Yet another melody out almost us today! What a lovely joy to listen to this kriti on brihaspate from Kanchana Sisters. I still remember the old congregations held in the Maharaja samskrta shala in mysore where the great Veda exponents would take upon themselves to explain the meaning in this kriti 'Putra karaka', krodha kacha janaka, and Deena bandho '. They would imply that brihaspate would indeed bestow a good projeny and when these children went ferocious and bad tempered he would then make the miracle of making them understand the values of life and hence calm them down to a fruitful life. Since then, traditionally all kritis and devaranamas pertaining to children were set to this Athana Raga!
The kriti rendition, melodious singing, wonderful visuals and a magnificent mrdangam make it out worthwhile to listen to this many more times.
The Sisters have chosen the title verse under and inspiration 'Kanchana Sannibham'! Really, well done. 👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Translation
Salutations Brhaspati! Lord of Tara, one who is born of Brahma.
Oh omnipresent one, Oh Lord of great strength, Lord of speech, Lord of lovely Dhanus and Mina, whose form is adored by Indra and the other Gods, and who is the great intellectual honored by divinities like Madhava.
Oh most esteemed teacher of the Gods, wielder of the thunderbolt, of auspicious markings, teacher of the three worlds, one who is not affected by old age and the like, unexcitable, father of Kaca, the divine Kalpataru for those who take refuge in Him, who is a delight to Shiva and Guruguha, and the bestower of offspring, kin to the distressed, the manifester of the four phases of speech, an ocean of compassion. Who is devoid of all illness, the author of smrti, uncontrolled, the Lord of the Universe, the untarnished one, who delights in the worlds and is the bestower of vigor.
