He performed the song on American Idol in 2006, but if you mean the show where this exact performance was in it, I don’t know. It sounds late-80’s or early-90’s to me, but I couldn’t come close to telling you where it’s sourced from.
I believe the song was originally written in 1981. According to a story that I heard was that he offered it to Luther Vandross, but that did not happen.
@@StillOneder Stevie said it himself in 2005 at Abbey Road studios he wanted Luther to sing this song. This was shortly after Luther passed. Maybe Luther’s passing inspired Stevie to finally release it.
