Did Ace and Peter have their issues ? Yes, however they helped Kiss become what they became in the 70's during their heyday. They helped develop the Kiss sound and wrote some of their most beloved songs that Simmons and Stanley still use today. I'm not taking anything from G and P they are equally responsible for their success. It's a shame that the original line up was like oil and water. On stage they had a certain chemistry that couldn't be duplicatated. The original line up between 73 and 78 was an unstoppable force.

Paul Stanley basically revived Kiss singlehandedly in the 80s. I hate most of the music they put out in their hair metal days (COTN was the last good album, for my tastes), but mad respect for adapting and surviving. Like it or not, their current version is making truckloads of money, and that wouldn't be happening if they had crashed and burned in the 80s. Stanley has said a lot of good things about other people too, but this video series uses some selective editing to shape its narrative

I met Eric on the Crazy Nights tour on Princes Street, Edinburgh, Scotland. Grinning Eric and his pal (a grinning, rock-star looking guy) were following this total-knock out 'hippy style' dressed glamour-model looking gal who had just walked past (I later figured out that was Eric's girlfriend, Carrie Stevens. They must have just been pretending, playing 'follow that beautful girl' when it was actually his girlfriend). Eric autographed my Crazy Nights LP empty cover (I brought it in a shoulder bag with me, when I was around town that day, in case I bumped into KISS!). He was friendly, graciously took my compliments about how cool the synthsonics 'tune' was during 'last night's drum solo' (they played two nights at the Edinburgh Playhouse on the Crazy Nights tour). When I asked, he advised the other band members were probably around the hotel (Carlton Hotel, on the North Bridge). I wished him a good evening/show (for later that evening), and he and the other grinning guy scampered up the small staircase into a tartan tourist-trap shop. Eric was a good guy! On the 'Crazy Tour', Eric may not have been talking to Paul, but he talked to me! (And Eric and his pal seemed to be having fun: they were grinning and laughing as they pretended to 'follow' his girlfriend down Princes Street.)

@@biccytrollox I don’t disagree but I saw them on their first Original 4 tour in ‘96 and later at the very last North American show for Peter and they definitely did NOT disappoint. Of course at the ‘96 show I had won front row tix from a radio station for my Gene costume so that did not suck. Next to me and my buddy were 2 “ladies In waiting” who didn’t win a radio contest, but they did win a measurements contest and had the backstage passes to prove it. Lol. One liked G$, the other PS. So depending on who was at our side of the stage, they would take turns displaying their “affections” at their guy. Talk about sensory overload for us! That last show was great too but they were too damn loud. Me and my bud were hurtin’ “right between the eyes” for days. Lol

Just kills me how they talk about someone that can’t defend themselves. Don’t talk about Eric Carr if you can’t say anything positive about him especially when he’s not around to defend himself. And no one else can defend him either. Say anything you want just to make yourself look like you are the answer to everyone’s problems. So full of himself. But it sounds more like the problems he had before becoming famous and just put it on someone else. I’m sure when he was a kid people would ask him to come over and he was the one asking if anyone else was there and wouldn’t go if there was. Seems like everyone had problems except Paul.

Gee, can't understand why he started to resent Paul for blocking him from enjoying his free time musically. But, Paul has his head up his ass so far he didn't and doesn't care how he made Eric feel.

We were also at the airport when they were flying out and spotted them in an elevated seated area. Eric was looking over the railing, saw us and becond us to come up. However, when we got there their security told us to keep walking. None of the band would look at us apart from Eric who had an apologetic look on his face and who had obviously been slapped down. Obviously we were unaware of the band turmoil going on at the time but I never liked Gene after that.....

Kinda sounds to me like Gene lost interest in KISS whenever he couldn’t play his demon character on stage anymore. Paul was ultimately the glue that held KISS together, especially during this period of time. If they had kicked Gene out of the band, sure it wouldn’t have been the same band anymore, but knowing Paul, he would have made due without Gene somehow. These mid-to-late 80s albums are proof that they could have made it without him, in my opinion.
If Gene had pulled a coup, and got Bruce and Eric to help him vote Paul out of the band, they would have probably lasted only like 3 more years at most, and would have broken up after Eric died. The bottom line is, without Paul, there would be no KISS.

Without a doubt one of the lowest points for Kiss along with The Elder. The only thing memorable for me was the fact this was the only tour I got to see Kiss live.

Kiss are the worst example of 1980 hard rock.
Every song was all pop radio friendly rubbish. The only thing that has carried Kiss for however long it’s been, is the band’s past
