- Hey guys, I had a chance to ride Kawasaki KX250 for a first time in my life, this oldchsool 2 stroke dirt bike is 2006 KX 250 that is completely stock except for the pipe. I was very curious to see how it handles the track I usually ride on much never bikes. Check it out and let me know your thoughts, cheers!

Yes to getting an older 2 stroke 250 and building it up some for MX....I like the Honda.
Iva had an 05 with the same mods for a couple months, she is for sure an old beast
I bought a 05 kx 250 2T brand new and within months of ownership, top to bottom and front to back everything was pro - circuit. Suspension, engine exhaust, graphics. It was fast. I miss that bike. I used to race hair scrambles and MX with it. Occasionally some FMX.

The old Kawasaki kx 250 rips, I always loved Honda, Kawasaki and Ktms they were all awesome.
Man now that brought back some memories! I rode kx 250's from 1989 through 2005. Had a great dealer here in my home town. The older ones around 95 had killer motors.

This video almost brings tears to my eyes... I miss my 07 kx250. The bike i should of never sold. I now ride a 2018 yz250 and I totally prefer my kx over the yz. Neither bike ever let me down, but the kx was just the bike that felt right for me.

Of all the 2 stroke 250cc mx bikes the Suzuki RM250 hit the hardest in my experience. Most fun to ride. Would love to see you do a build on one of those

Out of all the 250s I've owned, I really enjoyed the 06 yz250, 01 cr250, and 01 steel frame yz250 for trails. The 02-07 Hondas also can be amazing with a little work. Never owned a rm250 or kx250 (but own a worked up kx500 and she rips). For 500s I still prefer hondas over everything. All the two strokes can be great, with correct jetting and a little suspension work, head work and porting. Some bikes have everything perfect except suspension, other bikes have great suspension but weak motors, while some got a fairly good package in between with good suspension and decent motors.

I bought a 2003 KX 250 6 years ago for $ 1500. I ride it every season, and I've done nothing to it other than chain, sprockets and breaks. Runs great!

Definitely get a kx 250 2 stroke.... I got an 04 kx 250 and she’s a beast!! So fun to ride!!! Always puts a smile on your face no matter what

Yes a good friend has one and it is a beast..the 06kx250 has one of the most powerful motors of all time some would say top 3

I have a 1993 kx250 and love it. Have my eye on a kx500
My last race bike (old guy here: last race was over a decade ago) was a '01, which was not very different from that year, although mine wasn't stock. I always preferred KXs back in the day: great motors and stable handling. The latter was more important to me than really quick turning because I also did some cross country and desert racing. Man, this video brought back some great memories!

Had a 98 KX250 and it was phenomenal.
98 was badass.. crazy power ..I bought the 99 it was awesome as well.. after that Kawasaki made it to mellow..we both had the best kxs 2003 wasn’t bad but didn’t have as much power as yours did or mine.. I will admit you had the best one brother!
Yes the 98 kx250 was a great bike. It was as good as pretty much anything made today.

Yep, they’re powerful. The only issue these bikes had was pushing the front end a little in turns. Solid and stable bike though.

@@dirtniron 👍The positive part of these perimeter framed KXs was landing from jumps. If you were sideways or out of shape, the frame would straighten the bike out in landings. Also they helped stability on whoops, stutter, and braking bumps :)
Apparently you can change the rear shock linkage and drop the front end a smidge to clear that up. I have this exact bike and am just trying to adapt to it.

I love this bike i have one and its my dream bike.
I rebuilt a 2007 RM250 years ago. Boy did that thing rip. Throttle was crisp. I have yet to come across that year bike since.

actually he won 3 races on a kx250 in supercross, none outdoors. he only raced the 250 2 stroke one year. he was smoking everyone on a kx125 though
My mate has the LAST EVER KX250 ever made in 2008 with a letter from the boss of Kawasaki, that thing whatever Kawasaki did to the last 20 bikes, but his eats the latest 2020 450s!
Just got my hand on a kx 250 (2007) last year in production. It will be a longterm project, but i will go as close as factory i can (mix of Carmichaels factory chevy 2001) and Stewarts last in line kx 250 sr in 05. A tribute to that era of factory two strokes.

I love my 2003 kx250 it's the last year of their 2stroke and mine is in great condition I paid 900$ for it from my uncle..it literally sat barely ridden in the last 15 years he had it..its a gnarly bike for sure

Well I can tell you this much maybe not right at the moment because I have myself in fighting whether or not I want to keep it for a while and then sell it after I saved up a little bit of money to get a KX 250 XC or keep it and just save my money up for a little longer and get one of these newer style four-stroke Enduro Motocross style bike however that being said I can guarantee you if I do decide to sell it I can let you know sir lol

@@dirtniron I felt like the kx had a little more bottom end and it felt softer than the yz and tracked straighter and handled better in my opinion. Might possibly be because I'm shorter and it seems like the kx is better for shorter riders but im not too sure.

I want to do MX 2 stroke next
I have been wanting a 2 stroke for awhile. I usually will come across great deals on bikes but over the years I only come across 4 strokes. Also I have a repair shop and we end up getting bikes left in the shop every year. This year we had 4-5 4 strokes abandoned but zero 2 strokes.
2 strokes are gaining on their value for sure
@@dirtniron we did have a late 90s CR250 come in recently that was in bad shape. I was hoping the customer would abandon it since he was not trying to spend any serious money to fix it. It needed a full rebuild he wanted to put a band aid on it which we do not do...either fix it right or get it out my shop! He chose to take it :(

Found a 05 for 800 needs a piston job on it...think I'll get it.
Which is why you just buy a new one for not much more. People have lost their minds with what they are asking for old clapped out track bikes lol
I had one and shoulda never sold it, was mint and loaded with all the goodies. Was nothing but a blast, but i agree on the rough/stiff even with kayaba front and reactive rear mine was stiff

06? That KX250 finished last in every shootout that year. They went with a strange Shoyaba fork, a Showa fork filled with KYB internal parts. Nobody ever got those to work well. The stinkbug rear suspension sat so high that it turned like a cruise ship. Pro Circuit made a fortune selling a long lowering link that dropped the rear end nearly 2 inches. That's probably another reason why you were sliding forward. Part of the reason that the power is so raw is that Kawasaki always used cheap reeds, with some VForce reeds and a PC pipe you have a motor that can do it all.
The fastest and best handling late model KX250 was the 1998.

My daughter's husband just gave me a 1998 kx 250 with after market front suspension it has a bad coil and missing some plastics I just ordered everything it needs and it's all out for delivery today 😮 hope it has spark and don't have to purchase a magneto plus it looks brand new doesn't look like it's ever been down I ordered black plastics because that's what it had can't wait to rip😮
Just bought my second 98 last year the 97-98 are powerhouses. They detained them 99 onwards. Congrats my first one was all black plastics
Def pick up a KX250 if you can one, that’s mint, be sick to see on channel.
Just one tip bud, ride a gear higher, plus if you feel you are going to light up the rear tire esp in the corners, work on clutch and throttle control.
You need to be the pilot on the bike not the bike, you need to find a spot where you can drill / practice corners, picking lines, inside, outside, on your own without others on the track at the time, there’s a tone on ways to corner a 250 2t esp, for each corner and esp for passing traffic, it’s the best thing gs a 4t, you can put it anywhere, anytime if you have the techniques dialled, practice this and you won’t need allot of time on a new bike you haven’t ridden before and you’ll be allot safer esp in traffic 🤙

What's a realistic price you would have to pay in NZ/AU for that bike? I think he said $2K for it which is crazy cheap, probably more like 3K where I'm from. Thanks.

If say that the 2002 KTM 250sx is the most powerful 250 they make rn, they actually made it so powerful that they had to dial it down in 2003. The suspension was also better in 2002, IMO. I would think it’d be cool if you tried to get one, you definitely won’t regret it.

@@frankiemarchese2978 yes man i just splited my cases for second time in 60 hours bcs of crank seal.First time didn’t put original one and she blow it after 20 hours.also my gearshift(4-5th gear) stoped to work suddenly.than i found some piece stuck in gears which i have no clue from where it comes.except that is bone stock and have some power man.You did some extra work on yours?
Damn, did it mess your transmission up at all? Mine is all stock, just added a couple graphics. Shroud graphics are still oem and barely have any marks on them 👍

Im a honda fan ive only ever had Kawasaki 2 strokes I love there powerband it's violent as I say yzs 250 is up there but honda stopped doing 2 strokes in 07 fcking shame
