Ah yesssss! Marino is one of my faves from back in the day. Trills from hell. Gotta love it. Glad you chose to do a Marino preset. This guy doesn't get enough attention. By the way, check out one of his other live albums from early 2000s called Real Live. Just mind blowing and lots of stretched out soloing.
In the early 2000's,I was at a guitar shop checking out a Line 6 Vetta (ended up buying it).I was sitting there, blissfully unaware of my surroundings, jamming away on a Flying V,shredding my little heart out. When I stopped,I looked behind me and found there were like 20 people just standing there watching and listening. One guy walked up and said :you sound like Frank Marino". I thanked him but honestly had no idea what he meant because I had only heard OF Frank Marino but had never taken the time to check him out.Needless to say,I went home and checked out Mahogany Rush and was blown away. Not only by Frank's playing, but by the fact that someone actually thought I sounded like him (talk about a serious ego boost! LOL).Anyway,I thought I'd share my stupid anecdote.Haha.The preset sounds fantastic and your playing was spot on (that thumb pick thing still freaks me out LOL How do you that?).
That's a great story man!! Yeah the thumb pick thing is not very common. There are many people though who play with thumb picks. You'd be surprised. Thanks for the kind words.
what you say about getting Frank Marinos live lp can be also applied too Pat Travers an Robin Trower as well 3 of the greatest ever of course Id love too see ya do patch on Uli Jon Roth of the scorpions days as well an some ronnie montrose as well and Micheal Schenker as well!!!!! You rock Glenn!!!!!
Do you have a HX Stomp Xl version for the Marino patch available? I realize it would be stripped down a bit because of block size, I'm looking more for his basic amp, modulation and delay settings and ir. I would use external eq's and drive pedal. Would be willing to pay for single patch and notes what went into full patch.
nice non-invasive Floyd Rose, Glenn, and of coarse your ability to dial in great tone. Still using a GP10, but you are slowly making me to want to jump into a Helix. Hope you are doing well...
Excellent patch , I know Frank's sound for this song well and I don't think you could have gotten much closer ! How much are these effects units roughly in Canadian dollars ? Frank is my favorite guitarist ( I play myself for 40+ years now ) .
One of the most underrated and under appreciated guitarist of the the 20th AND 21st century.
Never saw anyone use a thumbpick like that. Amazing.
Wow Glenn !! You nail that sound !!! Very Good !!! Saw Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush twice live !!! What a great player as well as You !!!:)
Thank you Sir
Beat you! 5 times
Awesome 👍
