- After 27 years, my brother and I returned to Saudi Arabia in february 2020, just shortly before the world sunk into Corona-chaos... We had long dreamed of fishing the Red Sea after so many years, and hoped that it would still be as wonderful as we remembered it from our childhood.
You will also find a full report about our trip on my blog (both in english and german):

Easily one of my favorite Saudi fishing videos.
@@AustinLWright many thanks mate 🙏
This video means so much to me!
I am a mixed Saudi/American. My father is from Jeddah and my mother Colorado. I grew up in Jeddah and spent the last 12 years of my life in Colorado. In Colorado of course I fell in love with fly fishing for Trout in our wonderful rivers, and tie many of my favourite patterns at home. I have reached the point where even a full bathtub of water gets me thinking about fishing.
Obviously there are fish everywhere there is water. But it never occurred to me that I could take my passion for fly fishing to my childhood home! Thank you so much for posting this video!
Thank you so much for this comment, I really had to laugh about that bathtub... but I completely understand what you mean, I am just as crazy! Colorado surely must be a flyfisher's heaven, but you should definately check out saltwater fly fishing! The strength of saltwater fish is insane, and fishing in boardshorts is not that bad ;-)
This is simply amazing ! thank you guys for coming back and exploring flyfishing in our water... I have always wanted to explore the amazing coastline with my fly fishing gear but this type fishing is not common in KSA. Would love to host you again and please do let me know when you are back again
Many thanks for your comment and all the kindness we received in your country. I will contact you when I visit KSA next time 👍
One of a kind video.. Thanks 🎉
That was really satisfying to watch! I too grew up in the Middle East as an expat child in (another GCC state however) and I had the time of my life growing up there. I therefore understand what you must have felt being back in the Arab world again. I just got back from a weeks' fishing in the Kingdom and lived a somewhat similar experience. I feel like I recognize one of the spots you fished, not going to drop any names though. All I can say is you guys are crazy for using tackling those fish on the fly as they are just so powerful that even with heavy spinning gear they can reef you in the blink of an eye! What a great video that was to watch I wish there was more content!! I have videos in the making and I'd have volumes more if I had landed all the fish I hooked ;)
Many thanks for that long comment, and i am glad to hear that you have good memories from your time in the Middle East aswell. Sounds like you had a great time there recently. As soon as the world is somewhat back to normal, i hope to go there again. If you enjoyed this video, you might want to check out some of my other vids, there is one from Oman which you might like.
@@troutfishinggermany9186 Hey again, you're more than welcome! The borders are actually open at the moment and as long as you can get a personal visa (not a tourist visa) entering the country is fully authorized. I will definitely be checking out your Oman video, been there several times myself just never with fishing gear. From what I've seen so far the fishkng is just nuts there too 🔥🔥😉🤙
Super! Super! Super! You are amazing guys...
Wow Big Barracuda Bro.😮🐟🎣
Woowww saudi alawayd has a lot of fish!!!
Fly fishing in saltwater is wild
Great video, many thanks for sharing. I'm heading out to Saudi next week and will be near Hanak on the Red Sea coast. Having looked on Google Earth there are a lots of fairly remote and good looking fishing spots. Any advice for avoiding problems with the coast guard? Are the areas where you are not allowed to enter the water well sign posted? The 10wt is packed and itching to go!
Great moments captured. I will travel to Saudi soon and have some questions and request for advice. Can i write somehow to you Gents?
Hello there. You can contact me by email info@troutfishing-germany.com. Please don’t ask about specific spots though 😎
good job brother... big baracuda fish .. great strike..
Thank you mate!
@@troutfishinggermany9186 you're welcome..
That’s awsome? Where was it? I mean the region :)
@@SimonWyp Saudi Arabia… i wont give you any more details, sorry 😁
I like fishing bro but I don't have money to buy fishing stick am new in Saudi Arabia 😊
Wow amazing fishing video
Were you surprised after 27 years ? The culture and building ?
Yes! A lot has changed, the cities much bigger, the buildings higher. But the people are still the same, very friendly, very welcoming! The Arabian hospitality is famous for a reason! Very surprising was the fact that you nowadays see couples holding hands in public. Still in a very respectful way, but 27 years obviously is a long time… and the world has not stood still.
Wow great fish
Absolutely! Thank you for watching!
woohoo !!!
Do you have boots that allow you to walk on coral without killing it?
No, walking on coral is always bad for the reef, i dont think shoes exist that wont harm those fragile creations of nature. We were very aware not to do any damage and paid a lot of attention not to step on live coral but only on sand and the brown „rock“ in between corals.
Amazing! How is now tourism there? If is same fishing options in Egypt shore?
Not sure, Covid has made everything a bit difficult. Egypt has relatively strict regulations concerning fishing from shore. It is no problem to fish from boats though.
❤
Hello do you know what this place is called I live in Jeddah Saudi Arabia and love sport fishing and would like to know the location to check it out myself
can you give me the location of the place it looks amazing
Sorry mate, you know what happens when you publish good fishing spots on the internet….
Any beaches like this out by Jeddah? amazing drop offs and crazy clear waters!
There used to be nice beaches around Jeddah when we were young, but the area has changed a lot in the past decades. Not sure how it looks now.
Hi, I would also like to go fishing in Saudi Arabia. Can you tell me what fishing permits you need and how to get them?
@@danielstroiazzo8353 sorry bro, i don’t have much more information than on my blog troutfishing-germany.com. Read the article there and i hope some questions will be answered.
Hello it's been a year can you now tell the location because we have searched so many location along the both red and arabian sea but this location is still unkown.
Can you tell me where this place is if you don't want tell hear can you mail me plz
Professional anglers
I don't want to bother you anymore. What month were you fishing? Does the tide vary a lot during the year? I plan to go in February... thanks a lot
Tides are not really worth talking about in the Red Sea, the water fluctuates hardly a foot or two. February can be windy, and sometimes even a little rain, but since the ocean is wet anyway, whi cares about rain while you are fishing 😂
Headed to the Umluj area over Spring Break. Any suggestions?
Go to the coast guard first and aquire a fishing permit, otherwise the fishing will end soon. If you are fly fishing, the Umluj area is pretty good for trigger fish. These fish are great fun on fly gear!
@@troutfishinggermany9186
I spoke with a local who said a permit was not required for shore fishing. Only for a commercial operation. I will mainly be throwing silver spooners. We’ll explore the beaches to the south out of Umluj. Thanks for the info.
@@markvandyck1703 unfortunately everyone will tell you something different about the fishing regulations 😁. As long as you don’t step into the water, everything is relatively easy and probably noone will bother you.
Greetings! Which place is it where you Caught fish ? I mean is it near jeddah or is it any other place ?
Hello and thanks for watching. Please understand that I will not reveal the fishing spots in the video.
Is this near Yanbu, Rabigh, or North Corniche ? I love the Saudi Reefs !!
Hello, thanks for watching. Please understand that I will not name any locations... the Saudi coastline is wonderful along its entire length. Love it aswell!
@@troutfishinggermany9186 Its ok....dont sweat it Dude ! I know most of the Hejaz west coast line , from Farasan to Tabuk. There are many reef drop offs like this along the north of jeddah. I know two spots in Mastorah.
@@countdracula7235 can you share Mastorah spots? We live in Thuwal and explore Rabigh area quite a bit.
@@mrh2364can you share some good fishing spots in Rabigh -Jeddah area?
Which resort did you stay in Saudi Arabia by the Red Sea?
There are plenty of good hotels, in various price ranges up to first class accomodation with all inclusive. You cant really go wrong, Saudi Arabia has a very good standard. We chose Ibis, which is among the cheaper ones.
@@troutfishinggermany9186 Super!
Was ein Angelrevier!!! Ich komme wieder hier her . Und bevor ich Abreise werde ich nochmal drei, vier Tage das Riff ablaufen.
are you still in Saudi Arabia?
@@clocknews1647 no, unfortunately not. We are back in Germany… but hope to return again.
I am in Jeddah, really nice sea, how to join you to fishing?
Hello. I am back in Germany for now, but hopefully will be in Saudi Arabia again one day - such a great place!
