I am 60 years old. I was upset that my grandson was listening to "Disturbed", until I heard "Sounds of Silence", which caught my attention. I started researching and reading about David Drainman and maybe I was wrong! I read and listened to some of his songs. I grew up with 1970's Rock and the sound of "Disturbed" was, well, disturbing. But basically it is ok. I was shocked that "Prayer" was based on the plights of Job... Very Interesting...David Drainman, grandma says your ok to listen to.
That makes you an awesome grandma lol. Most grandparents I've known (mostly my own) cant stand, and don't care to listen to or understand the songs, lyrics, meanings behind the songs... But the fact that you actually took the time to do research and came to understand that disturbed isn't, I quote my grandmother, "Devil music" just shows that you care very much for your grandson and his upbringing :) which is more then I can say for some parents these days
My mom is close to the same age you are, she turns 56 this month, and she didn't care much for Disturbed either until I played "Sounds Of Silence" for her and she was actually pleasantly surprised at their take on it! Of course with my mom not being much of a metal head unlike me, the only other song from them that I could get her to listen to was "Land Of Confusion" and I also had her listen to "Darkness" and she did like those two, but with some of my favorites being "Stricken", "Voices", "Stupify", "Remember", "Prayer", "Deify", and "I'm Alive" those were all what she said as quote "Too heavy" I said "Mom, you listen to Metallica's "Black Album" and the Megadeth song "Symphony Of Destruction" and Disturbed is too heavy? I'm surprised you don't think of Linkin Park as too heavy!"

I stumbled on Disturbed while listening to random music videos & live concerts on RUclips. First video was Sound of Silence which blew me away. Listened to more of their songs & I’m hooked. My daughter who loves all sorts of music & has leaned towards up and coming non-mainstream bands was a little surprised as were friends my age. I’ve since convinced them that great bands come in all different sounds, styles & looks. Listen to the words & the message. Best wishes to all.

See, all the people that give aggressive music a bad rap, this video is a great example of how damn therapeutic it is. At least he didn't shoot up the place or get all his screwed up fantasies done. What'd he do? He went and bonded with the boys and it made everything all-right. It's pretty much the same that competitive sports allows as a psychological outlet for any existing frustrations about life, except in a more visceral, artistically expressive format. I don't really go to heavy music shows any more. But back in my younger days... What a life saver they were!

Draiman's face hasn't changed in 15 years other than the addition of facial hair. Look at the music video for, say, this song, then look at his face in the lyric book for Immortalized, or just look him up online. It's kinda creepy...

I’m a young 59 year old mom and love music of all types. That said, I left behind the 70’s & 80’s rock and roll. I stumbled on Disturbed while listening to random music videos & live concerts on RUclips. First video was Sound of Silence which blew me away. Listened to more of their songs & I’m hooked. My daughter who loves all sorts of music & has leaned towards up and coming non-mainstream bands was a little surprised as were friends my age. I’ve since convinced them that great bands come in all different sounds, styles & looks. Listen to the words & the message. Best wishes to all.

First time listening to Disturbed. Sounds pretty good. Whenever i listen to new bands, i like to start from their first album and go up from there

I figure I'd distill a tincture from a poisonous plant/tree to kill myself with, thus being poisoned with an entire group makes it less likely of suspicion if anyone survives due to timely medical attention.

Draiman's face hasn't changed in 15 years other than the addition of facial hair. Look at the music video for, say, this song, then look at his face in the lyric book for Immortalized, or just look him up online. It's kinda creepy...

John Moore It does a bit, I think that's a combination of the larger snakebite and a beard, also he's looking slightly downward in the image in Immortalized which can change things a bit.
