    Finally, some regression analysis. A less "OH MY GOD LOOK AT THIS" kind of survey but something that I really want to do anyway because I love studying what makes people spend money of stuff.

    As someone who bought the $100 pack first when I was buying it was because if you had top up bonuses doing so guaranteed you a 5 star character. Not enough to guarantee if you lost the 50/50 but it's a good place to start if you want to make sure you get a certain character, then you go down and get all the packs for the top up bonuses if you want more copies. This is what I did when I C6'd my Xiao when he came out. It was very painful.

      The follow up question I'll say is if I would do it again and I wouldn't. If I knew his banner would rerun like they do now I would have just saved over time and not spent the huge wad of cash. Fomo is indeed very powerful. I hope this helps someone debating on a character and I highly recommend the mindset of looking at how much money you spend and not thinking of I'm rolling for X. It helps a lot to curb your spending and gambling!

    An interesting point, or perhaps a separate survey, would be to also ask people about their behavior pulling/buying weapons.
    For me, i usually have enough free primos to get C0 of a character, but i usually end up spending if i also want their weapon.
    At the same time, im usually still pulling the weapon for aesthetics, and not gameplay reasons.

  • @lemonyburn

    One of my main reasons for spending in Genshin is whether or not it's going to affect their gameplay. I will only do it for characters I like, but if I feel like I can get a different play style which also interest me, I'm practically locked in. So I save until one of these characters rerun (currently Yelan, Nahida, Kazuha) and then spend to get at least two constellations, to make some dent to get them C6

      It’s not exactly the same since with figurines you spend a set amount to buy the thing you want, but Genshin is a Gacha game so it’s a dice roll on wether or not you’ll get what you paid for

    • @euranaao9362
      @euranaao9362 3 месяца назад +3

      @etheliaowo7533 Not if you are specific. Let's say there is an auction going for something you really want to collect and enjoy, but you'll lose it to somebody else. That's when the pressure comes in until you are guaranteed the character. It's a really easy concept. Not to mention that to a lot, gambling in itself can be a hobby. Other examples might be you investing in a purebred cat that you want to show. You have to pay a fee in order to have a chance of participation, but you are not guaranteed a win at all. Indeed, you won't even get a prize in the form of money, just a ribbon at most. You look at it from a very based perspective that completely dismisses what a hobby is.

Neuvillette I absolutely love, as a Character and lore wise. He also happens to be really good. Arlecchino for her lore and she is also strong and fun. Never got HT, so I did want a Pyro dps. The ratios do get better for higher prices of packages of primos, but it's not a big effect. The fact that the first purchase gets you double might be more of an explanation. it heavily incentivizes against constantly buying smaller packages in favour of one big splash.

  • @FlashKillerX
    @FlashKillerX 3 месяца назад +10

    the thing about the crystal packs is that the largest pack is the best value, and it's also pretty much exactly 50 pulls. If you're buying pulls just to close out the last stretch you need to hit pity or something then a small pack may make sense, but if a player is just purchasing gems to get a character, the most expensive pack makes the most sense to buy for that player rather than buying the $30 or $50 packs multiple times and missing out on the bonus crystals. Worst case you may have leftover currency to save towards the next character.

    Most understand that the bigger the pack, the better amount of currency for your dollar. So if you're going to top-up to get a character, you might as well buy the biggest pack that gives the best value overall, even if you won't need all of the primogems for that particular banner. You can save the currency for later. If you could only buy a particular unique currency for a character, people would buy as little as possible to guarantee the character.

    Only at 5:10 of the vid, and got me I would rather buy the largest since it will also offer the most bonus amount, and I will usually only settle for smaller amounts if I don't have enough money to spend, but I guess consider it like bulk buying, you're gonna buy anyway why not buy one that is the best value? Just because it's less affordable doesn't mean it's less likely to be the most bought, though I only buy the higher top ups when I still have the double bonus, if I don't I simply either settle the lower ones I haven't gotten the double bonus on or just wait for the anniversary bonus reset, that's another thing, I would want to try my best to save enough before the bonus reset so I don't feel like Ill be in a less favourable situation next time I top up that big of a amount.

    I've been a BP/Welk sub from the very start. I'm only missing four 5* chars so far, though will probably miss Sige, cause Clorinde came home on 160th pull. My main and only reason for pulling has always been "I want them all". Never cared for constellations or how the char looked. Also have all of my chars at Friendship 10, so it's not like I have some inherent preference of one over the other.

    I really enjoyed the game at launch then realised buying more than Battle Pass and Welkin didn't give me much in the game so stuck with that.
    I will say I was baited into getting C1's the first year of Genshin as a Mobile player. But for DPS units it just better to get less DPS's in general and invest into the few you actually like playing. 😅 For Fontaine, I've only gotten Neuvillette and Archechino as DPS's and invested into those units along with basic C0 Furina.
    You get a bit of a discount on the highest pack of Genesis crytals. Not huge but enough to warrant it, when you need like 150 wishes converted to get 5 star.

    So, I'm a weird case, in the sense that I do not pull characters but only weapons. I have an r5 mistsplitter, r5 light of foliar incision, r4 kagura's verity and many other r1s that I either got on accident, or didn't wanna pull more for. I've spent twice, and once it was to get alhaitham's weapon to r5, and once was to get jade cutter, on the absolute insanity of a banner that was 2.5 first half. I spent around $150.
    I choose to pull weapons when they're literal character kits on their own (foliar incision, redhorn), or are very strong weapons that fit many 4 stars, as I almost exclusively use 4 star characters to clear abyss, with the sole exception being keqing. Or in rare cases when the 5 star weapons aren't signature weapons of anyone (jade cutter) and they won't appear on a banner for a solid 2-3 years.

    8:07 That's the thing, there can be low amount of primos on the events per patch, but those primos are incredibly easy to get. They're always in the lowest score rewards, and that makes it achievable for everyone as long as they do the events.
    Aswell, if your characters are well builded (not godly builds) based on your teams and you got nice hands, you can afford to get the spiral abyss primos with ease (I know this abyss may look like made by devil, but cmon, the most annoying thing is the first chamber and the consecrated beasts are not that bad).
    And we can't forget about the daily primos, which may look like nothing, but hey, there's something called "Savings". It doesn't matter if you are a F2P, a "Nemo" or even a Dolphin, if you really want something, you will act responsible with your currency and not mess up. Just like real life, it's basic knowledge that helps (unless you're a whale, in that case go on and get all the characters you want on every banner lmao). A extra point for dailies is that you can explore and get primo chests along with daily rewards, so yeah the explorers that still have percentage to complete takes a W on that.
    And for the last (doesn't have primos or abyss involved but still), the mobs on open world and domains are easy to farm too. You may not have the greatest stats on your team if you are early game player or anything else, but there's still dishes that can improve your stats for the moment, and heal your team if you don't have a builded healer yet. Potions and parametric synth exist for more farm, and you can even create portable kitchens on the smith if you don't wanna find wild camps. Funny how people seem to forget this assets just by the magic view of things like perfect artifacts and good rolls on gacha (no beef intended, anybody forgets sometimes :P)
    But yeah, if you have knowledge and know what you're doing then genshin becomes even easier. After all, it's just a casual RPG gacha game.

    as someone who's bought the $100 before but never any of the others, the reason why that one specifically is quite simple: 'including the 1st time top up, its the only one that practically guarantees you something in return'. Anything you're left over with at the end just goes towards saving for the next character.
    For the last 2 years, I bought that pack between xmas and my bday. It wasn't money impulsively spent after running out of primos but something planned. I'll probably do the same again next year if I really enjoy natlan.
    Two other random thoughts.
    -Personality being most important makes sense to me. Between combat, aesthetic and personality value, personality is the only one I CANNOT look past if its bad. I would hate every second of time playing a character I actively disliked and be genuinely dissapointed in myself if I pulled/played them for 'meta' or 'power'. On the other hand, I'll take any excuse to play a personality I like, even if their combat prowess is lacking (looking at you dehya).
    -This video also reminded me I recently asked myself 'how much is a genshin character actually worth?' and was genuinely shocked that I couldnt answer it, even just for myself. Its probably why the business model works as well as it does.

    5:07 my philosophy of buying is next: buy only if you sure it's worth it. For example, I wished on chronical banner all my primo savings to get Albedo constellation. Cause what all what I had - primogems from 4.6., but it won't help get Clorinde AND Furina. So I bought 100 € pack. I had 100% for Clorinde, obtain her and now I have still 119 wishes for Furina

    hi aster! it's super interesting that you're looking into this. to your question of the 6480 pack being bought the most, my hypothesis is that players who have money to spend will look for the pack that will give them the most currency (in this case 6480) -- so, it's most popular due to it being the biggest pack (opposite end of the spectrum) as opposed to people looking for that 6480 quantity itself. especially with how it's marketed, you get more bonus the higher pack you buy (i.e. 6480 bonus crystal when you buy 6480, for a 12960 total). so it feels like you're winning more free items by spending more money
    i wonder if that makes the lesser packs less appealing, and thus incentives people to go all in and buy the biggest pack as opposed to multiple smaller ones

  • @Beep_boopz

    The reason why most people buy the highest amount pack is because it’s seen as better value and there’s also a top up bonus for first time buyers that resets each patch or so. Also, purchasing a lower pack just wouldn’t make sense because it takes a lot of genesis crystals for a 5 star and even then you could spend the rest on future characters or the god forsaken weapon banner.

    I mean, if you do the calculations for how many primos/genesis crystals, the $100 pack is the best deal:
    - 60+0 gc, $0.99 -> 60.61 gc/$ (genesis crystals per dollar)
    - 300+30 gc, $4.99 -> 66.13 gc/$
    - 980+110 gc, $14.99 -> 72.72 gc/$
    - 1980+260 gc, $29.99 -> 74.69 gc/$
    - 3280+600 gc, $49.99 -> 77.62 gc/$
    - 6480+1600 gc, $99.99 -> 80.81 gc/$ **best deal w/o double bonus**
    So I imagine anyone who has the werewithal to spend $100 and eventually plans to on products outside of the welkin & bp will choose this one.
    By the same token, I imagine most people who actually do the math (& again with the caveat of having the wherewithal to spend that much) will buy all the double ups, given that they all give more gc/$ than even the normal $100 pack
    - 60*2 gc, $0.99 -> 121.21 gc/$
    - 300*2 gc, $4.99 -> 120.24 gc/$
    - 980*2 gc, $14.99 -> 130.75 gc/$
    - 3960*2 gc, $29.99 -> 132.04 gc/$
    - 6560*2 gc, $49.99 -> 131.23 gc/$
    - 12960*2 gc, $99.99 -> 129.61 gc/$
    As for some of the smaller packs get more buys than the middling amounts, I imagine that has to do more with people who wish to spend, but don't have much to spend, & therefore buy the biggest they can afford or the smallest amount that gets them to their goal.
    For those who want to see the math on the welkin & the bp:
    welkin - 300+90*30 gc, $4.99 -> 601.20 gc/$ **by far the best deal in the game**
    bp - 680+160*4 gc, $9.99 -> 132.13 **better than any of the double bonuses** (only counting primos & wishes, nvmd the other benefits including the extra resin & bp weapon) (gnostic hymn, not gnostic chorus bc that really is a waste of money unless u r that desperate for additional furnishings, name cards, & resin??? nobody needs help wuth getting to 50 if they play even 15 min a day, most days)
    Obviously, the prices, and therefore the exact numbers, will be different for different currencies/countries, but I imagine the general pattern is the same, so this is how I imagine you get the results you did for which packs get bought. It may even explain a little about why how much someone wants a character doesn't entirely correlate with how much they spend on any particular banner.

    As someone that was playing MMOs back in the good old days (2000-2012), the money I spend on the game currently (BP and Blessing) are the "monthly subscription" that I invest in it for it to get even better (which does with every update).

  • @_Nyxus_
    @_Nyxus_ 3 месяца назад

    Honestly here's my personal experience: buying welkin and BP (cheaper one), doing the events, exploring and finding all the chests, plus only going after the male characters has me set. RARELY do I have to put in any extra money. Sometimes I pull for more cons in first banner if possible, like with Neuv I got c1. But most of the time I'll just pull one of the characters, and maybe try for the bis weapon if I feel like it or like the character enough. If you pull for weapons and lose 50/50 you still get a 5* weapon that can be used on someone, same with losing 50/50 on characters. Technically the game isn't so hard that you HAVE to have super strong characters, it just makes it easier. So F2P players can still utilize what they get when they get it and people like me can still get the character they like.
    As much as some people don't want to admit it, when it comes to characters and pulling, Genshin is fairly forgiving. You can still use what you get and make it through the game regardless on who or what you pull. The game isn't meant to be difficult but in some cases it does force you to adapt, depending on the person's mental state, time management, life responsibilities, experience in games, etc.

I realized there's not really any point in my spending money for pulls. I'm not willing to spend enough money for the guarantee. I'd spend $50 for a character I want. I'm not spending hundreds. Anything short of that though is just gambling.

    I veiw my video game spending comparative to the movi theatere. If a single movie is 15 dollars for 3 hours of entertainment (im using easy numbers for easy math) then every hour i play a video game should also be worth 5 of my hard earned smackeroos. So i normaly play f2p but very occasionaly ill lash out like a shark and get the 100 and maybe even 50 + welkin. This usually occurs when i REALLY like a character and want their weapon but i lose my f2p saved 50/50

    My daughter was a young teen when this come out, and all her friends were very invested as well. I ended up using it as a way to teach her about budgeting.
    I explained I was willing to spend for this like we would buy any game at the store. So she had $60 to spend. She would get hyped for just about every banner, and would save her in game gems. Ended up spending the money on the monthly passes a few times to help level and save some extra gems when there were banners she particularly wanted.
    She was very good about picking and choosing and saving to guarantee she could get who she really wanted while understanding she wouldn’t get everyone.
    Kokomi and Diluc were her favorites by far.
    Discussed treating each land as you would an expansion in the store, but she moved on to other games.
    I was roped in when she asked for help in some areas at times. And I mostly played with her at first. I joined purely FTP. My philosophy was simple, if unwise from a purely meta perspective. I pulled for 4 stars, figuring maxing them would be more consistent than gambling on 5 stars. Noelle, Rosaria, Beidou, Sayu, Xinyan (since amber is too rare) and Barbara were pulled to max them as they were my first in each element.
    Eventually Collei was added as well. I rather enjoyed the random nature of this being cobbled together forcing me to adapt to what I had, and enjoyed the simple gameplay and the story…up to where it seemed to be dragging for me in Sumeru.
    If I start playing again, I’ll likely only pull on the standard banner.
    Enjoy following the lore on here despite not actively playing lately.

    i have multiple considerations when it comes to 5 stars. im very close to ar58, started on the last day of nahida’s banner in 3.2, and i buy welkins every month and occasionally the battlepass, though not much anymore as i have all the bp weapons i want.
    personally, i focus on getting the main DPS character i really like (alhaitham, neuvillette) and then save up for characters on their respective teams to really make them shine (after sorting through a lot of different teams to find ones that have characters i like on them). for example, i don’t really like yae, but she works great with neuvillette, yet furina is one of my favourite characters and i pulled her so she could be on neuvillette’s team alongside yae. and, with alhaitham, i chose a quickbloom team because i love nahida and kuki, so i ended up pulling for nahida.
    i like having teams where i don’t use characters on multiple teams (e.g. xingqiu with both alhaitham and wriothesley) and instead each team having unique characters (so i replace xingqiu on wriothesley’s team with mona/kokomi).
    and, for me, i only pull weapons if i really love the character and have their team completely decked out (to my satisfaction, at least). an example of this is i pulled for alhaitham’s weapon as i got him on his first banner and have mained him ever since, and got all of the characters i planned to have on his team. in the future i will pull for neuvillette’s weapon after pulling his c1 and eventually getting either jean (who i still dont have at ar58) or baizhu (though i’m praying another team-wide healer comes out as i don’t really like baizhu), then also wriothesley’s after getting all the characters i’d like on his team (kokomi, shenhe).
    my main considerations are a character’s personality and a bit of their looks, but the deciding factor is their playstyle. i adore itto, but i cant stand his playstyle, so i haven’t pulled him (though i probably will once i’ve finished my current teams).
    i do have characters i regret, as i pulled for wanderer spontaneously at like 1am and never use him because his playstyle is kinda boring, plus i don’t like his personality and i hate using bennett who is integral to his teams. i kind of regret tartaglia, but he was my first limited 5* and i used to use him so often so he holds a special place in my heart, and i will possibly take him off the bench soon.

    People going for the biggest pack isn't suprising - it's the most primos/dollar, and the margin is fairly large compared to the 60 primo pack. People who only want to spend small amounts of money are better served by Welkin or Battlepass, and higher spenders have likely already bought those.
    The way Genshin prices are structured, the only real use case for the smaller packs is pushing over a small gap to hit pity. If you want to pull for constellations, you need tens of thousands of priomos, so buying at the bulk rate is the only one that makes sense.

    I may be a minority but I buy things in the game because I like the game, not because I want something particular. I have a job, I like getting money for what I am doing so I also understand that if I like what people in Mihoyo do, giving them some money for it is the right thing to do.
    Also, the most likely reason why people buy the most expensive crystals package is that starting with second purchase, it provides the cheapest crystals. And the difference is substantial.

    I would say I only pull characters I like in lore if they are not a main DPS. Unless they're a four star, which I will pull if they have a good design. I pulled a Dehya and Tartaglia trying to get c0 of four stars. I would have a lot more wishes if I didn't go for so many four stars.

    i only purchase welkin when i know i have nothing else in game to grind out and will play every single day.
    used to buy bp all the time but now i only get it when i consider the namecard pretty enough to spend $30 for.
    i don't get crystal packs anymore as im not desperate for the characters im wishing, since i save up for about 1 to 2 patches before i even consider pulling anyone.
    still somehow spent $1k to $2k on genshin though...

    Most people that are willing to buy primos and nothing else are already in deep and might as well buy the big pack that gives them a "better value" whatever that means once the double purchase bonus runs out, the other packs are pretty much there entirely to get players that swear this will be the only thing they buy (wrong) and need just the last bit of primos for the pulls needed to hit pity again

    In my opinion, people who think genshin gacha system to be oh so horrible are pretty much those whose first gacha game this is. It's not wrong to dislike the concept of gacha itself; it's gambling and theres no denying that, but I think theres things that genshin just does different than other gachas Ive experienced
    I've found the whole guarantee and 5* systems are different, I think theres a bias here because my area for other gacha games is idol rythm games mainly, but while those games give you quantity over quality (compare LLSIFAS; UR rate of 5%, rateup for on banner card of 0.5%, meaning that every 2nd 10pull you get a card of highest rarity, but its only a 1/10 for it to be the one you want) genshin only gives you a 5* usually at soft pity 70+ and then you have a 50% shot its who you want. Another key difference to me is while in those other games, the guarantee is a last resort, a thing that you will more not experience than you will (again compare LLSIFAS: 0.5% rate up, guarantee at 250 pulls. The odds are 1/200, so you have to exceed what is "likely". Or in drastic cases, the old LLSIF didnt even have ANY guarantees, theres videos of people doing 2000 pulls not getting what they want) while in genshin, and I dont know about your guys' mindset, you always have to assume youll get to pity, which sets a realistic standart imo. I believe that genshin is also incredibly generous to even have pity carry over to another banner; these other games simply don't have something like that and genshins generally the first time I heard of that. These are factors that make me believe that genshins gacha is actually quite transparent; Where stuff like this really matters is when you say you want to spend money, so the advice is easy: If youre not ready to hit 150 pulls, probably don't spend, but even if you DID, youd still get your 50 pulls (in a big packs case) worth for a future banner.
    According to the video, many people DO say that they think the pity system is fine, the big issue is the rate at which you get primogems, which is usually like 50-70 pulls depending on what new permanent content (regions etc.), which is a reasonable request, but when I try to rationalize it; if you are invested enough into the game, odds are youll be someone to buy welkin more or less regularly, making your patchly gain of pulls a soft pity worth of gems, and a lot of people in this survey are long time players. We can also assume 2/3 5* characters pulled are on rate up. So the picture in my mind is like this: long time player => probably has a lot of old characters they enjoy already, more likely to pull new characters and have welkin => with one 5* releasing every patch with minor cases of 2, but sometimes none (tho we have had 2 patches in 4.x with 2 5*s and have had a greater influx, which I am not a fan of in all honesty) I would think that a player like that would be able to get 2/3 of new characters, if we assume earlies which are not in the equation probably even more, so wheres the issue; do people play with the intent of getting EVERY character? Sure, constellations and weapons exist, but unless its one of my really big favourites Im not that crazy for cons personally, and I only wish one weapon banners where I want both options and stop after one 5* (assuming its onrate), so idk how many instances of those other players have, but it seems managable?
    I'm not trying to like... glaze hoyo like their intent IS to get money out of you so they have according business practices, but Im just trying to share some of my thoughts (especially on that last paragraph, cus I think I may be on like the verge from dolphin to whale so I may not be the most relatable)

    About cost: i dont buy every patch but when i do it has to be wort it (this will matter i promise) first i use all of my saved pulls and pulls i made in the events and exploration to 100%. If i cant get the character there are only 2 choices. $50 and $100... the cheapest pack us so bad its better to just buy multiple Welkins. If i remember correctly the second pack barely gets you a 10 pull so because of that and the bonus pulls youre offered. $50 is for when i dint have the money but hope i can win the 50/50 and $100 is me when i have the money and i dont care about the 50/50

    I spend in genshin because I think that the game has a high production value and I enjoy it so much, I feel like the money spent is being spent back into the game and it's community;
    Some may erroneously think that miHoYo "doesn't care" about Genshin, however the updates remain contentful, the music remains great and the composer team is larger than ever, the new regions are consistently humongous, the new stories are better and better, the scenery is gorgeous; They could have reused the same Liyue pallette to do Chenyu vale, but they made it entirely unique and astoundingly gorgeous. Yeah, I overall think Genshin Impact is great and it remains my favorite game of all time
    Now the character I spent the most is Furina, because I absolutely love this character, she's so deep and nuanced and amazing, she's what I wish more of the game's writing would look like, she is brilliant. I went balls deep, C6R5 right away and I wouldn't go back

    the vast amount of people dont care about community notes, like ever
    130k subs
    2k people that even saw the community notes and bothered with it
    thats abyssmal, thats not even 3 %
    and personally? why would i care about a video about a survey when u literally know nothing about said survey, half hte point of hte video, gone to the wind like leaves in fall
