Hi Steve, following your further advice I treated myself to a rather expensive laserluchs 5000. I now have a clear picture out to 500 yards with the clarity you see on the ATN website videos. So thank you for that, I am now getting the performance I had hoped for.
Thanks again Steve, really like all the detail you go into. I am thinking about this scope for Christmas present from my wife. your video might push me over the edge. This scope has so many bad reviews has been my hold up. Seems like people either really love it or hate it, very little ground in the middle.
Many thanks for your kind comments. That is the purpose of the channel / video is to help people to decide before they spend the cash with as much truthful and honest facts as possible without the fear of sponsors cutting me off. Thanks for your subscription and comments, they really help to boost me up. Let me give this advice if you are wanting to get this as a present. If you are after a replacement for normal sight optics for target shooting, I personally would not bother as the pixellation is pretty bad when zoomed in as you can see from some of the videos. Optics are much better. but If you are wanting a hunting scope for game, I would recommend it, especially since it has the ballistic calculations, night capabilities and of course the recording. I will cover more in the next 2 videos I have planned.
Hi was wondering if this scope would work on a break barrel thanks in advance and I just found your channel very informative because I'm very interested in buying the scope I have a few break barrels want to use it for ratting and you have all the power nighttime pesting
I can't see why not, but I am dubious to say yes directly as I have not tried it. You would have to make sure you are picatinny mount as this scope is only that and of course you have clearance for the break barrel.
Are you still using this ATN scope? I've just bought one for my 17hmr, and I think they may have changed the supplied IR torch to a better model, I was on my in laws farm Monday night, and I could make out the sheep (scope not yet mounted) out to 300yds on the standard ATN IR illuminator.
Steve, I think if you had not used those light reducers you would have had better results. I can see out to a hundred and fifty meters plus with mine on Low sensitivity and the supplied IR850 also set to low. I like the white vice the green. It seems like there is better contrast. That Kricket drills them in there. Great vid. Thanks. Really like your intro and trailer. Well done.
Oh something else that I am not sure I noticed but you might think about; It seems like (to me) that my image is clearer and brighter during the day if I put the light reducer at the far end of the glare tube vice the objective end... probably just me but if you look at it tell us what you think.
When ever I have the reducer on, it is on the far end of the sun shield as you say. This also helps with focus giving more focus control / depth. Thanks
Excellent videos Steve. Just got a 5-20 but I don't seem to get anywhere near the clarity as you do on night mode. What have you found are the optimal settings please?
I have found the Sensor in the scope is very sensitive and I seem to blow out the image with too much light. Try putting the sun shield and the light reducing adapter whilst in night mode and see if that works better. Sometimes it does for me and reduces the amount of IR light hitting the unit. It is trail an error though and close by objects such as bushes will totally blow out the image. Also check the focus, that makes a huge difference and is normally set different for night.
Thanks Steve. A combination as you suggested of, sunshield, careful focusing and narrowing the IR beam, is now giving me a good picture out to 50m. Still not getting the 100 yards others seem to be getting though/
Andy p the IR torch supplied will struggle past 75m. It is only a freebie and as others have found you will need to upgrade to a better torch or remove the shield and adapter as you range out.
Sorry I don't know mate and never used one. By the ping if you mean a red / coloured laser dot, then I am pretty sure you should be able to as the night vision on the ATN is still optical, but with the IR filter flipped out of the way. I have a red dot distance laser I use for measuring for DIY around the house and will see if I can see that in the night scope, but it will be a limited test.
Hi Steve, Thanks for the quick reply, the ping is a white vertical line from the nitesite, mine is from CRS , if it is visible it will be an excellent package!
TBH I have no idea if it would be visible. If this line is visible in normal IR, then it will be in the ATN as it is just a normal CCD with the IR filter flipped up. I am afraid google is your friend here on this one and search if others have tried it. Check this out, looks like one fitted to an older X-Sight. ruclips.net/video/FuZYH6GjmGM/видео.html
I picked one up and the night vision looks like crap, the white screen is full of static and the green is only viewable out to about 20 yds. The illuminator helps some but not enough...for the price.
You really need to replace the IR torch with a better one. The one supplied is good out to 20 - 30m, but after that you need to upgrade. As i comment in the videos, the resolution of the screen leaves a lot to be desired, especially at zoom levels. Definitely not HD quality

Andy p nice one mate. post a li k to it for others considering it.
Thanks Steve, that was a lot more informative than their reviews and explained better. thanks again from Australia.
Glad it was helpful!

Yes I have it on my older Kalibrgun Cricket. You are right, they change the IR torch to a better one in later packages

Cheers buddy. Have been thinking about this as well and will give it another play when I get time and post a follow up video.

Hi Steve,
Do you know if the "ping" of the Nitesite rangefinder would be visible through the X sight at night?
Cheers
