    UPDATE: My Fi Dog Collar BROKE - My Dog Got Loose

      In what way did it break? Is the collar not worth it? I have a 180 lb. Saint Bernard. When I take him for walks I put a choker chain on him but he also wears a 2-ply 1" wide nylon collar with his tags.

    • @samanthabarnes3633
      @samanthabarnes3633 4 года назад +2

      My dog broke his also, but a different part. They sent us a replacement at no cost. Now, we only attach his leash to a harness or different collar, just to be safe.

      GearJunkie.com what way did the collar break dude? Is it non functioning or did the nylon snap or something?

    • @SeanMcCoyOutdoors

      @@fro2905 The part that attached to the leash snapped. FI has updated the part in the meantime and I'll be updating the story soon. The link above goes into detail.

      Another update to this - Fi has improved the attachment point of the collar with a stainless steel attachment point. With this attachment it seems stronger than the original.

    I've yet to see a so called "review" of this collar that demonstrates how well it actually works and how long the battery lasts in tracking mode. Not sitting idle at home where they're safe. The 21 thumbs up must've liked the really cool and extra attention getting music at the beginning of this wonderful production.

    • @SeanMcCoyOutdoors
      @SeanMcCoyOutdoors 4 года назад +1

      It works fine in tracking mode. It's GPS, which is accurate enough to guide people in turn-by-turn navigation. So yeah, that part works. The battery life varies incredibly. My dog is never at home, so a couple of weeks a charge seems about right. Unfortunately, the actual collar, which you didn't ask about, broke this weekend. I'm updating the article related to this now because it's dangerous. I'm sure our videographer appreciates the praise of his production.

    But what if your camping site has no cell service. I’ve gone camping where it was completely dead. I had to walk a bit to a rock and climb it and stick my hand up in the air.

    Fi Collar owner here: please note that the GPS service you buy for this is PREPAID and they DO NOT OFFER REFUNDS AT ALL past 30 days for the service even if your device breaks and you can't use the service anymore. I paid for a full year of GPS service, $119, in Oct and my device broke in Feb and they will not give a prorated refund for the 8 months of service I can't use anymore. Also, the device never once actually was able to find the GPS cell phone network. If your dog is standing under a tree, its too much interference. Don't get the GPS. In my opinion its a scam.

    Bought one of these after the person I’m getting my GSP puppy through lost their dog for 2 weeks. She uses this collar now and it tracks very accurately. She showed me everywhere they traveled through the collar app because it recorded everywhere they went. For hunting dogs this collar is incredible. Obviously if you’re in the middle of nowhere with zero service it’s not going to do much, but From what I can tell you’d have to be in a valley to not have service in the state I’m in to not have service at all.

    The main attraction to me for thinking of buying this collar versus the whistle collar is the battery life which apparently on the FI lasts a week or so but on whistle Go like a day

    I purchased the Fi collar and I'm having difficulty with tracking my dog although I am "in range". Customer service is not responding to follow up emails. I've only used it for 12 days but they will not allow a return. I am having a very poor experience with this company. I see it's item was taken down from amazon, i'm curious if they did it to hide bad reviews.

      Bunny, you'll never get em on the phone, i tried a solid week, called them 100 times, left messages etc. I did correspond by email with some girl from Fi, she kept wanting me to explain my situation by email, i kept refusing and told her i wanted to speak to a live human about my problem, she said that would not happen. The last email i sent her i told her nobody is gonna go for that and since they had near zero customer service they probably wouldnt be in business very long. I ended by telling her how i wished i was closer so i could ram this thing a mile up her ass

    I could see the steps being useful when you hire a dog walker and you can check to make sure your dog really is getting the walks. I’ve had dog sitters who I paid for 3 walks/day and I found out that my dog was just being put in the yard to go poop 💩 but wasn’t getting any walks. 😡

    This is the first time I have had to rely on the collar to find my dog after he wandered off. It failed miserably. The collar never showed his location. Thirty minutes later a neighbor that lives about a half mile away called to let me know he had my dog, luckily he has tags on the collar that doesn't work . The collar never tracked him. I have had this collar for 6 months and I have had so many problems with this collar its ridiculous. it constantly need to be reset, the battery drains in a week, the base station constantly need to be reset, and the list goes on. The customer service is non existent so don't expect to hear from them any time soon. Don't waste your money, or find a better product . I would never buy another one.

    We’ve had the Fi collar for the last year and have tested its tracking feature on our husky quite a bit. I can’t say that it’s particularly accurate but by far the worst part is Fi’s ethics. Fi is a subscription service but when you attempt to cancel, there is no easy way to cancel except for submitting a “Request”. This is a scummy tactic to keep users from unsubscribing from the service because they make it so difficult. Besides the product, which works moderately well, I wouldn’t recommend this product.

    I got one and is the best ever what a peace of mind, we have no fence and if I don`t see my dog I just look at my phone and see right away where he is.He likes to run off at night so we have to use lost mode on him and we find him right away.No more guessing where to find him.

    Question: we don’t have any AT&T coverage whatsoever where we live and where we camp and hunt. There’s some Verizon coverage out here so my app on my phone with Verizon service can reach the internet but there’s no chance the dog collar would get an AT&T signal. Wouldnt the collar still get gps location from satillite and report it’s position that way? This is how my garmin inReach works. No cell service required and it can send location and text messages. Why do these dog callers need cell service? Major design flaw if so and total crap unless you’re in the city.

      The 1st time I purchased (June 2019) I was hoping for a great product. I believed the Company's PR that you did not need to be on AT&T service to have it work. We have Verizon. AT&T Service on the Eastern Shore of Maryland is poor. But, I went ahead and purchased. I did not work. I mean ZERO...
      So I returned.
      This August, AT&T "Lit-up" their service on a Verizon Cell Tower about half a mile from our home. So, I purchased again with the greatest of hope. Again the product did not work!!! I was receiving false signals from "my dog's collar" saying she was 4 miles from home when in fact she was sitting on the front porch.
      The Company's customer service is terrible to non-existent. No phone # to call only email and FAQ's. No human interaction. Zero...
      The email responses are very limited and "canned". The FAQ's are too general.
      Disappointed...Don't buy...

    The collar sucks we gone to the latest version / generation it still sucks. It reports slow by time you get its location in lost most the dog is long gone. If your dog has legs don’t bother with this collar. It updates to slow. No idea why the company told me for battery life but I have GPS Trackers of a similar size and battery life that can be switched into real time mode which is what you need to find a dog on the run. Don’t waste your money.
