I’m doing a solo trip to nyc later this year from the UK for 8 days, to help me fight my social anxiety. I’m super scared, never flown alone before! Honestly the anxiety I have had since I booked it is crazy, but I’m doing it to help myself grow as a person! Thank you for this video, makes me feel like I’m not alone!
I flew alone to NYC last month. Was the best experience ever. I loved it. Could do whatever I wanted. Had an awesome time there. Gonna repeat it again this year 😊😍🥰
I did this with Rome in November and the first day was really emotional, I got there, almost got ran over a million times on my way to the hotel, almost cried a few times and didn't do anything for the rest of that day. From the second day on it got much better and I had a great time. Coincidentally my next solo trip is New York in April!
Jazzy I am so proud of you! I was crying right along with you. You have inspired me to take a trip by myself. I absolutely love all of your content! Thank you for sharing pieces of your life with us ❤️
Thank you for this!! I’m travelling to NYC at the beginning of December and too have been panicking about the taxi situation at the airport! Looking forward to watching the rest of the vlogs so I can see what the city is all about ☺️🌆 hats off to you for solo travelling so far from home! x
i’m gonna go on a bloody long hour flight to Egypt and I am just binge watching travel Vlogs because I can’t wait but mostly I watch jazzy’s travel Vlogs because she just gives us the whole adventure experience. This is why I subscribed to her.
You're so brave. I have to fly alone (and vlog, both) for the first time soon to take my hubbys ashes back to his family. I'm super scared, im a nervous flyer. It actually builds my confidence seeing someone else go through it first. Thank you for sharing this experience and how you feel. Enjoy your hols 🫂
It can be very intimidating to travel on your own, but once you've done it, you may just want to do it more often. I know that I LOVE it! My first solo trip was from home (South Africa) to Edinburgh in 2008. I was 24. I had a working-holiday visa and had booked into a backpacker until I could find work and a flatshare situation, or bedsitter. That was it. That was the plan. I'd tried to find work and accommodation from SA, but it proved difficult. I fortunately found temp work within about two weeks, but finding a decent flat with decent flatmates was a struggle. The first month in the backpacker was a novelty, but three months later, I was ready to go home. Then, a friend whom I had met in the backpacker, called me and told me there was place in the flat she had found. Yippee! It was the BEST year of my entire life thus far.
Well done you!!! 😊 I was a bit teary too when I travelled abroad alone for the first time. It's just fear of the unknown, that soon disappears though. :)
First time I traveled alone was to Shanghai, its definitely nerve wracking but in the end its so rewarding! Its nice being able to do what you want, when you want without worrying about others sometimes.
I had a mini crying session like 2 minutes before I found your video 😅 sometimes all we need is to have a tear or two out and we’ll be better afterwards. Have fun in NY!! I lived there for 5 years and it was fun!
Jasmine, I know I am probably not your target audience, being old enough to be your mum, but I have followed you since your bedroom vlogs and love how you've grown! Proud of you for going on a big solo adventure. If you're ever worried about where you are in a taxi, go to your maps app and you will be able to see yourself and that you are on the right route. Also, if you take Ubers you can have people follow along your route to see you've arrived safely. Just an fyi. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the nyc vlogs! I was actually there the same time as you! ❤❤❤
Congrats Jazzy, that was a very big first step you took, I would love to go solo traveling, hope you enjoyed your trip and got to see all you wanted to.
There are a lot of emotions floating in an airport, if you are empathic you can pick up on them and end up crying because all the emotions hit you. It's more than just your emotions!
One of my first solo flights I took without family was for work. Bless the sweet man next to me who saw me getting anxious, took my hand, let me squeeze during take of and landing and kept me distracted through the flight.
Loving this vlog series!! I went to New York with my 15 year old daughter in Feb this year, we enjoyed it so much I have booked her another trip for the 2 of us for her 16th birthday!! We absolutely love New York and I would totally love to do it alone!! I felt the same on our 1st trip and drove in to Manhatten in a yellow taxi, I expected like in Home Alone and it totally let me down, also the fact I thought I was gonna die because the carefree way they drive over there!! we plan on taking the air train and aubway next time xx
I relate to this so much! My first solo travel was when I just turned 20 and I traveled to a different country to do an internship, I was terrified and once I got on the plane the reality that I was leaving my family for a few months set in and I just cried looking out the window. But I ended up having the best time ♥
Welcome to America I wish we would of known you were coming, we would of cleaned the place up a bit and told the children to be on their best behavior Hope you enjoy your stay.
I travelled to NYC on my own, for 5 days, for my 40th, first time I’ve ever flown alone. I absolutely LOVED it. It woz the best experience, I saw Jersey Boys and Wicked on Broadway. My Google maps were very handy, and I got an open top tour bus/Statten Island ferry which allowed me to used them as many times as I liked, over a 3 day period
I’m going on a spontaneous trip to Manhattan next week and this video was SO helpful because I am terrified!! I’ve never travelled or flown alone and I’m nervous flyer anyway. It was so reassuring watching this and made me proud of you! Can I ask how much the taxi to your hotel was?
Hope you have a great time. I love travelling solo I went to over 20 countries solo when I was teaching in the UK. There is something so liberating about being able to go where you want when you want and change plans instantly. But I have no problem talking to random strangers so that helps lol.
Awww I’m sorry you didn’t get to enjoy the New York City skyline driving in from the airport. I live in NYC and the skyline is at its most beautiful at night. Your taxi driver must’ve driven through the Queens midtown tunnel which takes you directly from Queens where the airport is, straight into Manhattan. Taxi drivers here want to get the most direct route from point A to point B unless you specify otherwise. In any case, I welcome you AND I hope you enjoy our city! 😊
I flew cross country from New York state not NYC to Texas with 3 layovers in various states, the rushing to get to the next plane was scarey but I'm glad I did it.
I only travelled alone once to meet up with my Hubby in Penang for our honeymoon 1999, he was on deployment there hehehe, i had to go from Heathrow and i was so teary and panicy as i had never flown before it was a 13 hour flight, then an hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang the 3/4 hour on a coach! The tip about taking a photo of where you are parked, doesn't help as some airport car parks (like Bristol) they move the cars around lol Hope you had a fab time in NYC, Kudos to you xxx
Wish you would of shown more of yr solo trip of you out and about in city doing fun stuff.. It waS so much of just yr travel there and less of the having fun in the city. Hope you had a good time
Yes I remember going to new York feom the UK with dad and yes they drove us up the same way u got drove to and same place where we had to stop for another ride aswell it's strange seing this becuse it gave me memories
Oh jazz I wanted to climb threw the screen and tell you how brave you are for doing this! Us females don’t get it easy when it comes to the time of the month hormonal feelings we get! ❤
I impulsively planned myself a solo trip to new york (I'm afraid of plane and my BPD is making it hard to be alone) and I'm looking dfor videos of people traveling alone, so I can find the courage to actually go and not just waist money (I can't cancel)
I 'm a New Yorker and I hope you enjoy your stay but please be very careful the city is very dangerous right now stay aware of your surroundings , liked I said I live here and it scares me to go out alone . BTW JFK Airport is in Queens NY and no were near the Brooklyn Bridge.
A lot of the "Movie New York City" isn't filmed in actual New York. So a lot of those pretty shots and lovely sights you're hoping to see are often Montreal or Toronto. Like obviously the Brooklyn Bridge or the Statue of Liberty are actual New York, but like those scenic cutesy places are often not even New York City. Just like a lot of "Paris" is just Old Quebec City.
I’ve done a lot of things solo but travel is not one of them but after watching your vlogs I want to! NYC is my fave so I may have to do it next year! What hotel did you stay at? Was it in a safe area?
It's always nerve wracking to do something like this on your own for the first time but once you have.... 🙂 Good for you! And thank you for being honest about that nervousness. I hope it inspires others to tey things alone and to see that they will be ok too 🙂
