  • In this video we demonstrate how to operate two popular transmissions tyles on John Deere Tractors, the 9F/3R SyncShuttle and the 12F/12R PowrReverser. These transmission names are specific to John Deere, but this demonstration would be helpful for any nonhydrostatic utility tractor in other brands such as Kubota, Mahindra, etc.

    that is really interesting. I've been borrowing my neighbor's Kubota for yard projects and he said he opted for the hydrostatic, and i figured "what were the other options??" well now i know! Seems like there's a learning curve but anyone could do it. Definitely glad for the hydrostatic on smaller properties doing simple loader work. Thank you for this video, straight to the point.

    I agree with this gentleman. The power reverser has a learning curve for sure. But after you use it enough to get in the habit of using it properly it is better.for one thing the clutch pedal is an electronic switch controlling hydraulics. Easy to push. That will spoil you. I really didn’t need the power reverser but I bought it for resale purposes. It’s what most people want.

    It's also good to note that the PowrReverser is a wet clutch.

  • @PilotLifeNet

    I would recommend that except for the condition of accelerating from a standstill or travelling gear change, to always have your foot covering the brake anytime the clutch is being engaged or disengaged. Specifically, when starting or stopping motor, going in and out of park or gear changes when stopped.

    I just picked up a 5067e with 12/12 PowrReverser. Do you have to completely stop to shift from forward to reverse?

    • @xriz00
      @xriz00 7 дней назад +1

      I have a 5075e, no you do not need to be completely at a stop when changing directions. That said I don't change it at a fast speed, usally its a very slow roll when I do and I will sometimes wait till I'm at a stand still before chaning directions.

    Hey, I’m in the market for a new tractor. What happens with the PTO speed when shifting a power reverser from forward to reverse? Does the PTO stay running?

    • @jkboyett2
      @jkboyett2 3 месяца назад

      Yes, I have a 5065E, and the PTO stays running in forward, reverse, and neutral.

  • @jimmyfreeze3782
    @jimmyfreeze3782 9 месяцев назад

    I am nit picking, but at the 10:00 mark you raised the throttle before engaging the powereverser which put needless wear on the clutch and saved zero time. Engage the powereverser at idle, then raise the throttle...takes the same amount of time with the least clutch wear. Granted there are situations where you need to engage motion with above idle rpm, but 99% of the time you don't.

    Question: if the clutch stops the tractor why do I need to break? Would I be able to clutch and shift?

    • @WesternEquipment
      @WesternEquipment  10 дней назад +1

      The clutch only puts the tractor in neutral, so on flat ground the tractor would naturally come to a stop but if you were on a hill it would continue to roll. And yes, you can clutch and shift.

      @@WesternEquipment I had an experience when I bought a 5060E and I didn't really like the PowrReverser because the unit that is on the steering column would always interfere with my movement to switch my turn signals on. I use the road a lot. I got pulled over by our county sheriff, fortunately he let me go and told me to get a SyncShuttle instead. My dealer was very understanding about it and helped me through the process to get it switched over. They had my tractor out within the week. I am going to buy from them every time I get new equipment.
