- For some reason I had this Rodgers & Hammerstein song from South Pacific in my head, but here is a great version by Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1996) with Gordon Jenkins. The great Ella recorded this in 1949.
I can't believe Ella FItzgerald did this song! Naturally, it's the best version, no competition. How in the world did we ever deserve her?
"you gotta have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna make your dreams come true?" How utterly true and meaningful. Nothing expresses collective wisdom more than the profound statements you find hidden in good music.
Ella is my shining star in the night.
Oh my favourite lady Such a wonderful voice I miss her I lived to listen to her singing from a young age
This is from the Rogers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific. What is this story about it being co-opted as an advertising jingle??
