I'd love to get an actual pov driving impression from you Lou. This may not have been the best time for that here because it was a celebration and whatnot. Maybe better to go revisit them on another occasion so you can have them take it out and you ride in the back. I'm very curious about the noise level inside the vehicle with the windows closed whether it permeates inside the vehicle. It's a really cool vehicle in all though!
What a nice homecoming! The car is only half of the story here, but it is an honor to see it arrive to the museum and into Mr. Martin's care. Of all of the wonderful cars on display, this is truly a special one. Thanks, Lou!
The Tucker Torpedo was indeed special. One of the most beautiful and advanced designs of its time. Incredible craftsmanship! I would be so proud beyond words to own a Tucker. Loved this video!

What a great car Lou! You got this right after the Mecum auction last month, I was watching it on TV. This is truly a piece of American history. I see it has the accessory radio installed - Preston sold the radios to prospective dealers to finance production before the first car was built so there are actually more radios out there than actual Model 48s produced!
Hi Jeffrey, Happy to share this one with you :-) Good news! If you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Tucker" there are 3 of them on the Channel.
Wow…. now THIS is something you don’t see everyday. You don’t even see this every half-century!! And very cool Lou to tease the viewers with the scenes of the delivery truck and the “unveiling”! Nice job. Btw…. presuming you’ve seen the Tucker movie starring Jeff Bridges? It’s fabulous!!
Hi Dave, Happy to read you appreciate this Tucker and happy this "Trucker brought the Tucker" :-) Seen the movie. Good news! If you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Tucker" you'll see this one, and two more. Enjoy! Lou

Hey Jeff, You're right, you don't see a Tucker everyday......however I have good news! If you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Tucker" you can see now 3 of them :-) Enjoy, Lou
This car is a prime example of innovation and styling in its prime. Proof that Preston Tucker was a visionary. Sadly his vision was crushed before it could take off. And unfortunately the car scene hasn’t been the same since. I wish car companies today had a pair to challenge the norm with a different design like Preston did.
@@loucostabile thanks Lou. I have always been a fan of your channel. Passion for Cars run deep in my family. Running all the way back my Grandpa, who just recently passed away. I can’t say for certain if he watched your channel, but I know I talked about it with him 100s of times. Only 2 cars he loved more than others old Chevys and Hondas. Watching your channel helps me keep some of him with me through cars.

Tucker was so far ahead of his time that the big 3 couldn't handle it. It's a shame what happened to the Tucker. Didn't the headlight in center turn with the steering? Thanks for one of the rarest post-war cars out there Lou. Keep up the great work 👍👍
The center headlight not only moves with the steering, but also the linkage is designed so it does not move until the steering moves enough to make a turn. That way the light stays still for small movements of the steering wheel that normally happen while cruising straight and only moves when you actually make a turn.
Scott, Hmmm, I was there, but moving pretty quickly, so here was my time there to share with you (6 episodes), enjoy this 1st one, Lou ruclips.net/video/5uxIQs-ItNc/видео.html
This is one of your best videos ever, even better than the $5 million dollar 71 hemicuda convertible from france... that one was epic too but in a different way :)
That car is as old as i am,Tucker made a great car. Its a shame that the big three were so greedy. Can you picture what the Tucker would look like today God bless Preston Tucker and the family that owns a great piece of history😻😍😇
Hi Yoda Jo Lewis, Happy to read you enjoy this "great car" :-) Nice to know you and this Tucker share the same birth year. Make sure to watch the commercials in full before the video as that's how I get paid so I can keep sharing with you. Thank you, Lou
As others have already pointed out top number is body no. 1023 but at the bottom is serial no. 1021 which is how the Tuckers are usually Identified. Serial no. 1034 has body no. 1037 and vice versa. I could be mistaken but the biggest numerical difference between body and serial number I researched was serial no. 1023 had body no. 1008.

Congratulations to the new owners! This is the rarest color of the six factory colors (the 4 black cars are 1016, 1021 seen here, 1030, and 1041.) A seventh color (Opec Cameo Cream) was planned but 0 cars received that paint (so maybe that’s the rarest color?)
Beautiful specimen! Ahead of it's time for sure. I got a little angry watching the movie, Tucker: A Man and His Dream, shame this car didn't get to the public. The exhaust note is one I'd like to hear in person. I was sure you were going to highlight the center headlight. Where was the smoke coming from? Very nice car.

Great video Lou. Looked it up and found out Mr. Martin’s wife Sallie just passed on New Year’s Eve. That makes this video even more poignant since this Tucker was bought as “Sallie’s Car.”
What a treat to see this car! What was up with the smoke in the engine compartment? Nothing serious I hope. Didn't they offer custom luggage to go with the car? That leaves the new owner with something left to collect
I don't believe the Feds required manufacturers to use matching numbers until 1965 or 68, that would explain the number mismatching. Like your channel.

Cool! The engine definitely sounds like a helicopter engine. I'm sure they would have to do something about the loud sound if the Tucker went into full production.
Those engines were also originally air cooled in the aircraft application, because on a helicopter the engine can be mounted out in the wind. The engine had to be adapted for water cooling to run enclosed in the engine bay of a car without overheating, so Tucker had them modified with water cooled cylinders. The water jackets on the cylinders absorb a little bit of mechanical noise, so they would have been even louder with the air cooled cylinders.

Hi Rudy, Happy to read you saw this one on Mecum. Now you know where it's at. You're welcome, Lou

Thanks Lou, perfect timing, and what a gracious new owner. . . :>/
Timing was key for this video Dr. Candor :-) You're welcome.
If I remember correctly, only 4 Tuckers were painted black. Very nicely filmed, thanks Lou!
1 of 4. NICE!

Beautiful rare old car Lou beautiful thanks for the video.
Happy to share this one with you :-) You're welcome Leroy.
Tucker was so far ahead of his time that the big 3 couldn't handle it. It's a shame what happened to the Tucker. Didn't the headlight in center turn with the steering?
Thanks for one of the rarest post-war cars out there Lou. Keep up the great work 👍👍
Hi Pat, Happy to share this rare treat with you :-) Yes, the center light turns when you steer the car. You're welcome, Lou
The center headlight not only moves with the steering, but also the linkage is designed so it does not move until the steering moves enough to make a turn. That way the light stays still for small movements of the steering wheel that normally happen while cruising straight and only moves when you actually make a turn.
And that third light did not turn on until the steering angle was greater than 10 degrees. So it was off for normal driving.
Now this is a "Truck OF Treats!"
:-)
That's one cool looking vehicle there nice video Lou

The smoke was probably coming from the crankcase ventilation system I saw it too. No smog devices back then.
Yeah, that was just a little blow-by from the crankcase breather, perfectly normal for all engines of that time period.
Since I saw the movie "Tucker" I've always wanted one but way too expensive for me. One hellva car.
