Colin Morgan and Bradley James on the road through Wales investigating the legend of Merlin and Arthur. Part 1: • The Real Merlin and Ar... Part 2: • The Real Merlin and Ar...
remember back to the very end of Merlin, when you see merlin walking around present day. The old guy, 3 minutes in, that's Merlin! That's him! He knows where Arthur died because he was THERE!
When I was pregnant with my first child, I was reading "The fogs of Avalon" from Marion Zimmer-Bradley (ah, Bradley again), and than I read every book about the Legend of King Arthur I could get.(15 or so, we're in Germany)... my son was born, and it took me 3 weeks to be sure (and convince his dad) that he should be named ...Merlin! "Our" Merlin is 8 years old now, big soccer fan, he likes his name very much, and is big fan of "merlin"-series, his favorite is: Arthur (Bradley... no wonder ;-))
This is frigging hilarious. I love it. They get to the library late because of slow a$$ cars then they get to the church where Arthur died but it's dark so we can't see a thing but a strange man with witching rods. lol Gotta hand it to Bradley James for attempting to sound interested, he made it worth watching.
Considering the legend states that King Arthur is the Once and Future King, and he is destined to rise again, we will find out if the Once and Future King is man or myth sooner or later.
Rather feeble on facts, but interesting to see the two actors as their real selves. The way in which Colin Morgan can maintain his perfectly natural-sounding 'English' accent during the 5-year series always strikes me as remarkable. I wonder how difficult it is for him to suppress his Irish accent?
***** The impressive thing about the 'Merlin' accent is that it is so natural - not too perfect, just unremarkable - which is why it *is* so remarkable.
So true. I think Bradley truly respected and very much liked Colin Morgan. I also think he was, and is very uncomfortable admitting that. More than likely because of all the buzz about them being a 'couple' that started out of it. But this show is absolutely wonderful. It showed the ease of their friendship, and the fun they had together for this trip. I kept wishing it was longer. It ended way too soon.
what was said about the legend of King Arthur inspiring people in Whales, I am from the United States and have been in love with all the stories, pictures and such since i was very small and exhausted my school library on the topic. I think that, while i may not live with it, the legend is very present in many parts of the world.
Can't believe two young lads went in the woods in the dark with a dodgy old man in shorts, hope they took sweets and ran. Also I thought the rods they used are for finding water, and up there I would of thought there's loads on top of were they were.
Thank you so much for uploading this..I LOVE the show "The Adventures of Merlin" and it's so interesting to see Colin and Bradley taking this road trip:)
ah this is so fascinating :D I studied Arthurian legends a little while ago, gaaah how I want to visit that library..!! and yes, as you all say, chances are that that old, bearded man is Merlin himself.
I couldnt have been the only one that thought the old guy was merlin come on and if the legend is true that arthur is the once and future king that means he will rise again when we need him most...
Looked like they found Merlin’s cousin!! Here in the USA 🇺🇸 when we use the metal rods and they cross over one another~ then you know your standing above or near water. Science or magic idk~ however I do know, it works !! Watching this made me love the show Merlin even more. knowing now just how much the actors love the story, and went looking for something to prove king Arthur lived. I’ve always strongly felt there has to be truth mixed in the stories. I just watched all 5 seasons of Merlin ~ Netflix.
Lol,lol, lol!!! This interesting guy, would make a PERFECT MERLIN, in His Autumn years!! He's INTERESTING, SEEMS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, UNIQUE ( good kind ), COMICAL & CUTE!!; ) Too bad he's not an actor; There's something almost MAGICAL about him; He would make The BEST AG'ED Merlin, other wizard or magical character, Santa Clause, or a very wise, Yet~Humble Professor!
soooo....what could they have been up to that constantly made them late? *nudge-nudge* (This is what happens when you spend the day listening to podfics)
There was a kind of giant that Arthur fought who was the Queen 's champion in Series 4 episode 5 in front of the army of Queen Annis of Caerleon (whose husband Arthur had killed on his uncle Agravaine' s instructions.)
@@Ponakalaranjit456So was Goliath in the story of David and Goliath and he is often called a giant. Some giants are sometimes just very tall people but I see what you mean.
I think it's pretty funny that ever since I saw the Disney movie (The Sword in the stone) I always thought that Merlin and Arthur had definitely been real people... Until I started studying history in High School. It's sad that there's no real evidence that they existed. :/
I went to the place where the battle of Camlann was in Cornwall, not Wales! It is the place where the river Camel and the river Alan meet, thus Camelalan or Camlann. I am so confused there is an ancient stone to mark the place too! They should definitely do another program in Cornwall!
04:45-04:48 - Notice how Bradley turned his head quickly and back again, is that his cover up for either secreting Colin or is that just normal, I can never tell, but no matter.
So in wales, is this the mainland closest to bardsey island where Arthur is said to be buried? (I'm referring to the part where they were doing the dowsing) I know Glastonbury in England is said to be Avalon also but this is the Welsh take on it of course.
@mydreamstate1 I understand Exactly what you're talking about. I'm from America as well and I've grown up with the Legends of Arther and Merlin and EVEN Morrigan La Fey since I was maybe 6.
If this little documentary was a way of promoting their TV/Streaming series, it didn't work for me. If, on the other hand, it was an honest attempt to establish if there is evidence that proves there was a King Arthur and a magic practitioner called Merlin, then the chap with the books pretty much answered that question comprehensively. No. I had to wonder, then, why all the driving around Wales, and looking at sheep. I, too, was glad they met a couple of people who were passionate about the subject because young Mr Bradley couldn't have looked less interested if he tried. Young Mr Morgan, while beginning a little enthusiastically, seemed to be also wondering why they were there in the first place. It's not the young actors' fault. This feeble little documentary is all down to a producer(s) who didn't take the subject seriously enough and, obviously, didn't put enough money into the production. Like we didn't need to see the 'boys' having breakfast in their hotel or packing two bags into a little car. It was structured and handled badly which is a pity because, in the right hands and with a good script writer this could have been a truly outstanding and highly enjoyable, perhaps even educational, film. It's a good thing that, apparently, so few people have seen this doco because it didn't help the series at all. Besides, in about a year and a bit after this was done, the series was finished, never to be rekindled. Both actors should be truly proud of their series because it was excellent. This film, therefore, isn't important at all; which is quite right. Cheers, BH
Honestly i cant even disagree with this comment because Bradley with the old guy he looked so uninterested and it was so awkward but i love them both and i actually did enjoy seeing them out of the show.
The guy with the beard is the actual Merlin in disguise!
Was just thinking the same thing
The beard! Omg FSU T-shirt?
Ferry van Herk THATS WHAT IM SAYIN
He was there
i came to write this

My thoughts exactly!

I'm soooo late, but that's so freaking cute! >.
I'm 8 years late but just wanted to say that I loved 'The fogs of Avalon'. Those books got me into reading about Arthur
omg! id love to do that one day
OMG it's Emrys....

The way Bradley was like which we cant see because its dark because we turned up late but luckily we have you here to explain to us 😂😂😂
yess😂
You know for all we know the man in 2:36 may have acutely have been merlin........
Well he most probably is!
exactly what I thought !
that is exactly what i thought as well!!!!!
OH MY GOD MERLIN OH MY MERLIN YOUR ALIVE WOW MERLIN AND YOU STILL HAVE YOUR RED CLOAK OMG MERLIN WOOO! HES REAL AND ALIVE YAY!
Now Weres Arthur?
+The Dedicated Universal Society Empire. If he's alive, he's still waiting according to legend; he's waiting for Arthur :(
Considering the legend states that King Arthur is the Once and Future King, and he is destined to rise again, we will find out if the Once and Future King is man or myth sooner or later.
I love how cheeky Colin looked when he explained how their show was part of telling the King Arthur/Merlin story
Rather feeble on facts, but interesting to see the two actors as their real selves.

Bradley looked uncomfortable with the spirit channeling guy lol
That was quiet funny to see :) he reminded me of Mark from peep show so much during this part!
I think I would be uncomfortable too😂
The old man looks exactly like Merlin when he takes the ageing potion!!!!:p
So... why were they always late?
I know! Always taking the scenic route it seems.
Interesting that they found where Arthur fell by "crossing rods"
Fun documentary with a laid-back, natural dialogue and flow and a nice way to get to know the actors better. Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bradley "... And been doing strange things in the dark" WHAT DID YOU SAY BRADLEY?
Bradley, stop looking at Colin like he was some slice of fluffy chocolate cake!
Isn't he though
So true.
I think Bradley truly respected and very much liked Colin Morgan. I also think he was, and is very uncomfortable admitting that.

I love the way bradley says, "And we've also been doing strange things in the dark."
THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER!!!! Such great chemistry!
this dude IS Merlin...look at his name! Laurence Main...spells out Merlin?? *reincarnation hi-five!*

OMG OMG OMG Laurence Main...is an actual anagram of Merlin! well Merlin Auenca ...but he has the letters for Merlin in his name!!!
The old guy is Merlin!!!!
“When your rods cross...” starts giggling like a hyena ‘cause I’m an adult 😂
its a bit more debatable where Arthur's last battle actually happened but using dowsing rods is a useful technique
ha ha Colin and Bradley look so scared of that crazy man XD
More so Bradley 😁
I don't know how they kept a straight face.
0:08 how many coats do you need Colin?! My goodness!
He is thin...probably gets cold.
bradley is sooooo unenthusiastic! its hilarious!!!!
Well yeah i was disappointed about that
He is probly very tired from all the driving
I think he was probably just exhausted from driving around all day.
@@RitwikaDatta yeah, I mean he did ALL the driving. It's tiring.

Thanks for posting these! I saw the preview elsewhere on RUclips and thought I'd never get to see it.
Pahahahhahaha, I bet the production team was like "o.O fuhhhhhhhhhhh. THEY'RE TOO LATE FOR EVERYTHING."

I love that someone else got this specific vibe from him! Agree with every word, very apt description.
The old man, so cute! I love the water divining; the lines are crossing because there is an underground water source.
soooo....what could they have been up to that constantly made them late? *nudge-nudge*
(This is what happens when you spend the day listening to podfics)
I know it's been several years, but would you be kind enough to share some of them? :D
yes! please tell us which ones they are,
Gross. This are real people
Great guys, although it seems obvious they were pushed into doing this, Bradley gave it away a bit more
8:04 I wanna know why Bradley was laughing so hard! :D
colin is always one step after bradley, hahah.
Am I the only one who thought the old man looked like Dragoon the Great?
why were there no giants in BBC Merlin?
probably less shock/plot value, although it would've made for an interesting episode imo...
The Great Dragon took up the special effects department probably
There was a kind of giant that Arthur fought who was the Queen 's champion in Series 4 episode 5 in front of the army of Queen Annis of Caerleon (whose husband Arthur had killed on his uncle Agravaine' s instructions.)

I really hope they make the trilogy they've been talking about.
That old man is literally the real Merlin :')
That old guy was merlin with an aging spell

I believe that song is 'One Day Like This' by 'Elbow' xx

I love his Florida State shirt, a nod to a part of his upbringing in Florida
Miss you both
I might have turned up late just as them 😂 but im glad im not alone about the bearded man being Emrys
2:21 this old man is smart and strange ... maybe he is Merlin? I'm shure he is,there is something in hes eyes that told me he is :O hah
Thanks for posting all of these! :)
How I love the comments everyone agreeing with the old man is Merlin
omg im sooooooooooo late but stll this two man are my world
When this whole thing was just an advertisement for there audio books
"we`ve also been doing strange things in the dark" okay.

They're not too great at keeping time!
I so love this show. I wonder why Mary Magdalene, who brought the chalice, was never mentioned ? Funny how the older Merlin looked lime the Hermit ?
@mydreamstate1 I understand Exactly what you're talking about. I'm from America as well and I've grown up with the Legends of Arther and Merlin and EVEN Morrigan La Fey since I was maybe 6.
Best part is how they were repeatedly late and screwing off and up just like their characters in Merlin.
Ah, love how Bradley's wearing an FSU shirt. :P Strange!
The old man is pointing the stick like he was going to kill him
What a lovely pair of guys :)
Guys please watch this with captions on, they are too funny!
I watched the 1998 version of Merlin with my sister and her boyfriend when my parents were camping
Arthur was a Roman official in the 6th century who briefly unified the Celtic tribes; Merlin is a title, not a name.
OMG!!!!!! That has to be Merlin present day that old guy!!
There's probably an underground spring that they're witching.
Why can't we have awesome old guys that that guy in America? Do share, Europe.
Can't wait to see season five
Definitely more entertaining than anything else (especially not scientific 😅) but it was real fun watching the two guys on this tour
I enjoyed this information. Thx
thanks for this information!
That might be emerys
Has the book le Morte Arthur.
thank you so much this video!!
things aren't always as they appear to be
lol Colin was crickets during the dowsing thing lol
i bet that giant would have loved to collect his beard XD
Because they left Christianity out of the show. Besides, it was Joseph of Arithemia who brought the Holy Grail to Great Britain. Not Mary Magdalene.

@Beckerclan but they don't have awesome accents like this guy!

He is from northern Ireland x
I hear ley lines and suddenly just *schreee* SOMEONE CALL GANSEY AND BLUE OMG!!
Hana Pipan OMG SAME I am so glad I found this comment 😂😂
Caerleon is my identification of Camelot

Was that man the inspiration for older-Merlin?
As a non native english speaker, this accent is VERY hard to follow...
