I would think that we domesticated guppies too. I recently bought some. Never had them before. They behave completely different from all the fish I kept before (rainbowfish, tetras, rasboras), more similar to a Betta. They are not at all afraid of me. They practically follow me and beg for food. Maybe their wild relatives are also so brave. 🤷🏼♀️ But to me they seem like small water puppies when compared to their tankmates, that are mostly afraid of me and hide when I move.
They also have good influence on tank mates. My cpd's stopped hiding and being skittish after I introduced the guppies. Now all are one big family, feed from the surface and swim in the open.

Hi Alex, Thanks for another interesting video. A suggestion for a possible future topic is unexpected inhabitants in your aquarium. In my aquarium I noticed a very tiny snail, 1/4 inch, crawling on the glass. I have no idea how it showed up as I haven't added any additional fish, snails or plants to my aquarium in over one year. I do have one mystery snail however the tiny snail has a cone shaped shell. The only items added are dried and frozen foods plus botanicals. Cheers

The Sturddlefish story you told is incorrect, they were not part of a monster tank display nor did they breed on their own terms. They were accidentally created by researchers trying to induce a form of parthenogenic reproduction in both species, to see if they could breed them in captivity because they're endangered. They used male paddlefish milt with female sturgeons as a control, not expecting viable hybrids to occur.
Also the mangrove killifish is definitely not the only vertebrate that can reproduce asexually without aid, other species of fish, squamates and even some birds can do this.
Yeah i was going off the early news stories that got some info mixed up... and called it an accidental spawn... but now i have pinned a correction someone else said, as you did. Thank you!
@LIMAX theyre the only ones apparently that dont produce clones of themselves or dual x chromosomes that are both the same. According to the paper when they were last classified it said theyre the only ones that are known to produce non-clone offspring... amazon mollies do another version of that sometimes... i think sheepshead fish too? And lots of reptiles and amphibians can self clone in various ways

Carp kept in Europe in middle ages (Cyprinus carpio) did not have colour variations. The only difference between different lines were scale patterns. They still look the same today.
@@Fishtory no, Cyprinus carpio never had and does not have any other colour forms than natural form. Koi is diffetent species - Cyprinus rubrofruscus. Common carp we farm and eat to this day in Europe comes from wild C.carpio inhabititing Danube and Volga rivers.

This is why I refuse to buy some fish that will only live for only 2-3 years.this is why I look for fish that will last like Mascara Barb's will live for 8 years but I can't find them, so I got 7 baby Shubunkin's they can live 15 years I'm growing them up so I can put them in my koi pond out back

I work in a pet store and guppy are one of the few fish that will just all swim in the net when you dip it in hahahaha
