    I strongly approve of this Phantom Brave sequel. I miss Ash's original VA, but I'm glad we got Marona back.

      My understanding is that Lex Lang is still the VA for Ash

    Though Im not really that down with the story and character changes so far, I was so excited for this game when it was announced, and im still happy it exists. I Grew up with the original and i hope that this might encourage some people to try the original.

    In not gonna lie...I pretty much predicted the entirety of the story. I'm calling who the dude in the mask is too.
    But i like the idea of Marona being a hero and teaching Apricot how to get through her own journey of self discovery.
    Lastly, this isn't bad for your first video like this. Im rooting for you and i hope you make more. Seeing new channels talk about my favorite games like this gives me hope that i could possibly become a RUclipsr one day or even a VTuber.

      I know what you mean for predicting the story, I tried to allude to that in the video as well but I guess I wasn't clear!
      I see what you mean, Marona is a good person to teach Apricot, and having gotten further into Ch 2 now I can see how this is more or less Apricot's journey, with Marona acting as Ash did for her.
      Also thank you for your kind words! As I mentioned this series is very dear to me, and I love ranting about stuff like this (sometimes I look back on a vlog I made way back when where I talked about the release of the BRS game). I hope to make more content soon, making this video was way more fun than I expected

    fortunately, I didn't play the original Phantom Brave, just the horribly botched thing that is the Switch NIS Classics. This makes The Lost Hero feel like an improvement.
    Edit: it still crashes on random dungeons. That needs to be fixed *immediately* because it means a major hook straight up doesn't work

    I like the demo and most likely get the full release. However i defiantly feel this is a more safer story (which isn't a bad thing as not everything needs a grit harsher than sandpaper) and my only fear with the game is that its not as indepth compared to something like disgaea.

    • @itsrelu4869

      @@senorapples1115 I played the first game and I feel like both have similar depth of mechanics. Maybe not if you are comparing to newer disgaeas, but definitely PS3 disgaea era depth. And yeah, I guess that's really my only gripe, I know I tried to play it up a bit though. I really am looking forward to the full release, hopefully my copy doesn't take too long in the mail~

    The game is pretty good but the OG game will always be my favorite. Also I always play with Japanese dub. It just the demo maybe the story will get more interesting later.

    When I heard a Phantom Brave sequel was announced, I was absolutely baffled and nearly fell over. I didn’t have much of a spot for the story in my heart when I played through the game as an 11 year old and playing it again a decade later, I can appreciate it much more. I’m a little disappointed with how the story has been so far in the sequel however, I do enjoy the gameplay and I’m excited to see how in depth the mechanics of the game may turn out to be. Although I still largely have a preference for the charming, 2d pixelated style of art NIS used in other titles, the sequel taking advantage of the 3d environment with changes such as the movement during battle, is a breath of fresh air. Looking forward to the video essay and what other content you make in the future!

    I think the fact that this game exists is a miracle on itself. Also, the team is probably (almost) completely different. I don't know, I don't find it to be that bad, or the original to have this groundbraking story. It was ok as most of Nippon Ichi's.

    I will agree, Marona sort feels of off. The VA took some time getting used too. But Marona is still trying to be a beacon of hope, and she is doing it for others like most importantly Apricot.Apricot is a shy phantom that Marona first meets, and helps her build up confidence... And never lets her down no matter what situation they may be in, even if they don't understand it fully. Marona will try to keep doing the better good for anyone.
    I don't know much about the last game but I know the story goes darker, but I feel like there is a bit of promise for the game still.
    Even if the start is ruff, and I kind of see where the story might be heading, but if it threw me off for Rouen at the time. Then something could be looking foward too, but if not. I say the gameplay is fun still, and would recommend players to play a bit of this one to get a feel for the old one, because I know how hard it is to understand the old one 💔

    I hate the 3D chibi models and overly colorfullness of all NIS games now. Why reach peak sprite art and then stop? They kept it in Disgaea RPG.

    • @AizakkuAnalysis
      @AizakkuAnalysis 8 дней назад

      Personally, there was nothing more for them to do with that style. They perfected pixel art, transitioned to the hand-drawn aesthetic, and now they're exploring 3D.
      I just hope they're able to create something incredible with it at some point.

    • @Jordunk
      @Jordunk 8 дней назад +3

      Whatever they're exploring with their 3D has looked terrible to me for their last handful of games lol. I'd be open to 3D Models if they were more proportionate or something. Look at the final boss from Prinny 2. Why can't they just use that style? Not everything has to be chibi. Newer games seem cheaper, yet charge more, too.
      I'd be more interested if they were to explore an HD-2D style with their pixel art style. Actually, that should have been the path they went tbh.

    • @AizakkuAnalysis
      @AizakkuAnalysis 8 дней назад

      @@Jordunk I think that’s a great idea too. I’m not sure why they chose that chibi art style, though-perhaps it was to match the proportions of the in-game sprites.
      While I’d love to see an HD-2D aesthetic, I don’t think Nippon Ichi Software has the budget for something like that.

    • @Jordunk

    I think the original story was vastly superior/more interesting so far, and the chibi style is so unserious... The chibi style also takes away from the combat animations, its much less dynamic than the 2D. It still looks nice, but kind of dissapointing compared to the original.

    How do you rate the performance of the game?
    It was pretty bad back in the Disgaea 6 demo and it seems they still have issues in 7.
    Also, your audio is only on the left channel. You should plug it into the right one as well. (If you are using DaVinci it's in the Clip Attributes.)

    I guess on the bright side, unless "PB2" sells extremely well, this might end up being NIS's final major release. They've been on the verge of shutting down for a while now, with multiple consecutive financial failures. At least then they won't ruin anything else, right?
