Mike Cook aka St Augusitine Sandman ventured on foot under the Matanzas bridge and caught his personal best Sheepshead to date using bottom sweeper jig straight to 15lb braid loaded with a live sand flea as bait.

Mike I am a NEW subscriber to your channel. I didn't hesitate to subscribe after how you helped those other fishermen out. That's what life should be all about. I have never been sheepshead fishing before, but I am looking forward to going sometime in the near future. I have all the equipment except the boat. I have a fresh water boat, but not a saltwater boat. When I get one I will give you a shout out to go. Tight Lines.

Yes it was! I’ve been skunked there before. I had a feeling the conditions were perfect to catch a fish. I didn’t expect it to be that good.

@gunsnbowzes the object is to get the weight to the bottom right next to the pylons. So, just make sure the current is calm or adjust your cast so that the weight ends up on the bottom next to the pylon -ya know if the current is moving fast. (Cast up stream a bit)

Oh I wasn’t aware that this was illegal if they have fishing licensees and are actively fishing too. Thanks for the heads up I’ll look it up. I give my fish away all the time to families that need them.

Were you at the north end of the bridge Mike. How far do you have to walk. My wife can't walk to far.
Southend..do not recommend fishing this if you have trouble walking. The climb down is treacherous. Very unstable footings.
