I just acquired the classic model and came across this particular video. To see how far your content has come is amazing. Awesome work buddy keep it up!
They are great guns, I have a 556R which shoots 7.62x39 and uses all AK mags. I had a 1st gen that had issues with FTF FTE issues and steel mags ate up mag catch but they serviced it (Lifetime Warranty) and added upgrades and its awesome now, and they now ship with all upgrades and seem to run flawless.
Sig Sauer does make great guns. I've got a P229 in 40 S&W and a spare barrel in 357 Sig. I have thousands of rounds through mine without any problems. I only had to replace the soil spring and that was it.
I've owned my 556 Patrol SWAT for a couple months now. Mounted an Aimpoint CompC3 in a low ring after installing MFI folding front sight. I'm very pleased with the result.
Have the same model built in 09, never had a problem with it. After 9 month wait for tax stamp it went to Sig for the 10" barrel, best decision ever!!! Makes a big difference in weight. Next I took out the sig furniture and added a Troy rail with micro sights. Was able to find the new lower the SIG 556xi lower ambi controls, by far my favorite rifle even though the way that the old ones came from the factory was sad, QC wise, canted gas block, rattle box. With the mods it is one of the best!
I love AKs & ARs couldn't decide which would be my SHTF gun. So I got the Sig 556. Best of both worlds. Plus the charging handle is like a Mini 14 like my duty arm. You fight as you train.
This is by far your best video yet. I almost stop watching your video at one point when I felt like there wasn't anything different but this video you have great information about the build of the rifle and the magazines. Loved the go pro and explosives as well. You did a great mix through all of this video! Keep it up!!
+MyMMC The 556 Patrol, and all the other Sig Sauer-branded 55x rifles (with the exception of the SAN-made, SIG-imported 553 pistol), are American made. It is mostly a Swiss design, at least, and once Sig worked out the kinks they were good rifles. Shame they dropped them in favor of the MCX and the XI.
Sig Sauer USA of Exeter, NH is a subsidiary of the German-owned company of the same name, which in turn is owned by SAN. You'll never see an XI, or a 551a1, or a 556r, or any of those variants actually in Switzerland. They were 'designed' here using the stgw90 rifle as a base platform. They're close, and good rifles at that, but they're neither Swiss-made nor built with Swiss oversight.
I just picked a 556R up this week. It shoots the 7.62x39 so it's even more like an AK. In fact, I was going to get an AK, but when I saw this I just didn't need an AK anymore. Sweet gun.
Nice review, I got one last year. I returned to Sig due the following problems: American Eagle 223 would brass would eject with a dent in the middle of cartridge and I would get dings on left side of the ejection port from rounds hitting it. Sig didn't address dings but said they are a non reload company. If I knew this, I would have thought twice about buying this rifle. Now I want to sell it.
11 years and well over 11 million subscribers later and still shooting better with iron sights than some twerp who happened to be wearing your merch (thankfully!)
You may want to try one of the MFI folding front sights. They will match up to the folding lollipop sight that's underneath the diopter sight. It allows the option of mounting your optics much lower and not having that front sight in the way.
Thank you guys for actually mentioning some statistics about the weapon. FPSRussia can't be relied on for that any more, in my opinion, and when he can, it's either that he's mentioning the ROF or the barrel he's got in it.
45/49 on queue list of oldest vids.. 11 years ago video. such a spring chicken. but you're doing well. I don't know the sub count then, but 11.5m now... you did something right. I will continue my journey through the history, and the recent.
That is my favorite modern piston rifle. I am skeptical about being as accurate as a DI AR. Probably close, but the in line bolt and heavy profile barrels that come standard on a lot of them are probably going to make it the more accurate platform.
I used to have this rifle, had issues with it and sold it but regret it. Front sight broke as well. I was kinda new to rifles and did not know enough to just send it back to Sig under warranty.
Took mine out Saturday along with my Smith & Wesson M&P 15. Rapid fired the snot out them. Both performed great. Do a RUclips search for Sig 556 Rapid Fire. My shoulder is sore today.
I have a Swat Patrol with the collapsible stock cerakoted in burnt bronze and black two tone. Its a great rifle except for my minor concern about the pencil barrel.
btw the reason that you can have a folding stock is not because its a piston system its because the spring is on top of the receiver rather than in a buffer tube, all my ar15s are piston driven and still have buffer tubes
Matt, this video, you just said " thanks to all my subscribers, I just hit 30,000. 30k, Matt, my gawd how this channel has grown. 7.4 million now. Freaking amazing man. I haven't been here since the start but a couple years now. I just wanted to go back and see your old stuff. Dang, you look like a kid. Lol keep up the awesome work and thank you for everything you do!!!
@@richardblock4532 I mixed them up with Swiss Arms' SG line. My mistake. Nevertheless, Germanic firearms (Austria, Germany, Switzerland) are all finely built.
I don't know about you, but I found that the hinge knuckle interfered with operating the safety lever when using the rifle left handed. Manticore Arms offers extended safety levers that help a great deal in that regard, as well as making it easier to reach the safety lever on the left side of the rifle. The drawback is that, while the stock will fold, it will not latch in the folded position.
When you mix fuel, metal oxide, and metal powder in just the right way, it burns at 2000 degrees Celsius. Hot enough to cut through nearly any barrier known to man. Throw some C4 into the mix, and you've got one hell of a combination.
At the time of leaving this comment you have over 8 million subscribers and I'm glad that I saw this video the day that it came out I may not have been subscribed to you on this account but I was on my last one which got hacked
I adjusted mine a bit. Hogue grip, Gunsmith MIG welded a troy ambi mag release, on to the stock mag release, it is flawless. I love her but the ISOSCELES style shooting will crack your right forearm though. But the ejection angle is exactly 2-3 position and far out there, pisses off the range people and brass stealers.
Very good video's. However I must point out that piston driven vs DI has nothing to do with a rifle using a buffer tube or not. This is related to how the bolt and action are built, not the gas system used.
No sbr means that it has short barrel hence the term short barreled rifle. To qualify for such a firearm has to have a shoulder stock and a barrel shorter than 16 inches.
Just watched this video here in 2019. You said that you just hit 30k subscribers. That must be mind blowing to think that just 6 years later you are at 7 million. 30,000 vs 7,000,000. Think about that
Ahhh, my yearly dive into the demo archives. Always a joy😂🙏
Yeah I didn't even realize that until I watched the go pro footage.
Demo! Just watching your vintage videos and I love em all. You've come a long way my friend! The demolition salutes you sir!
I gotta know if you still have one of these variants in the ol' collection these days.

Matt: this is brand new never been fired
Also Matt: I fired ten rounds in it to get the sights on

Well made review. No BS, short, sweet and to the point! Thanks again! Hooah!
That slow motion in cooperation with the mounted GoPro is sweet as hell
Seen this video 1,000 times and still kicks ass
I have the Sig P556. Greatest SBR I have. DDLES folding adapter with Sig SBX brace. Fantastic! Right up their with my 12 Ga for home defense.
I like watching the gun working close, and you're good at it. Nice videos, man.
Thanks!
The go pro view is sick and when you slow it down you can even see the casings flying
of course you never had a problem.. it's from switzerland...

Nicholas Phillips its not mostly a swiss design... its a swiss company, with a swiss rifle, that ALSO produces in the US.

Your right ;)
Nicholas Phillips what do you mean? Of course its swiss design
If we can wait that long, your videos are awesome man! Keep it up!
Great review, glad to see someone one reviewing it. I love mine.
I was issued a SIG 552 Commando for a while at work. I really miss that little rifle.
I love the ejection angle! looks like 2:00 - 3:00. Good for ambidextrous shooting.
I just picked a 556R up this week. It shoots the 7.62x39 so it's even more like an AK. In fact, I was going to get an AK, but when I saw this I just didn't need an AK anymore. Sweet gun.
Hope you got something cool to replace it OTG.
This was the first video I watched on this channel because I wanted to buy one.. I bought a gen 2 516. I love mine.
Nice rifle and great shooting. I cannot afford something like that, but would love to own one! Well done. Thanks for sharing.

I just got a 556R today! Look for a video sometime in the next month.
I own one and love this rifle. I changed the front sight to a front flip down sight. I also have a eotech.
That is a sweet shooting rifle. I'm going to have to pick one up at the gun show here in a couple weeks.
If any of you guys get this you're a badass
"Thermite gun"

Great review, and I'll confirm that yes, a Beta C mag does fit as well.
I hate to say it, but kind of. I'm in love with the side folding stock.
You may want to try one of the MFI folding front sights. They will match up to the folding lollipop sight that's underneath the diopter sight. It allows the option of mounting your optics much lower and not having that front sight in the way.
That has to be the nicest gun I think you previewed besides of course the beret! 😁

0:23 "Unfired"
0:25 "I put 10 rounds through it"
Which means, when he bought it, it was unfired 😁
@@gencrexhaj7866 right 👍

nice. like the go pro mount view on side of the barrel - make a good view of barrel where your shooting at.
A 1/2in picatinny riser would fix the prob with your Eotech sight
I've had mine for a few years, love it! Works great with Aimpoint!
I used to have this rifle, had issues with it and sold it but regret it. Front sight broke as well. I was kinda new to rifles and did not know enough to just send it back to Sig under warranty.
Now this is a really really cool rifle! and good shootin! Great vid.
Little did you realise how much your life would change 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
If those were originally filled with Red Diamond Sweet Tea... You have effectively replicated my backyard. Great vid man!
I miss this simple matt

Very cool! Looks like it really launches the brass. :D

Funny seeing Matt happy about hitting 30k subscribers knowing that he'll be at 10 million in the blink of an eye:)

THE AR15 AND THE AK47 HAD A BABY!!
In the states can you actually get bullets at Walmart
Yeah, why?
+Dayson Moxness I live in Canada, I've never even seen a real gun or ammo in real life wtf
You can get ammo in 90% of Canadian Tires up here. Some sell Firearms too. Walmart also carries ammo in common hunting calibres.
Kyle Gordon and
I live in germany and this is insane to me. Beeing able to buy ammo for your gun at a supermarket in front of kids like its a casual thing.
That's a smooth gun Matt

It's weird looking back at the old Matt lol I've been watching him since middle school now I'm almost old enough to start my own collection
Reminds me of a mix between an ACR and a SCAR

30, 000....? You've got 1.6 MILLION!!! eeeeeeekk!!! Let's party!!!
Kept wondering what I was seeing during the slowmo , casings getting launched!!
Best idea ever. This will happen in a future video haha!!!
“I remember when I was at 2000”. Matt, I remember when you were only at 250 lol. You shot 250 .22, one for each subscriber out of the p22.
totally awesome I love it and sig 552 as well
Go sig! Just got done cleaning my 556
That gopro really gets the ring

sigs are one of my favs:)
Great video keep up the good work man
you could put a small scope riser and mount the eotech on that and that should get your dot above the front sight
Excellent review!
Great video dude, keep them coming!

Looking forward to the next video.
You can always pull the sights off and put on Troy battle sights.
