Shai can do some things Luka can, but Luka can't do ANYTHING special that Shai can. He will never be a 100th of the defender Shai is, he isn't as fast, not as athletic, not as disruptive. He only plays offense. Alright so he must be far superior on offense then right? Ehhhh incorrect. Shai is averaging 32ppg, on 55% shooting, something a guard has NEVER done in NBA history. Well at least Lukas the better 3pt shooter right? In theory, yes. However Shai is a far higher IQ player who turns it over way less and takes smarter better shots because he's the more trustworthy and consistent leader. I will take Shai ANY day to start my team around.
Luka reminds me of a Westbrook, he can put up all the numbers in the world, but when it comes time his team will collapse behind his lack of leadership and ego. He gets lazy and tired. You can never say the same about Shai. Every 5th or 6th game you get an 8/24 shooting night from Luka. Shai wouldn't allow that, if he didn't have his shot that night then you'll see a game comparable to 15pts, 4/12fg, 1/2 3p 6/6ft, 10ast, 8reb, 4stl, 2blk(bad for him)....Luka just CANT do that as the leader. He has the ball at all times, he cannot play off ball well at all. His worst games are absolute aborhent nightmares.
Gives me flashbacks to all those years of Westbrook. I love my guy, but I ALWAYS wanted a smarter player like a Tony Parker and now we have that but on a MUCH more elite level.

Denver has a better record and Murray and MPJ have been in and out of the lineup all year. Shai is great but he’s not averaging a near triple double, he just has the better record out of the others but his team has been healthy most of the year. Denver and Dallas are healthy now and OKC only has a 2 games advantage over Denver. Jokic gunna win it.

Rebounding and assists are so overvalued in todays game, the two biggest contributors to winning is shot making and defence. And while shot making is so easily viewed through stats, defence is never paid attention to. Defence is not just steals and blocks, its way more than that. Luka is an offensive beast, but he is not even close to the two way player shai is. Just because he plays in a system that doesn’t make him the centre piece to hog all the stats doesn’t mean Luka is on a different level than him.

The difference between Luka's offense to SGA's is waaay bigger than SGA's defense difference between Luka's defense. Plus SGA hasn't had playoff success yet. And if you watched basketball for the past 5 years, Luka ELEVATES his game in the playoffs. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of SGA and I watch their games every time. But Luka clearly is still better.

@@theplug193 The eye test doesn't show that SGA is better than Luka. Luka is the most double-teamed and blitz player in the league by a HUGE margin. No one gets more prioritized by an NBA defense than Luka. The 2 games OKC and Mavs played this year are a good example of the eye test I'm talking about. If you have a league pass, watch both of those games again. Also, Luka has a 113 defensive rating while SGA has 110. He is only 3 points better than Luka in that rating. Luka is a top-10 ISO and post-defender as well. Again, .6 differential in steals too with more defensive rebounds.

Dude i want OKC to go use some of these firsts they have and get Bridges. This team with Shai, Bridges, Dort, williams and Chet (i am saying giddey would be in the trade with those firsts) is Elite offensively and defensively. The 1 thing I would also love to see them get is more size at power forward, I am not sure Chet can be a Power Forward defensively, not sure he can move his feet fast enough on the perimeter. And also getting a big backup C.

No offensive star player ever guards the best player on the other team especially in the regular szn. Lu Dort is okcs defensive specialist so he always guards the best player. SGA guards the 2nd best guard/foward and giddey guards the worst. It’s not that complicated

Luka is having a more dominant statistical season. The mavs will most likely get to a top 3 or 4 seed in the west and if they do Luka better win MVP otherwise he is just being hated on.
