listen to, to boot.

The advice helps:) I'm getting into art more, lol, and instead of me asking you for tutorials I signed up for an online art class where I'm right now and we just learned about heads, eyes, nose, and hands:) now we are doing bodies, lol, but it's incredible! :D thank you for the advice though!

I actually had a problem with making my art more "even"- I mean, digitally, I would use the symmetrical ruler or I would flip the drawing to see where I've gone wrong but I can't do that when I'm drawing on paper 🤷. Usually, I would look at my drawings through a mirror or I would take a photo on my phone to see what seemed more skewered on one side but rubbing/ erasing the drawing is too bothersome for me so I'd rather I draw the drawing (???) more properly then going back to fix it 5 times. (Wait how do I say "thank you" after writing this out? 😅)
ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW NICE REBEKAH IS? (did I spell her name right?) ✨❤🍓💃
At first, when I heard the word 'Critiquing' I'd think "No, you can't do this, it has to be like this!!" but after I watched Rebekah's series on critiquing her viewers' art, my thoughts on the word 'critiquing' completely changed 😀
I love how polite she is 💃✨

These videos are helping a lot! I was thinking if I should sent you one of my pieces too, but then I found out, that I had no newer art, which I'd rather have your critique on 😅(school / college days are not that free as my mind thought)😆
But still - I'm still learning, how to draw humans, because I mainly draw animals and ANY ideas from you to the shading (for example) could be also used on the animals❤

Lovely video as usual! It always so interesting to see you critiquing art and I like learning from them. I'm thinking of maybe submitting some of my art as well at some point, but I'm not sure. I tend to have trouble with color and I don't feel like my art is that interesting XD. Anyhoo, can't wait for next week's video! :D

Wow these people might have some flaws but thier art is way better then mine for sure. Good Job for critique thier art. This way they will find a little mistakes and improve much more. But by far I love these people submission. For my art. I know I still need work. Lol sometimes my art can be flat and the coloring plus sharing is plain lol. I still need to improve on those aspects.

What I noticed with the artwork you were fixing the background for was the artstyle uses quite bold lineart, so to better blend it, I would use the manga filter instead of posterise, to give it some lines
