Oh MY! So I just recently saw a RUclips video where a tornado passed through a place in the US, and the guy was inside a convenience store recording as the wind ripped the overhang out of the ground and blew it away. Most insane video I've seen captured during a real-life tornado in a number of years.
That happened here north Tx close to Denton if I remember right

The way the roof is twisted in two different directions tells me that it was likely a weak EF-0 to EF-1 tornado that struck it. Straight line winds(microburst) lays everything in one direction.
Looks like the car was pulling out when the canopy came down. Wonder why they haven't gotten it out from under there.

I went through a storm like that in Traverse City Michigan 2015. Caused extensive damage but referred to as " Straight Line Winds " not a tornado. The " winds " were over 100 MPH. Intense experience.

My one concern for this one not being entirely abandoned is that vandals and theives could see this video as an invitation to come do damage.

You can actually see the letters super clearly on the top down view of Google Maps. Looks like there's more Texaco letters on the other awning too. Makes me wonder how many other gas stations have done this when changing brands.
Could that have been a former Exxon? Well... then again, yeah, there is that C on the roof. I don't know.

I’m from Rock Hill. That storm came up quick on the south side of town and damaged a lot of houses and cars. People’s siding and windows were damaged.
It was a reallt bad hail storm, I’m about half an hour south and I remember when that happened. It’s so crazy because just two days ago, the same thing happened in Fort Lawn SC, about 30 mins from there. The awning got all twisted and a car got stuck underneath it.

I'm surprised that gas station doesn't have more metal beans holding up the gas island canopy. Crazy what that storm did.
The metal beans hadn’t sprouted enough beanstalks to support the awning roof lol 😝 🫘 👍
I believe that the canopy was an older construction. A long canopy like this one now has more poles to support it. Sometimes the poles have been helped by having bricks surrounding them. A similar incident happened in Michigan just a few weeks ago.

Looking at it from above on Google maps, I'd have to agree. Both ends where the logo is, the old red letters were tossed above. From street view, it's been Citgo since 2012 so those letters have been there a LONG time!
Yea.. good find on Wally’s part- definitely an old Texaco - the letters are the copyright ©️ font.
This looks like it was an old 1980's AMOCO oil Food Mart.

Crazy- must been insurance clause bought the Honda owner a brand new car- I mean wow that is a very new accord or something and it’s a shame.. I bet some creeps have stripped the interior.

Hopefully, they will e able to repair the damage from the storm. In my old neighborhood that I grew up in, I witnessed a canopy at gas station swaying in very high winds and eventually the canopy completely fell over. Luckily, no one was injured.

That looks repairable to me. Insurance companies like to drag their feet on claims. The car is probably repairable also but they will probably total it.
From what I can see with the damage I'll say it was Straight Line Winds... Straight-line winds are often confused with tornadoes because of the severity and damage they can cause. They both make loud, roaring sounds and both can have winds exceeding 150 miles per hour.
The wind was able to get under the awning And do that to the damage of the metal roof the other thing is that the insurance is taking their time to pay for the repair job and the car

@@MattDaugherty-jd7my used to be a citgo in our town and now it is gone. Had the same exact original awning. Used to sell nothing but their products with the triangle on it now it’s something else I believe not quite sure what brand of gas it is now
