About Noel Gallagher:
Noel Gallagher was the main songwriter, lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist of Oasis, one of the biggest and most loved bands ever to emerge from the UK. His band played a tremendous role in shaping and inspiring contemporary guitar music from the 1990’s onwards. Noel’s continued success with the High Flying Birds cements his position as one of the most prolific and successful British songwriters of the last 50 years.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds first emerged in 2011 with their eponymous album released in October of that year. The album went double platinum in the UK and has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. The release of the debut album was supported by a touring schedule covering 150 live shows in 32 countries.
This was followed by ‘Chasing Yesterday’, released in March 2015 - the first album to be produced as well as written by Noel, with 122 further shows in 28 countries.
A third album, ‘Who Built The Moon?’, was recorded in sessions spanning 2 years with renowned producer and composer David Holmes in Belfast and London released in November 2017.
There followed a series of multi-genre EPs released over the course of 2019 and 2020, all receiving high critical acclaim.
June 2021 saw the release of ‘Back The Way We Came: Vol 1 (2011-2021)’ - a Best Of celebrating a decade of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. This was the bands 4th consecutive Number 1 album and the 12th Number 1 album across Noel’s career. 2021 also saw Noel named as Record Store Day’s official ambassador.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds played Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage in June 2022, delivering a career-spanning set to one of the weekend’s biggest crowds. The show was the culmination of a summer of acclaimed sold-out outdoor venues across the UK.
Fast forward to 2023 and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are looking ahead to their much anticipated fourth studio album, ‘Council Skies’, due for release 2nd June. From the evocative album title to the cover art, to the lyrics themselves, ‘Council Skies’ sees Noel Gallagher bringing a more personal perspective, reclaiming his past and paying homage to his Mancunian roots. His most varied and accomplished solo record to date, Noel’s new album is a record framed by confidence, risk-taking, surefooted creative freedom, and great emotional depth.
The first singles taken from the album - ‘Pretty Boy’ and ‘Easy Now’ - were met with a hail of critical and commercial success by fans and media alike. ‘Pretty Boy’ has also been remixed by The Cure’s Robert Smith, taking the track to a new spaced-out dimension.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds commence touring in early June 20023 with a 26 date USA co-headline tour with Garbage before returning to the UK an extensive run of outdoor venues including a huge homecoming show at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park before closing the year with an arena tour in December.

Should be a single.
Hope he plays it live.
Whole album should be singles!!
😮you mean it wasn't a single? I haven't been keeping up with all of his stuff recently, but first time I heard this, I realized I was missing out on further brilliant Noel songwriting. He's really great!
dig your soul out and chasing yesterday vibes at same time
I can't say I dislike a single song on the new album. Noel has crafted an incredible album with some motown, bossa nova, pop, country. I believe it started with "Flying on the ground".
Just hearing this today for the first time. My compliments to the lyricist, the composer, the drummer, the bass player, the guitarists, the engineers, the mixers, whoever made the tea, and everyone else in the room because this is an instant classic.
This is my favorite song on the album. Such a great album. Hope to see this in the live rotation at some point.
Killer bassline.
Good to hear he can still bang out really quality tunes 👏🔥
This is insanely good
I love this song more than love =)
A song for the ages, it strikes every register. Unforgettable.
Merece más atención está espectacular ❤
Love the grove on this song, the production is perfect. .... This album will be timeless.
This song has made the top 3 of all his work for me. It's great, singing about love while still getting you moving like "In the heat of the moment", the bass, the little solo at the end, the falsetto, this is a great song, I hope we can see a proper live version at some point.
I love the fusion of the vocals especially how it drops in the first verse
Maybe my favourite song from the album. Love the harmonies.
This song is freaking amazing.
Cracker of an album, every tracks a killer, even a bond song in there . 10/10
Oh my word! If you listen to this song while thinking Bond... It sounds like he's telling James Bond's last trip to save his lady and his child on the poison garden island, but it's told by the villain! It cost him everything to battle the guy who loved her enough to die over her... 😱
Makes me wonder about writing songs around movies, but obscured by the antagonist's point of view!
Please more of this!!!What a TUNE!!!That BASSLINE this Track really ROCKS!NG👑
Tune! 💫
Unbelievable, he just keeps doing it. This is an amazing song, love the album ❤
Fantastic!
So this one's about a steam ship, right? Nice song.
Great tune ,very underrated
Hey, everything is better-the boss has made a cameo!
Best comment so far! How many will get it, though?
Kontiki vibes for sure!
Wow, this song and album is breathtaking, definitely his best album since going solo
Best song of Council Skies. Congrats chief!
A pure genius at the peak of his musical production, masterfully suspended between Beatlesiana and raw dusty Britpop.
As much as Noel has helped him, Robert Harrison of Cotton Mather deserves some credit for the chorus (from Homefront Cameo).
Hahahaaaaa what pretentious bollocks
@@marc-xj7zv I agree with you
Noels best solo song imo.
Noel bought a creative high in California then wrote this tune: fuck I'm so glad he did! This hits everything ❤️⛵🖊️
Tune 💙
For me this song has a grungy kind of vibe to it. Not a bad thing at all.
I like the way it sounds like a Las title and starts with the word Liberty ship another Las title.
just great
Referencing The Las again for the second time on this album. Love this.
Songs like this will coax me back into the fold
This guy keeps belting out such amazing tunes.
God, what a tune, what a mood.. The Chief
Dope...
At first I didn't care for this. But it's different, pretty good after a few listens.
Décidément ce magicien ne cessera jamais de m'enchanter, "there she blows" est juste fabuleux.
Love it.
I guess “love you more than love” sounds pretty profound if you’re high!
😂 I just caught on after all these years that maybe that's why his band is the High Flying Birds. Of course it is! But I don't think this is anything but the high on love and life that you get when you're enamored. This song is so good I just can't stand it LOL
@@OpalMoonstone247 I love the song too and the whole album, I was having a little joke because he told a story about going to a San Francisco weed shop, and they said well what kind of weed do you want?So he asked for some with creativity and then he wrote this!
Immense 🎶
One the best tunes of the album
No doubt ❤
This album is masterful. Noel has stepped up another level. The guy from the 1975 or whatever who claims nobody wants to listen to noel or liams solo stuff compared to oasis is clueless. Obviously definitely maybe and wtsmg are the standard, and the emotional attachment people have towards those albums make it hard to compete against. But this album absolutely stands up against anything else oasis ever did and exceeds it. Take definitely maybe and wtsmg out of the equation and I’m having this over anything else oasis did every day of the week
His name is Matty Healy and yeah, I thought that take was ridiculous. Not to mention, I really don't rate The 1975 anyway (just to be clear that is an opinion totally unrelated to his opinion of Noel Gallagher)
You didn't understand what he meant. He said that there isnt a single person going to either solo concerts that wouldn't rather be at an Oasis gig, which is 100% right. Literally every single person going to see Liam or Noel would also be at an Oasis gig. There's very little people at a High Flying Birds gig that's totally just a HFB fan and not Oasis
@@anony-mousse8487 yea but it's fuck all to do with him..all these big mouths taking on someone who wrote a song called My Big mouth
Get what's coming then
I'd be at an Oasis gig, but I 100 percent bad rather go to a HFB concert. I saw Oasis on the Be Here Now tour at the height of their popularity in 97, and I just saw HFBs in July, and I'll take High Flying Birds every time.
@@anony-mousse8487 not sure how old you are, but i got to see oasis and have heard a lot of bootleg performances of them through the 90’s and 00’s, when liam was on point, tge gigs were great, but many times liams voice was shocking and the gig was pretty embarrassing to watch. So yeah, peak oasis will trump liam or noels solo stuff, but peak oasis is long gone and liam has almost become a caricature of himself and has lost that natural swagger he had now he’s a multi millionaire
Could be my favorite tune on COUNCIL SKIES. I consider this a sequel to SAIL ON.
😍😍😍
Crunch baby!
Amazing track!
La mejor canción del álbum(?) 👌
Sí
Amazing song and loved the visualizer 🤩🤩
Everyone, keep streaming the album, currently at 2 in midweek sales.
Reminds me of Just a Feeling - Breeze, 1998...
One Day, people will understand that IS the most important album umi' whole History (yes, I'm a fan 😅).
Chief!
Ρε τον κερατουκλη! Τουλάχιστον 2 τραγούδια έχει κλέψει εδω αλλά μπράβο του!
❤️
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
They better give you the next Bond theme gig...
Ostensibly biblical!
This song will take years to fully take off or put in properly.
Once it hits you
Youve been hurt.
Has Alice In Chains - Down In a Hole unplugged influence
A definite nod to Homefront Cameo by Cotton Mather?
In an interview on Absolute Radio (I think🤔) NG said he picked up some killer recreational pot in LA and went back to his hotel room, partook, and there she blows.
That drums...
Amarte ❤
A great song but thought I'd heard this somewhere before. Very similar to 'In My Head' by Small Town Mentality.
Robbie Williams.
Brutal papa, te la comite Noel!
shut up and take my money 🇬🇧👌❤
Dog's bollix of a tune
Great version of Homefront Cameo by Cotton Mather...... wait.....
Indeed
Oh dang. Noel you sneaky fk - er.
top tune but goddammit Chris Curtis @ I'm Your Boss WHERE ARE MY NAUTICALLY THEMED VISUALS?? WHALES! PIRATES! BOATS! SEA MONSTERS! Where is the YARRRR come on man!!!! You LITERALLY missed the boat. theme.
Anybody else think this song is about Liam and Sarah?
That theory is interesting...Noel is called the chief...the commander...so the liberty ship might be Oasis?
Cold duck 65
sounds straight off revolver
Reminds me A-ha!
02:30 This moment....
That's Stevie Wonder...As.. meets the Hollies...very good tune though.
wow, so im not trying to be stupid here, but why did Liam sing instead of Noel??
Bit of Robbie Williams in there......"No Regrets"........good tune tho👍
I thought so too until I heard "Homefront Cameo" by Cotton Mather
This is the first actual glimmer of artistic sanity from Noel in a long time.
😂what!
i wonder if Noel ever read Moby Dick or other sea shanties. I don't care for banal titles. it seems kinda laziness, slovenliness. so many pop stars insert them as a way to introducing songs. cool video btw.
Surely "there she blows" is a standard saying and can be used by anybody without completing the "required reading" - would it make the title more banal to you if he hadn't? The meaning of art doesn't lie in what the artist meant, but in what it means to you.
Robbie Williams anyone? I didn't lose my mind it was mine to give away? 👍👍
I thought so too until I heard "Homefront Cameo" by Cotton Mather
@@Dweldolad wow just listening now.
@@Dweldolad THIS IS SO CLEARLY a ripoff of Cotton Mather's "Homefront Cameo" -- just listen to the first several measures of both songs. I guess Noel publicly endorsing that band and their Kontiki album back in the day wasn't enough admiration. Perhaps he thinks thievery is also a sincere form of flattery??
@@Robinbrevardthievery? Every song does remind you of another, it’s just music, not anything is a ripoff ffs
Ha ha ha and LOL!@@matteoc3487
