Do they know North Korea helped the Chinese against the Japanese around WWII? Do they know why North Korea wants a nuke? Do they know what happened during the Korean War?
What’s with the way the first guys pronunciation of o’s and u’s? Sounds like he’s turning into an upper class American which doesn’t sound right at all.
@11:50 The lack of "economic reform" in N.Korea disappoints Dr. Cha?...Should they adopt the Keynesian system and have some market crashes? Maybe if N.Korea could mount some effective change in their economy, if they were not alienated by the trade monopoly facilitated by the proliferation of the U.S. dollar as reserve currency, and 600+ U.S. foreign military bases. Dr. Cha should be disappointed in his own country's lack of economic reform, and stop watching so much sports.
@@barahng Millions starving to death looks like its own kind of economic crash, if you cant eat you cant work, if you cant work you cant eat. It is unsustainable. Something has to give.
North Korea rather spend money on more weapons than opening up jobs and Feed their people they'd rather other nations feed their people so they can continually to fatten themselves up. Someone needs to drop a nuke on wherever Kim is at to just end this mess.

There are 3 american accents that are non-rhotic; the Boston/New England accent, the old timey trans-Atlantic upper class accent and an old timey southern accent.
Thought the same thing. Either he was from New England and lost most of the accent or he’s adding it to sound smarter like the old timey trans-Atlantic upper class accent
Or he’s originally a man with a traditional southern accent, or one of the others, and has worked mostly successfully to incorporate a standard accent for his lectures. I find non-rhotic accents charming, but I’m from the south.
I love the term "selectorate." We have the same thing here but there are two of them. I give thanks that there are no more Kennedys left and the Bushes are history but unfortunately the Clinton's are still with us.
I don't think. Dr. Cha comes across extremely intelligent and knowledgeable intellectuals. Check out his other talks. I think this talk may be his worst performance among others. I am quite impressed with the breadth and depth of his knowledge and insights clear and well balanced.
who gives a shit that 100s are suffering in north korea, we need to focus on the really important things like rioting over a fair and legal election. socialism and communism are great, obviously. wait whats north korea? whats the ussr and who is this Mao guy i keep hearing about, sounds like a great guy.
Anyone interested in NK should look up videos by Michael Malice. His talks are cohesive and hold your interest.
thanks for the reccomendation I saw one and soon will see more.
I came here from Michaels videos.

Anyone interested in the DPRK should listen to actual communists instead of living in an echo chamber of bourgeois propaganda.
Thanks for posting this; a very interesting talk :)

The fact that he's holding that watch makes me think he is a very practiced public speaker
He is a total bore
Lovin The Old Dudes Wig At 45 mins. Lol.
He got sooooo bored at the start I was howling 😂🤣😅

Sound mid- Atlantic . A new accent brought to us by people who live anywhere and move anywhere for cash. It’s all the trend
Not even a minute in and uh I've heard uh the word uh almost 100 times uh. Because he has a diploma uh.

Alex Delarge Instead of market crashes they have millions starve to death. Brilliant.

Berkeley... the institution welcome to open ideas of all people... Oh wait, they chant and yell down those they don't like. So much tolerance.

Nice CIA-style story, bro 🙄
The host had an interesting accent. It was not quite American, but I could not place it.
It’s like he doesn’t pronounce Rs at all like a Boston accent without any other aspects of the Boston accent
There are 3 american accents that are non-rhotic; the Boston/New England accent, the old timey trans-Atlantic upper class accent and an old timey southern accent.
probably spent significant amount of his life in Australia.
@@Frankybeanselevators he doesn't sound nothing like an Australian accent.
This guy doesn’t have a New England accent. But he didn’t pronounce a single R that entire intro. So bizarre

Thats weird because i saw bush on tv a few weeks ago.
I thought it was Commander Data from the thumbnail
I TELL TOMMY A MILLION TIMES. HE DOESN'T LISTEN....
Er um er blah blah blah
Hey professor Sargeant, why dont you parse your speech with the word "uhh" a little more often, you may pass as Justin Trudeau one day.
@sorry mrgoogle My apologies. It was me parsing every partial sentence after each stop gap. I only have a hs education. Forgive me.

"Uh... Uh" is a sign of lacking intelligence... Well, it is Berkley..
You mean Berkeley, not “Berkley”. The misuse of the word “concerning” really bugs me, though. At least, it was in-depth analysis, albeit a bit boring.

Nah, just the sign of a bad public speaker. Or someone who is high and mighty enough that no one calls them out on it.
Actually it's a way for some people to think before they say something. It's like a pause without the uncomfortable sound of silence.

A word salad of right-wing propaganda masquerading as humor 🙄
