This weekend (July 2022) I finally got to your video. I have a plan to build a 5 inch scale Polish live steam locomotive. And I was looking for information about the soldering of the boiler. Your video is very useful to understand the process of solder work. Thank you. But at the same time i am impressed that your skill of hand saw and filing handling is so great! Wunderwar! I can understand your situation because there are many flood here in Japan. I hope you will overcome the damage caused by the flood and issue the part 34 this year soon

Has this project been shelved now? What happened? Did the boiler fail pressure test and you gave up on it? Looked like a lot of work so I don't blame you. Can you give us an update please?
Thanks for your message, it has been shelved for a while. A lot other things comes first. Its just my hobby, and i share it if i have time to.... meanwhile i have a Family, a Job, several Houses, and a lot to do. But in the Winter time, i will find time! And if i feel to work on it, i will do.... lets see.... time will tell

I am blown away by your skills with hand tools and not using a mill to achieve high quality parts is possible. Thanks to your channel i can see its possible to do this small project to get my feet wet in model engineering. Did you find the boiler build hard as it looks simple from what i can see. Hey Craig, first... thank you So much for your comment. Yes... there will be a Q&A in the near Future. I 'll figuring out how it is set up. The Boiler.... First, .... the plans of JDW are awesome, but every Single plan has his own little "strange" or unusual Part.... in this project particullary the Steamdome, with the steam valve. If i had to do it again, i would design an copletley other steamdome design. Take a look at it... it is very unusual and hard to achive..... maybe a Single flue boiler with a pipe gasburner would do the job, and a simple Main manifold.... if you want to start with steam, my New series with the cracker is much much easyer.... but a lot of parts, that are to complicate for beginners can be purchased. I Show how and where. Stay tuned and dont miss that series. Again... thank you! And a nice and easy Start in the week!

I have watch the latest cracker video and love the listening to your thoughts on the project. The Decauville 020T is like a Great western Railway engine and that is why i become so attached to the project and that you shown how its very possible to achieve with simple tooling. Ich finde livesteam macht erst richtig Spaß wenn man mitfahren kann. Wobei allein der Material Preis wahrscheinlich mehr als doppelt so hoch ist als bei dieser. Ich selber fange jetzt an mit einer stationär Dampfmaschine , da ich als Schüler noch nicht so viel Geld für eine Dampflok habe und meine Drehbank nur etwas größer als eine Uhrmacher Drehbank ist
Alle Anfang ist schwierig. Und besser eher bescheiden an zu fangen, zu lernen und allmählig aus zu bauen als viel zu groß zu starten und nie zu vollenden. Auch hier gilt: der Weg ist das Ziel.
Hallo Deine handwerklichen Fähigkeiten sind beeindruckend. Bist du gelernter Werkzeugmacher oder Schlosser? Finde es gut das du alles von Hand selber baust. Solltest dir mal bei den ganzen Anreissarbeiten einen h Höhenreisser zulegen 😁

Einer von 10000.Was du da machst alles in Handarbeit ist echt beeindruckend nur eine Drehbank und deine Hände Top mach weiter so sehr schöne Videos und ein super schönes Modell. Ziehe meinen Hut vor dir.

And like i said much much much times.... the cracker is a nearby 2 year old project, on my PC Drive, and i give it out to fill up waiting time.... Thanks for your comment
Hallo Heisekartoffel. Da am 15.07. (Auf meinen Geburtstag) bei mir die Flut mit 1,30 m Wasser durchs Haus und Nebengebäude zog, hat es meine Werkstatt ziemlich mitgenommen. Es wird eine Weile dauern bis ich noch mal in meiner Werkstatt arbeiten kann. Aber ich bin guter Dinge. Bleib drann.... es wird weiter gehen! Grüße Chris

Just wondering what provision you were planning for a lubricator?
Cylinders are made of PTFE, and no lubrication System in the plans.... maybe i will add a displacement lubricator
