Not frustrating at all working on this buddy. A pleasure from start to finish. By the way, some people have asked and the Shawn Tubbs P90 will be available from James Tyler Guitars.
Hey Mike! I have a Super in my Tyler made by you!:) I have a quick question if you don’t mind. In your opinion which one of the humbucker pickups from Tyler have the strongest mid punch? Upper to lower mid register to cut through in a mix? Thank you so much for your work!
@oboyy In my very humbled experience, having three Tyler's now and a few other unicorns, incl two, made by Rick Toone: It'd be very difficult to top the versatility of the Super in bridge position, IF: you're playing a lot of styles up to hard rock/classic metal - shredding. Yes, you can augment more punch/presence with pedals going less hot than the Super if you're chasing more woody/organic colors, but it'll be very tough to wield all of the clean characteristics of the Super with any other high output humbucker. I'm talking straight into high gain amp, guitar at 10, wrestling the dragon for shred happy times, then backing that knob off into WOW! this thing really cleans up! I'm sure you know you're stuff, but you don't want to pigeon-hole a swiss army unicorn like a Tyler for any specific frequencies, but have them all at your fingers. Mid-freq cut thru should be done at pedals, amp, speakers, cabs, or console if you're tracking. To me (I'm nobody) the onboard mid-boost preamp is a color, not a tool for cutting thru a mix, unless that mix is devoid of a bass player, and/or keyboards. When I got my first Tyler it was like a blanket had been lifted off my rig. Since then, each one has been dialed to color-pallettes for specific tasks. I've learned that Fralin singles play very well with Tyler pups and vice-versa. The Super will live in the SE with 5500's because I don't want to mess with the HiFi mojo going on there - it really is perfect as is. I did swap a bunch on my Classic until happy times on a Fralin HSS set up, where I requested his PAF in the bridge wound a little hotter. Same with the Tylerbaster, but in reverse. Those two custom Fralin adventures were before I learned of Sonic, where I could have gone to the source. Oh well, live and learn. Good luck with your own adventure, friend! The best thing about Tyler's is knowing pickup results immediately.
@oboyy The Super does have a lot of mid punch. The CA Special does as well. However, the Super X probably has a tiny bit more. It’s a secret menu, tapped humbucker with both PAF-ish output and the high gain output of the Super. We might be splitting hairs though as all three are close. Your Super will serve you well for cutting through.
Congratulations on getting a signature guitar.....but it's all about your playing. Every guitar you play probably feels different to you, but at the end of the day, it's your playing man. I hear You, whatever guitar you play. And that is your magic.
Congratulations! Honestly couldn’t have guessed this being a signature guitar of yours! Nothing like the Suhr strat you play a ton here, but guitar life is more than just RUclips. Huge congrats! Killin it with the two Tilts, Revv now this! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
The only complaint or problem I have with it is that it's not in my hands right now. If you happen to stumble across another one you know, just sitting in your house somewhere, send it on up to Brooklyn! Gorgeous looking and sounding. Congrats Shawn!
Love the Soundeand symplecity of the Soap Bar and the pots bringing out Those tones of Mahogany Chaimberd body and Kneck!! I am pretty sure I saw this hanging in the back ground of your vids and I was actually going to ask about it..maybe did even..lol but I thought it looked cool! I love the chopped tele style bridges,,I just recently put one with brass saddles on a thinline tele I have with Jazzmaster pickups. cool bridge! Well congrats Shawn! Well deserved! Awesome guitar and your playing at the start is just so tasty! I have no other way to describe it..tasty is the word!!!
@@ShawnTubbs I replaced a dog ear P90 in an archtop with the DiMarzio Fantom P90 and was happy. Got Phat Cats in my Les Paul and though they're not noiseless they are sweet enough and have a great noise-cancelling mid tone.
Small headstock is a stroke of genius. Tyler should thank you now. It has been singularly the most off putting thing about these guitars - great as they are.
Yes!!! Very cool instrument. I was watching and thinking wow, Shawn is showing a lot of restraint today. Then I''m like wow, nice modulation and feel change. Then 1:13 happems...... 🤣I LoL'd with joy. 🔥
The use of mahogany in the "tele" type is not that common or obvious, and in combination with P90 it gives a very nice warmth, without losing the "tele-DNA"... Shawn - have fun !!!
Never played a Tyler, myself, but I’ve always assumed that they must be amazing because people are able to look past that absolutely hideous headstock and sing their praises. Then again, the headstock on my beloved Suhrs are not appreciated by many people. ;)
congrats on your sig guitar . me personally can't stand tele's and P90's just too bright and tinny an so uncomfortable to play my favourite is the musicman sihlouette special which they stop making i had 2 of them my problem was the frets would ware out in 3 months. sold them now have had nothing for 6 yrs cause to me there is nothing better out there. nice vid though
I'm not sure how Josh Smith or myself managed to come up with a guitar that is "more than a kidney". A kidney is a human organ. Lungs are important but you could live on one, a kidney is a big deal but you could live on one. I'm going with the heart. You can't really go on for too long without a heart. The human heart is "more than a kidney". All silliness aside, Josh and I are completely different guitar players and our respective guitars are also completely different. Thanks for watching!
The point of the analogy was to point out how the guitar is simply out of reach price wise for all but a few. Likening it to the heart only emphasizes this point more. Thanks. It’s not silliness to raise the question.
I do. Not as much as my Fender AVRI from 2017. I like the look of yours and really like the pickup. But the closest I’d get is waiting until they are used and even then hard to afford, or attempt a partscaster in which case it’ll never be what you really want. I don’t begrudge you or anyone for having the signatures. It’s just super frustrating knowing most like me will never be able to afford one. First world problems. 😊
@@gregjohnson6329 I do understand where you're coming from. I've played guitar professionally for over 35 years and have had good and bad days. I'm truly blessed to own some nice instruments and I don't take anything for granted.

Needs a Tyler-eske disclaimer: "Don't install this masterpiece of sonic innovation on a chinese knock-off expecting to sound like Shawn Tubbs."

Just heard about James Tylers passing. RIP. What a great builder.
Yeah, that was heartbreaking news. He was crazy talented and innovative. He'll be greatly missed.
Congrats brother. From having to sell one Tyler to having your own signature. Life is beautiful.
Sounds great Shawn. Real warm & throaty mids on that beast. Great take on simplicity. 🎉
Man!!!! Another killer track from Shawn Tubbs. The feel is out of this world. Congratulations Shawn on. your signature guitar. You deserve it. Cheers

Sounds killer! 👍
I’m sure it’s a combination of everything, but that P90 sounds fantastic.
And of course playability has to be amazing if it’s a Tyler…
Congrats again!
Beautiful!!!
Congrats! That's awesome to see you with a sig!
Those head stocks are terrible in my eyes though. Different strokes for different folks though.
Thanks! I get it about the headstock, it doesn't bother me but it is different.
well-deserved brother! beautiful guitar

I would reach out to Tyler. I'm not sure as it's a new "spec" model.
Congrats! Killer axe!
I want to love these guitars. Some of the coolest colours and designs and then I see the headstock. And my brain goes thats a No!
Yea, you watch the headstock when you play? That label is prestige and says you won LOL
Haha, I get it. The headstock is definitely different, and I honestly felt the same way until I played one.
Cool guitar! The best guitar I have ever played was a Tyler. Should have bought it, I still think about it everyday 😢😂

So expensive and outrageous. Yea, I want one LOL
Wow a simple Tyler, no switches, push/pull, etc.
Beautiful. I must have zero hum, but that's my problem. Sounds great, particularly in your hands!
Thanks so much. Yeah, the hum thing is a booger for sure, especially when it's a P90.

These going to be available for MSRP buyers? Single p90 ftw
I would think so.
Looks like a Supro a little. I bet it plays like a Tyler though. You dont play with too much dirt so that P90 sounds killer!
My last comment, would love to hear some other cowboy chord other than an E . E chord was made just for guitar LOL, always sounds good
Nickel frets? Is there treble bleed on volume pot?
Hmmm.. I never asked about the frets.. I'm pretty sure they're nickel. 250k pots with treble bleed.

So much yummy . . . nice!
Because a tele has never had a P90 ?
A "tele" with a chambered mahogany body and mahogany/rosewood neck would be rare with or without a P90.
Of course aplles vs oranges but this thing looks weird at least. Of course it is a good instrument after all but... Just no.
Aesthetics are important. It's to each his or her own.
Are you in a band? If not you’re wasting your life on RUclips.
I've done a few things. I enjoy this.
I’d guess this Josh Smith quasi copy is more than a kidney.
