What games should I include on my essential third party NES video?

I've reignited my love for the NES and Famicom over the past few years. I love collecting cartridges for both formats.

When I started collecting cartridges a while ago, I told myself I would only collect Famicom games. Then I told myself that I would only collect any NES games that had significant differences or weren't released in Japan. Now I have two Ikea boxes full of NES games and I don't know how that happened. Ha ha

Great video you earned yourself a sub!
Nice shooting on Duck Hunt! Would be nice to play that again!

Well, pretty soon I'm going to make a video on how to find yourself a CRT TV for use with such games. It's a lot easier than you think

Great video and great 'stache. Surprised the algorithm hasn't blessed you yet. Can you talk about Earthbound Beginnings next?

You know that would be great idea. I think that that would deserve a video on its own. I'm actually not that far into playing that game. I think I'd need to actually play it for a couple weeks to have some things to say
Thanks. There are so many people who make RUclips videos about retro video games that have beards that I tried going for a mustache instead of the beard that I had on my previous videos.

Funny timing for this vid to show up on my feed. I’ve recently been in a bit of NES phase rn for my retro gaming brain. I actually just yesterday started playing the original Zelda NES game, and punch out is probably my all time favorite NES game! I’m probably gonna keep an eye out for the games you mentioned that I don’t own already! Thanks for the vid!

Awesome. Well I'm old enough to remember when these games actually came out. I would recommend playing the Legend of Zelda without using any hints or looking things up unless you actually get stuck. Part of the joy is exploring, figuring out the world and puzzles.
This is one of my first videos where I wrote a script for the beginning and the ending, but I use an outline and bullet points for what I wanted to talk about for the actual games and I thought it worked well. I was trying to have more of a conversational style and I wanted to spend less time over writing.

I’m going down the same path as well! I’ve been collecting physical carts for a couple months now. I *did* get an Everdrive mainly so I could save states in games that didn’t originally offer saves. I’ve even created a “games I physically own” folder.

@@Superb_Owl80 I love my EverDrives. If I have a system that has anm EverDrive available for it I usually get the EverDrive. I actually made a folder for really expensive games on my Everdrive so I can play them at any time and not be tempted to handover hundreds of dollars for each game contained within. That being said, I still like having cartridges even though I don't need to have them it's like having something that you can physically hold and touch. But when it comes to like actually playing a game from beginning to end, then you can't beat the EverDrive so you can use save states and translations and such.

@@8bitjoystick 100% same! I’ve really wanted to get into Mr Gimmick and Ufouria, and now I’m able to without the steep price of entry.

@@Superb_Owl80 Another thing is that the EverDrive can do the YM2149 sound chip that was in the Japanese version of Gimmick so if you play it on a Famicom, Expansion Audio modded NES, or an FPGA system with an EverDrive like the RetroUSB AVS you can get the expanded audio version of the soundtrack that is not in the European or bootleg NES versions of the game. LISTEN TO THAT BASS! vgmrips.net/packs/pack/gimmick-family-computer

I wasn't sure I wanted to include games published by Nintendo that weren't developed by Nintendo. But you are definitely going to see a lot of these games later on in future videos that I'm working on

@@8bitjoystick Balloon Fight and Kirby's Adventure were developed by HAL. Nintendo actually leaned on HAL, Intelligent Systems, Tose, Rare, Pax Softnica, Hudson Soft, and many other companies for games they published. It's feasible to see Nintendo being more the guys that said "make this more chibi! Make this more family friendly!" than doing any actual game programming.
