I ultimately chose the Cambridge. It arrived 3 days ago. Ordered it from the KJV store for $205 + $18 for express shipping. I am VERY PLEASED. Such a beautiful Bible and excellent service from the vendor. The Alphabetical Cross reference section for notes and the notebook paper for sermon outlines sealed the deal for me. This is my first PREMIUM Bible, and the quality is unbelievable. The leather is soft, the paper is very opaque and the guilding is beautiful. I am undeniably satisfied

I was able to use a system of putting a letter next to the verses where I ran out of room & put the additional notes on the corresponding letter page in the back. The notebook paper I am using to put sermons & Bible study’s. Love the Allen as well. I’m grabbing me a Ruby reference for my handy size Bible for on the go.. God Bless
Got me a few Allen’s , A Blackface, which is the PERFECT Handy size Bible IMO & Black Silver Line 5WM, I couldn’t resist the deal BiblesDirect gave me. $200 for a “Slightly imperfect” which was actually perfect when I got it. If I had $350 to spend, I would still choose the Cambridge. The Allen is nicer, but dollar for dollar, the Cambridge is the best WM in the business.
I recently had the money to purchase a Cambridge in the calf skin edition, but had seen a couple of reviews that showed them beginning to come apart. People were needing to put tape on the covers, etc. That wouldn't really have dissuaded me, but then I saw the Common Man's Reference Bible with it's wide margins and went that route, especially when I saw the wide margins and the lined pages in the back of the 3rd edition. I was wondering if you had one of those and what your thoughts were on it.
Jason Genareo I was given a Common Man’s Reference Bible as a gift, but I did not need another wide margin Bible so I gave it away to someone who did. Yeah personally, I am not a fan. I don’t like the pro flat earth notes. I think the Ruckman reference Bible is a much better study Bible and it is now available in wide margin also. I do still have a CMRB in the economy hardback version.
None of the others you mentioned even compare to these 2 ... I personally never use the glossary or the concordance,,, what I'd like to have are the maps and the note paper... I've always preferred rl Allan , but after seeing just how little paper you get with them, I think I'd get the cambridge...
You really can't go wrong with either one of these Bibles. Much of what I said in the video are just my opinions and preferences. Others may have a completely different view! I want to like the Cambridge more, but the craftsmanship on the Allan is just better in my view.
I forgot to ask. How would you categorize the Longprimer Sovereign? I have a Longprimer 52, a Longprimer Sovereign 62, as well as the 5WM (among other premium Bibles). The Sovereign is just outstanding & gorgeous (as are all RL Allan's).
I own both bibles for the money Cambridge wins period ...Concordance, A-Z blank pages , 32 lined pages , translator to the reader and a perimeter stitched cover for way less $205 than the allan which of has 16 line pages and maps for $260 ..I like both but for your money the cambridge wins .
CBP's weakpoint is its paper no doubt. Too much bleed through. Their covers as you said, are great. The water buffalo full yap cover is just as good (but different than) my Allan 53. The readability however because of the bleed through is compromised. And I dont mean because of writing in the bible, I mean because of bleed-through of the text itself. I have a Cambridge turquoise to compare it to and its a significant difference. The goatskin cover on the Cambridge leaves a bit to be desired. It feels almost like french morocco. Its not very soft (very flexible though). Allan should really make a longprimer wide margin in this format. Theres still plenty of room for guys who like to devalue their bible by scribbles and highlighting, AND you get the benefit of a heavy paper for opaqueness for durability and readability in the superior longprimer text. If they brought back the 63 Id definitely grab one though. I have a 52 and I just never go to it in light of my 53, so Im leery of getting a 62.
I have glaucoma...and can seldom just pick up a book...or a Bible, and read.. I can tell you that a dark, clear font makes all the difference. It’s the most important feature to me, and is definitely a deal breaker. Having said that, I do look for the larger fonts..11pt. and 12pt. are good. I have recently begun replacing my Bibkes...needing a larger font now) and I am shocked at what is called LARGE and GIANT print these days. To csll a 10pt. Large, snd a 12pt. GISNT, is just not correct. Just ask someone who suffered from real. vision issues.

I too have glaucoma and suffer the same issue. Cambridge & Allan have the best dark font. I really like Schuyler's Canterbury but the font is a shade or 2 too light. Darken it up and that would be my fav.
I wouldn't fight you on size of type but yes, 12pt. is the starting size for Giant print but I've seen 15.5pt KJV Bibles called Giant print so that's the range. 17pt type is the starting point for Super Giant print with most of SGP Bibles coming in at 18pt.
Your right the Word of God built good is worth it and we know it is more precious than fine gold, so I see people all the time spending hundreds of dollars on worldly goods and entertainment but somehow they go cheap when it comes to the Word of God. I know more and more the good publishers and binders are going out of business and it is a shame that people get offended these prices. If you want a pair of jeans built like they were 50 to 70 yrs ogo it will cost you around 500 dollars or even more bc they are only made in Japan now. I am glad though that there are bibles for all budgets!
One big thing with me though thats a big turn off to me is, and ive wondered this for years FOR MANY YEARS ACTUALLY, why dont EITHER ONE OF THESE HAVE JESUS WORDS IN RED?
It’s a great question. Especially since Cambridge offers the regular sized Concord with red letters. You would think that either the Goatskin edition or the Split Calf (if not both) would have them. Oxford/Allan Bibles have never been very big on red letters. So I am not surprised that they don’t offer such.
Honestly, everything aboht Schuyler is better than Cambridge. Cambridge uses synthetic liners in every Bible except their Topaz. Don't get me wrong, Cambridge is one of the best, but Schuyler is a step up
I must confess the only thing I care about and want to know about is that Every Bible that is published says that Jesus is Lord and that it has John chapter 3 Verse 16 Also John chapter 14 verse 6 Also the most important scripture in The Bible to me is Revelation chapter 20 verse 15 Those kind of bibles the poor people can't afford only the rich people

I own the Cambridge calf skin. It is, indeed, falling apart and I have tape all over it. My next Bible will be an upgrade to goatskin, for sure.

NO, NO, NO! Only use Micron Pens that are bleed proof. Gel will seep through.

Yes, CBP's paper and typeset isn't great at all. But as they say you get what you pay for.
RL Allan is imo the best wide-margin ever made. Better paper and more room per verse than the Cambridge. Good review.

The Preacher’s Bible by Steadfast is 60gsm...yeah that’s right.....60. Not a KJV though
A 60 GSM Bible would be OUTSTANDING. The Preacher's Bible looks great, I'm just not a fan of the NASV.

I am not sure if I understand your comment. Neither of these Bibles were (or are) printed in China. Both were printed in the Netherlands.
