I'm a drywaller & wear stilts all the time! If you are using this costume again this year! Adjust your calf supports to just below your knee and you will have more control of the stilts & comfort! Butt looks awesome I'm building one this year!
Good for you! You took the time to figure out, plan and follow that plan until you made a very decent looking monster costume. See if you can add a "home-made monster face with moving has and teeth, big eyes etc. It might take more work than your whole monster costume! This will teach you design, experiment and bringing something to a successful end! You have no idea how few guys could even begin to do something like this. Well done!
If you can handle it and make the costume able to move like this, it can be just as creepy to see them stop and stand up straight all of the sudden. Seen someone in a more wolfy version do that and woo that was scary.
Yup, he was about 12 at the time... and you'd be shocked how much he did by himself. I was more of a "producer" (i.e. paid the bills) while he did all the work. :)
Amusingly, he didn't use the costume for traditional trick or treating... he just walked around the neighborhood giving the other kids some thrills! If you end up making a version of the costume, it'd be great fun to see photos! :)
Heh - yeah... it currently lives on a stand we constructed in the basement... and it continues to freak out the HVAC techs whenever they service the furnace. ;)
@@jtrentadams I would love to build a costume like this or just something freaky like this and place it in a dark corner of my basement to keep the guests away lol.
Excellent job and nice video. I also bought the same guide from Mel2Dassa to follow. Question, what type of spray paint did you use? and also, how is the foam attached to the stilts and to the crutches. Already have most of my materials and hope to be able to build before hallowen so I can practice walking before that night. Thanks !
Cool!! Can’t wait to see pics of your build! The paint was nothing special… whatever we found at the local hardware store. And the foam isn’t attached to the crutches. They’re just a snug fit tightened with the thread on the edge. Hope that helps!! :)
@@jtrentadams thanks ! Already built my peg stilts and did a test walk with the crutches but I did not feel to comfortable on that setup. I think I have to lower my stilts or make the crutches higher.
Heyy, I just saw this video and I LOVE your costume! Its great! I just have one question, how tall are your stilts? Because i bought some that were 1 meter high and some that were 50 cm high, which ones should I use for the costume?
Thanks! I'd love to see how yours turns out, too! The drywall stilts we bought were adjustable between 24" and 40". Here's the link, if that helps: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GP04S5Q/
Well you could just find some rusty old fabric and find some crutches and stilts from amazon and probably find some fake leaves with some spikes on the back probably a mask with it too.
Okay so a few questions, where did you get that foam, I’ve been looking EVERYWHERE and can’t find nothing! That’s about all ill ask but I’ll edit this comment if I have anymore questions!
I have a big question im planning on making this costume, and i was wondering how long your forearm crutches were, and if you could provide me with a link that would be amazing.
Use this with a connecting piece for 2 people to be part of the same outfit, multiple eyes on the front. Attach an Abdomen to the person on the rear. Attach fangs to the front beside the eyes. You have a 2 person, functioning Spider Costume.
He said it's not too bad... but someone else in the comments did point out we hadn't optimized the height of the stilts which may have made things more comfortable. But yeah, he'd only spend about 30 minutes or so it in before taking a 10-minute break then go back out. The design helped ensure it was easy to don and doff for breaks.
I don't believe that this creature is from anything in specific... though it is kind of reminiscent of the landstriders in "The Dark Crystal". I've seen a handful of variations of the costume floating around the 'net, though, so perhaps it comes from something or another I'm not familiar with. Let me know, though, if you find out!
I’d design something similar like a gargoyle with retractable wings. That’s what I want to do. I think it’ll be sick. I’ll post it on my account videos when it’s finished.
If you were to make it for me and do everything I'd pay for it even like 300 bucks but seriously if you were to make this for me how much would you ask for it if not its ok I'd pay atleast 250
If I recall, everything together cost about $400 or so. I'm sure it could be done less expensively (e.g. using less expensive fur fabric). Plus, we bought new professional drywall stilts and crutches which you could probably find used.
Probably strap one to your body? Edited: buy a portal speaker Bluetooth it to your phone for sound effect, put your phone on airplane mode to stop incoming calls and notifications, hope this is helpful, Good luck

I like the ones that they do the like animals instead like the wolves and they walk like that on all fours. I am one of those but I do not use t. I’m basically a person with a mask and a tail and walks on all fours or just walks on my two little simple feet
