I love that I can watch and listen to him and there's no temper tantrums or bad language. He works through problems and repairs with patience. Know too many guys that are hot heads with volcanic tempers and hair triggers. It's relaxing to watch Andrew work it through, step by step. Patience, calm. No yelling or screaming. If extra steps or parts or tools are needed, that's ok. If a new problem is found, that's ok. He just accepts it and works through it. More ppl need that attitude. It ain't easy, y'all. Nuttin' s easy usually. But your attitude and how u react to it is everything.
I'm gonna call him " No drama Andy.". He just works through it. We have drama queen men who throw tantrums like spoiled 2 year olds. I'm not kidding. Screaming, livid, volcano heads. Bipolar, etc. Not fun.
Love your videos! A little trick from an old time mechanic, before you disconnect a brake line put a block of wood and a stick pushing on your brake pedal, so that it goes down at least half way, that closes off the ports in your master cylinder so that you won’t drip brake fluid when the lines are disconnected. The block of wood goes on the front lower area of your drivers seat and of course the pole goes between the block and the pedal, if having the brake pedal half way don’t stop the flow the depress it further. It works like a charm and keeps clean up to a minimum and of course it keeps from having to bleed the master cylinder if it goes dry on you. And thanks for sharing your world with us, and please thank Levi too:)
Ya just know other youtubers are scratching their heads trying to figure out your recipe on how ya keep us watchin the whole video. Lol. Well for me I like to learn an honesty goes a super long way with me. Great video. Thx
Like you mention with honestly, it goes a long way. That, and not taking more then half the video to get to the point of the video, on top of not clickbaiting.
Andrew is the textbook definition of “hustle.” He’ll never be hungry. He’ll always have a warm home for his family in the winter. He’s NOT afraid of WORK. His brain is always whirring at warp speed. He’s a great guy to know. Every time you pull out his business card, expect to pull out $40, $60, $100, or $200 with it. But- he’ll take care of you every time. A “Jack of All Trades.”
I like the way he stacks up his maintenance jobs (for the videos or for his own efficiency) so we can see him peel through everything he wants to fix on a given vehicle start to finish.
The measure of a good vid... Watched all the way through at normal speed, only rewind a few times because I missed what was said or done. Andrews content is hands down better than other You tubers imo. 👍🇺🇸
Yeah, it comes downs to the viewer engagement, I bet here most people watched the whole thing to follow along. So interesting for me who doesn’t even like old banger vehicles haha

He'll replace them when the aftermarket ones get broken, which shouldn't take too long. The problems were with the OE wiring and not the lights themselves anyway.
he did specify being concerned about aftermarket parts only in the engine, if I'm not mistaken? funny comment though. l did think something along those lines when l saw those tail lights.
When the title for this video said (new truck) I was shocked ! I didn’t think Andrew would buy a NEW truck, just new to him ! Nice work fixing your new truck Andrew. You can fix most anything with a big enough hammer !
"Pre-dented" is a load off my mind too... Horror movies have never yet captured the anguish of the first dropped socket bouncing across pristine paintwork
That last sentence almost made me cry man. My dad bought a brand new black truck years ago and within 8 months there was a giant 4 foot scratch and white paint overspray from some job site he was working at. Work trucks command respect for the abuse they put up with constantly.
I have always owned used vehicles. Last month I finally got my first brand new, right off the dealer lot. My first new car in my 51 years on the planet. I got on the interstate and the flatbed truck in front of me has a binder break off and it landed on my hood going 60 mph. After denting and scraping the paint off the hood, which hadn't fully cured yet, it hit my windshield and spiderwebed it from side to side, top to bottom. I almost vomited on the brand new carpet. I just did a u-turn, went right back to the dealership to get it fixed. Guess what they gave me for a loner? Yep, my old car. When I got home I thought "WTF just happened?"
My husband waited until our kids had moved out of our house to buy. himself a new truck. long story short our neighbors son ran the truck parked in our yard and left . lucky we have cameras and his insurance company paid for the repairs. He held on to his old one until the new one got hit. now his$50k new is not new anymore.
@@susanvonderhaar2004 its maddening first of all that these cost as much as some homes. But second is no one else cares about your property. The lack of respect is rage inducing sometimes.

Drain the fuel tank man. Blow out all the lines. I’d nearly bet that the hole in the bed is letting water sit on top of the fuel tank and it’s making its way into the tank through a weak seal. That rust is proberly drawing from the tank

It hurts a lil' bit seeing Levi get old. Been through that with my own dogs, not easy. But, being given the opportunity to become old is as much as a good dog can ask for, and that's what matters.
I have two dogs, father and son. Oldest one will be 14 in three months, he's getting bald, partially blind and kind of deaf.... But he's still the joy of the household, and he knows it.
We just had to put our girl down because she was constantly in pain from her hind legs. Don't enjoy coming home from work so much anymore. Miss you girl.
@@yonnj The last dog I put down was a Doberman, Salsa, she was the sweetest, meekest doberman you'd ever meet. Her hind legs slowly gave out on her too, for a long time she couldn't stand up on her own, and it got to the point that she couldn't walk on her own either. It was particularly difficult because she was still aware and alert, her legs not working wasn't alone going to kill her, but it's still no way for a dog to live.
Thank you. Its probably fun to find it now because I have been working on this for years. Lots of videos to watch at this point. The next video (rendering now) is on this pickup truck.

Hola Andrew, I've only just now (10/2019) found you and subscribed immediately. Why? You've got my Granddad's name and work ethic (Andrew Robinson Smith Jr, a Tugboat Captain (and decendent of same, x2) in Gloucester, Mass) You offer a no BS channel (like your namesake, who was a direct descendant of John Smith/Virginia Colony). No odd, hinky, cutsy, music (no explanation needed there). I Like your fast forward that shows the initial work, then helps us of the instant gratification attitude, to get through all the hard work and see the result(s). A Professional, smart, knowledgeable and/or make it work as needed attitude. True Old School (what appears to be New England) education, ethics and virtues. OH, so many great tools, sheds/shops and work vehicles. (Jealousy showing!!!!) A Get It done attitude. Nothing better than that in this sissified snowflake world. No Fkn whining!!!!!!!!!! Ditto You like Mopars! ;-) You love "Real" dogs (not enlarged canine rats), as I do (hey, I've been called an enlarged canine rat, so I know of what I speak!). And, finally, some great filming, drone footage and editing skills (do your talents ever stop!!!!!) Keep up the great work. Hey, I love work. I can sit and watch it all day!!! ;-0 cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, Ca
Andrew - fill the oil filter with new oil before installing. “Death wobble” usually associated with track bar bushings - check them . Preventing expensive injection pump failures - Need a finer fuel filter ( the cat filter setup is easy and cheapest). And Fleece performance in tank fuel pump will eliminate any weakness that may cause injection pump/ motor failures. Best
I think the reason you make everyday guy stuff so interesting is that you do what needs to be done, AND you usually do it RIGHT. And you have the RIGHT tools, or you make them when needed. Plus, you're a guy I can say without any doubts or reservations would be a great friend and neighbor to have. And as someone else mention, Levi gets a bit slower each passing video. What a great dog!
My favorite line : "It Just needs a new engine" After watching many Andrew videos, I'm sure that's something he'll do after dinner one night on a whim.
lab cabbage it’s not that hard, especially it’s gonna come from a parts truck. I’ve put two in two different dodge 1500 trucks I’ve owned. One of them was a newly rebuilt motor that needed all the exterior components installed from the old motor, that takes a bit more effort but still pretty easy

Dodge ram diesel owner here. Always turn the petcock on the bottom of the filter housing. It will drain the fuel and water out and you'll be able to clean the sludge from the bottom of the bowl. After draining and cleaning, reset the peacock. Next, put the cap with new o ring on the lid and replace the filter and cap. Lastly, cycle the key seven to ten times. The lift pump will fill the fuel bowl and the truck should kick right over. Great vids man. Thank you for the content.

Andrew: This thing needs a parking brake, that’s annoying
I’m dead 😂😂😂😂
For a second, I thought, that's going down the hill! 🤤
Andrew is as cool as the other side of the pillow. Unbelievable.
Love how he very calmly stated that...
I busted out laughing at how calm Andrew was while same time thinking it was about to really take off.
you win! paused it and searched for the first person to state this.
Not fun.
32:56 "alright let's continue fixing this truck" next sentence "Ok let's go enter a pulling competition at the fair."
Andrew is the textbook definition of “hustle.”
He’ll never be hungry. He’ll always have a warm home for his family in the winter.
He’s NOT afraid of WORK.
His brain is always whirring
at warp speed.
He’s a great guy to know.
Every time you pull out his business card, expect to pull out $40, $60, $100, or $200
with it. But- he’ll take care of
you every time.
@Laj51 ~ Hardly none, as no one wants to take a chance on a snooze fest...but the one complaint from Andrews fans, are his vids aren’t long enough.
Yeah, it comes downs to the viewer engagement, I bet here most people watched the whole thing to follow along. So interesting for me who doesn’t even like old banger vehicles haha

@morning glory Uhh okay Pal. You might want to watch more of this kids content. Trust me, he may be in his late twenties, but this guy has done more in the past year than most people do in a lifetime...and its all well documented. For example, building his own house/castle all by himself. My guess is that your truck stays spotless and you wash it every weekend. "I like that this one hasn't been ruined with aftermarket parts"
proceeds to struggle with aftermarket taillights
Some will pick apart everything others do
He'll replace them when the aftermarket ones get broken, which shouldn't take too long. The problems were with the OE wiring and not the lights themselves anyway.
he did specify being concerned about aftermarket parts only in the engine, if I'm not mistaken? funny comment though. l did think something along those lines when l saw those tail lights.

Levi seems to like the truck and likes to snooze off. Levi, his person, and the truck makes a good combo.
I love how well Livi handles the drone at the end of the video. Unless it's Andrew controlling the drone while Livi drives.
If it can be fixed with a torch and a rattle can of paint, this guy is your man. Kind of amazing, really.
When the title for this video said (new truck) I was shocked ! I didn’t think Andrew would buy a NEW truck, just new to him ! Nice work fixing your new truck Andrew. You can fix most anything with a big enough hammer !
I nearly had a heart attack with excitement when I saw this notification pop up. Been waiting on this vid a long time. Thank you AC!
@@valuedhumanoid6574 that's just unfortunate, the universe hated you that day. Did the dealer at least fix it at a discount or for free?
My husband waited until our kids had moved out of our house to buy. himself a new truck. long story short our neighbors son ran the truck parked in our yard and left . lucky we have cameras and his insurance company paid for the repairs. He held on to his old one until the new one got hit. now his$50k new is not new anymore.

Drain the fuel tank man. Blow out all the lines. I’d nearly bet that the hole in the bed is letting water sit on top of the fuel tank and it’s making its way into the tank through a weak seal.
That rust is proberly drawing from the tank
Finally some one with common sense 👍
the filter should not rust in diesel oil its obviously the water in the tank pumping through causing it to rust
Yeah, I have never seen such a bad filter.
Not even in my Subaru pickup that had a 2x10" hole on the top of the tank.

the dude is literally crapping comedy gold
A quiet studied humour that also returns a valuable insight - and the best kind I think.
It hurts a lil' bit seeing Levi get old.
Been through that with my own dogs, not easy. But, being given the opportunity to become old is as much as a good dog can ask for, and that's what matters.
Yes it is. 😯😯
Made me recall all the times I had to help my buddies when they were older to get into trucks or cars...sigh.
Just found this channel. Are you kidding me? I learned more in 2 videos than I have in 10 years! You sir, are awesome!

I was really sad to hear that too. I lost my golden around the same time and then saw his video about Levi. Dogs are so special.
Hola Andrew,
I've only just now (10/2019) found you and subscribed immediately.
Why?
You've got my Granddad's name and work ethic (Andrew Robinson Smith Jr, a Tugboat Captain (and decendent of same, x2) in Gloucester, Mass)
You offer a no BS channel (like your namesake, who was a direct descendant of John Smith/Virginia Colony).
(Jealousy showing!!!!)
A Get It done attitude. Nothing better than that in this sissified snowflake world.
No Fkn whining!!!!!!!!!! Ditto
You like Mopars! ;-)
You love "Real" dogs (not enlarged canine rats), as I do (hey, I've been called an enlarged canine rat, so I know of what I speak!).
And, finally, some great filming, drone footage and editing skills (do your talents ever stop!!!!!)
Keep up the great work.
Hey, I love work. I can sit and watch it all day!!! ;-0
cheers

New England is on the other side of the Hudson from where Andrew rolls.
I watched the whole thing and loved every minute. Best supporting actor award to Levi!
Your attention to detail and focus on quality are truly impressive.
I love the park brake mod, simple but effective. Just the way A C likes it. 👌

My favorite line :
"It Just needs a new engine"
After watching many Andrew videos, I'm sure that's something he'll do after dinner one night on a whim.
lab cabbage it’s not that hard, especially it’s gonna come from a parts truck.
