Your works r so great and has risen inspirational sparks for me❤...I am a student planning to join fashion school abroad... Thankyou for explaining in such a detailed way...❤may u be successful in all the areas u wanna shine..😌🌼
As a designer working at a fashion label, you should create your own designs and not "cheating" by looking at Michael Kors or Burberry garments, copy them and change them. You didn't make it very clear in what capacity were you working there. Also 10 years is a short time to work to many luxury brands as you said.
Thanks for the feedback but at what point was I cheating? Designers working in corporate jobs are given design briefs with competitors clothing all the time. It's a challenge that I have done and given many times and it's good to see how designers work in clear aesthetic and pricing constraints. I designed my own set of clothing as pictured, given the 'brief' I gave myself, maybe I didn't make that clear enough!
If you are looking for more education on a subject, the best thing you can convey is a willingness to learn. So, you need to show some sketches that you have done yourself and some beginning sewing skills. Try to make sure you show a clear focus, like casual women's wear, or men's athletic, or lingerie or children's. It can be anything, but as a graduate student you need to be able to show a bit more of a focused eyed than an undergrad would. You can practice fashion illustration from RUclips videos as well, (Zoe Hong is my favorite) and hone in your skills for the portfolio. Let me know if that helps!
Hi, I'm Diamond I’m planning to put in for a Undergrad program in fashion designing at SCAD and it requires a portfolio what if I have little or no experience? ANY TIPS OR ADVICE?
I'm planning to put in for Bsc (Hons) in fashion designing undergraduate after standard 12th!! And I have no experience in portfolio...what should I do...now I'm in studying in standard 10th!!
Do everything you can to show you have an interest! Take a life drawing class, a sewing class, show some hand sewing projects or small projects for you, your friends or your family. Show that you are taking the initiative ahead of time to work on those skills- this will make you stand out of the crowd!
I’m glad to be here. I’m applying for college
Thank you, I am applying for college.

Is it okay to include clothes that I made using a pattern, or is it better for anything going into the portfolio to be made entirely yourself?
