The phase one Armor was more protective but heavier, the phase 2 gave them more flexibility and were less heavy but not as strong as the first ones. Rex took pieces of both armor and Welded it how he thought it was fit. It’s so Fascinating how storm troopers had the freedom to customizes their uniforms post order 66.
They’re clones Not storm troopers And they DIDNT have that freedom post order 66 AT ALL. The empire took that away and Rex wasn’t in them at that point anyway. It’s the Jedi / republic who allowed it and encouraged them to do it

He then remarks that “the phase one stands up to anything”. So I think that the reasoning in the lore was that the phase one armor is tougher but phase 2 is lighter and more comfortable.
just got one and the blue paint on his chin is off center. First hot toys / sixth scale ive purchased super disappointing, hopefully i can get him exchanged and have better luck on the next one.

Because it would have to be made from acrylic, and acrylic bends over time.
