Until now. I used to see Battletech as a few video games that I found interesting but not long-term engaging. Tex talked me into looking into BT....and holy shit was he right. The prices are something that I can think of affording, there are books to rival the Expanded Universe (I will not bow to Disney and call it 'legends'), if the community isn't garbage, it seems that BT will be where I should spend my newly middle-aged and able to afford a real layout of cash money.

Oh, great collaboration. I love Battletech and I loved 40k, up until maybe 2006. Got lured back with the new Dark Eldar models, but it didn't last long. I still remember all the people who gushed about the transition to plastic: "Every unit will come with 20 models. Every character model will come with a sprue of all the equipment it can use. Everything will be better and cheaper." I'm still laughing. In some way I like plastic, because I always enjoyed modifying my models and making them unique, which is easier with a softer material, but GW's stance on modifications and 3rd party parts was always horrible.
Oh boy I was hoping this would happen and look forward to hearing your thoughts. No curby the urby Tex! Embrace the memes 😊 hail cargonia and praise z0rg!
They also tried to copyright the terms 'Imperial Guard' and 'Stormtrooper' as well. Their loss of those suits is why we suddenly got nonsense like "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions", respectively. GW's rollout of those terms is when I figured they were starting their death spiral.
Don’t forget that the concept of “Power Armor”(aka the primary thing one sees when they look at a Space Marine or Sister of Battle) In science fiction owes its origins to Starship Troopers(the book, not the movie)
I heard about this from Tex getting attacked. I'm not a big fan of Arch's (just a voice thing, although I understand he is a luminary in the 40k community) though like both 40k lore and Battletech lore, and have recently become a huge Tex fan. Top cross-over lads.
Tex will undoubtedly understand this: Pre-Plastic GW. Kahr Arms for the price of SiG Plastic GW. Hi-Point, for the price of Wilson Combat Current GW. Jiminez.....defending their designs against gunsmiths like they're Glock.
I hope that boycotting Warhammer+ will snap GW out of it. I got into this franchise in 2013, through TTS, buying audiobooks off the Black Library app, and was recently about to start playing tabletop. And then this happened. I don’t want it to go
The arrogance and ignorance of the GW hardcore fans will drown it out unfortunately. GWS marketing never targets the current consumer it always looks to ensnare new customers

For talking with someone who is not agreeing with theire extreme ideology.
As someone who grew up with the Land Before Time films, I can confirm that every time we stopped at the local library there was a new entry in the franchise.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Black Pants Legion became the biggest BattleTech channel on RUclips. With the amount of effort and love that Tex and his crew put into the videos, they deserve that kind of recognition.

@@Vaderi300 No, it's you people forcing your politics into every place it doesn't belong. When I'm playing a game or enjoying fiction, I want to enjoy the setting for what it is and for it's own politics, not to see our real world politics forced into it like someone smashing a square shape into a rectangular hole.
@@Sujad you're such a snowflake 😈.
I didn't know just how badly I needed to hear both Arch's and Tex's voices in one video @.@
Tex perfectly articulating that gatekeeling argument with a local restaurant is genius, and he did that off the cuff, from the heart.
God I'd miss Cloverleaf if anything happened to it.
Listening to Ted talk about the Marauder brought me back to CBT. Couldn’t be happier
Breaking imperial news-
SLDF Captain Lost in Imperial Space due to malfunctioning warpjump , Badass hero meets smug Inquisitor!
At any rate Tex meeting Arch is a blessing the the Emperor himself
Canonically tex is a post Clan Invasion mercenary. No really they wrote him into the lore because they appreciated what he was doing for the community
@@lanasmith4795 And he's in my mercenary company in my heavily modded version of Battletech.
Holy shit, this is my new favorite cross over ever!!!
Here is some news for you , I recently said I was painting a thunder warrior army. They are made from liberators , Mark 3 heresy marines , with ork top knots , went into a GW store was told I would not be able to use them as they can only be used as first born and they arevtoo big. Which is odd as I rang the same store to check before I bought the models ! Good job I bought them as a painting project lmao 🤣
They'll do anything they can to sell you shit. Don't ever trust people at the counter, call the company question line, at best. Assume generally anything you assemble custom will likely be illegal by default.
The BPL-Tex-Man and the Archquisitor. I never even imagined this! Nice!
6:00 consumer: My new caos units deform, break and fall apart, why is that?
Salesman: Oh that is beacause in lore caos always corrupts and decay... yes yes , not because of bad manufactoring, no no
This was how the idea of a skaven society started
I really hope we get another one of these. It was like two old soldiers meeting in a coffee shop. They don’t know each other, but they know each other’s struggle.
Oh my my! What a delightful treat. My two favorite lore channels collaborated. TEX, you and your team are amazingly wholesome and entertaining!
Tex and Arch together?!?!? Next you're going to tell me the god emperor has returned riding an Urban Mech!
Yep and he goes by the surname "Cameron"
And he has a thing for cat-girls.
We all know big E would be rocking a Mad2, he's gotta look like a proper sir in a proper sir carrier.
No, big E could only be in a mech who's name is befitting of him(or his ego) an Emperor is the only option
@@terryhiggins5077 I'd assume he'd pick up an Atlas but replace the skull with his own face.
There is some background industrial noise going on. Nice to hear Tex again, he is my go to source on Battletech content.
They're doing hydraulic press asmr.
I think he started looking up the hydraulic press videos after they got mentioned
That authentic feel of being lectured in rusty dropship mechba ... I mean dedicated hall of knowledge.
He got the industrial 3d printers going for models hahaha.
Engame was the greatest crossover event in history:
This video:
This is now by far the best talk about the current state of GW and GW affairs, especially as it relates to its own history on the timeline. Thank you for this.
I always thought TTBTs were supremely well scripted, but hearing how eloquent and damn near poetic Tex can be in an off the cuff conversations, I'm now wondering if the aren't largely adlibbed off a list of bullet points. It's a shame he doesn't like public attention, cause holy shit can he monologue(not that there's a general public outcry for Battletech TED talks).
Until now. I used to see Battletech as a few video games that I found interesting but not long-term engaging. Tex talked me into looking into BT....and holy shit was he right. The prices are something that I can think of affording, there are books to rival the Expanded Universe (I will not bow to Disney and call it 'legends'), if the community isn't garbage, it seems that BT will be where I should spend my newly middle-aged and able to afford a real layout of cash money.
he rambles about a lot of things in his more normal videos
@@adeludedpotato834 okay, Clanner...
@@taccovert4 no joke. i went to a gamestore for 40k kill team tutorial.
and while i was at a table with 4 others watching a demo game and learning, table next to us was like a frat party. 6 dudes playing battletech and having time of their lives.
....i wish 40k games were that excited.
as much as i hate to see warhammer die, considering its the giant of tabletop games, perhaps its for the best. Die a hero and allow other franchises a chance to flourish, or live a villian and stifle every form of competition.
Everything will be better and cheaper."
I'm still laughing.
The -Discount- -Dan- Games Workshop guarantee: "I will _always_ take your money."
Didn't GW try to copyright the word pauldrons? You know the piece of armor invented 800ish years ago?
Yep they did try that, and was laughed out of court for it too.
I don't mind Astra Militarum. Tempsetus Scions is just stupid though.
@@PhilosophicallyAmerican I honestly despise the new design for the stormtroopers. The old design was far better.
@@tba113 I actually like the new names. Sounds less generic. I like the new scions but the design of the old stormtroopers are better.
Same. I heard there was trouble so I came over to give views and likes.
Tex will undoubtedly understand this:
Pre-Plastic GW. Kahr Arms for the price of SiG
Plastic GW. Hi-Point, for the price of Wilson Combat
Current GW. Jiminez.....defending their designs against gunsmiths like they're Glock.
I wouldn't even rate them at Jiminez levels, my dude.
Come on at least highpoint makes guns as durable as a nokia phone, if i step on a plastic marine its done for.
I refuse to give up on a sequel to this conversation.
Arch, thank you for introducing me to Tex and the BPL
Poor tex whenever he starts his long explanation arch turns on the hidraulic press video.
Man tex is the broken artist, that fights the dark with his art. And arch the man who is hated by all, yet fights for what matters in the universe we love. Never before did I need to hear these two titans together, but now I know what it means be a noble soul.
"When I saw 40k turning directions I no longer agreed with, I went for the other guys..." - Tex fucking NAILING it and how I feel.
Arch and Tex! Hopefully the first of many interactions. You should do some Battletech stuff Arch
Hell yes to that. Tex and Arch seemed to riff off of each other very well. It was more than any of us could have hoped for. I grew up as an Inner Sphere kid, as Battletech was my first tabletop game. Grew into 40K because all my friends played it. Am returning to BT, and the community is incredibly welcoming.
Can we have a monthly Tex and Arch podcast? Pretty Please?
Even if GW kills 40k. We still have the older editions and can work with friends to find the best mix of rules.
I am one of those weirdos who got into Age of sigmar, and now I feel like stopping myself. I loved the high fantasy imagination of Atlantis elves, stormcasts and dragons, but even now I feel like a dark cloud is over GW as a whole with how they are treating things. You guys are pretty much convincing me to look at other options
Confrontation is a game, with gorgeous minis. Same withe Legends of Signum (same sculptor). Nobody to play them WITH near me, but...maybe this mess might get fantasy fans to look into such things
@@mikehendon7327 worst part is, GW just released the shit I really like. I love the high elf line (except the moo-elves. Mountains are awesome) for the ancient battleline aesthetic, a mass of pikes. After having bought them and played them on TTS, there is no way 10 of them is worth $60.
Now they are teasing some amazing scults for dragons and dragon riders, stuff I been wanting since they dropped the old High elf line.
Gonna look at those two games. Maybe they got stuff on TTS too...
I have to say I love how Tex just starts watching hydraulic press videos in the middle of your conversation.
You talked about the hydraulic press, and sure enough that's what he started watching. It's so great.
I still can not believe that people are so delusional that they attacked Tex over talking with somebody.
An absolute beacon of integrety, helpfullness and just good will, who uses his plattform not for making money for himself.
Every big video is a foundraiser, he warns people about big problems luke parasocial relationships, he does what he can to not only help himself with what he is doing, but also does make other people happy.
And the he gets attacked by people that didn't do any off that, nor have thought about something like that.
Thinking they are the good guys for attacking a person who did jobs needed to help people in theire darkest hour, who does more good in one day then most of these people have done in their entire life.
For talking with someone who is not agreeing with theire extreme ideology.
Sitting in from the cockpit of my Urbanmech. Appreciate both your work and you having Tex on Arch!
I too am making a scfi/Fantasy setting that takes motifs of Satanic imagery, Norse mythology and Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos concepts
As someone who grew up with the Land Before Time films, I can confirm that every time we stopped at the local library there was a new entry in the franchise.
Tex's lore videos are my 2nd favorite lore videos right after Arch's.
So to have both these Guys on the same show is awesome.
It's like I'm listening to Owl and Eeyore talk hobbies. I love it!
The crossover nobody expected.
But holy shit take all of my yes
It wouldn't surprise me if the Black Pants Legion became the biggest BattleTech channel on RUclips. With the amount of effort and love that Tex and his crew put into the videos, they deserve that kind of recognition.
Hail, hail Cargonia! Land of stolen things. Obey the Quarter-Master, unless he is a ling!

Good God, Tex is so wholesome it makes my heart break.
I started playing BT in High School (late 80's - 90's). We mixed the TBG with the Mechwarror Tabletop RPG. Stompy mechs, and RPing! We were members of The Southern Death Cult, our Mercenary Company. Good times!
One of my favorite streams from last year. I know the negativity took a toll on Tex but I really want a follow up to this.
I know what you mean but this is unlikely to take place so long as the climate is the way it is.
I love kings of war! They even encourage you to make your own models use 3rd party figures and even allow you to field units that are just cardboard cutouts. It's cool like old warhammer 40k where they encouraged players to be creative. Also its cheap. Average price point per model is around 1 or 2 dollars. Compared to 40k where the price is 5 to 10 dollars per model
A surprise ,but a welcome one indeed.
Great seeing two great youtubers come together about two of my favorite hobbies.
Tex and Arch? Man that's a drop everything and watch moment right there. I'd like to see Prof. Arch LoreHammer as a guest speaker on a Tex lecture.

A "corporation" can't have that if they want to be IN CONTROL.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but I'm in the process of slowly slapping together a modern setting investigation/exploration TTRPG based around Cryptozoology.
It's remarkably fun to think out all these little details about creatures and environmental effects and making a RE4 style inventory system.
Just wish I had the time to write down more than a sentence a day.

Ngl, I enjoyed listening to you guys talk. I am not a huge podcast fan but you guys are enjoying enough to make me consider them. Stay safe you two, dont let the haters get to ya.
Used to play GW informally when young - when they were still the "outsiders" and we all rooted for them. Got older. Joined a new group and took my old models. Got told my models were not allowed because they were not canon and the equipment on the models did not reflect the equipment on the list and some of the models weren't fully painted (they were undercoated). Never played or attended a Games Workshop game since.
I started 40k in 3rd and when I was 11 or 12. I stayed with it till 5th ed then just got priced out. Stayed with the lore till this whole last 6 months just pissed me off. Goodbye GW and hope your company goes bankrupt!
Anyways great to see you here Tex!!! And dont worry Arch I'm staying with your channel lol
Oh dang, I'd forgotten about TSOALR - that was really my first real introduction into 40k more than just a passing curiosity and caused me to gain interest in Dawn of War.
