Thanks for the shout out @11:42. I supported Dricus from day 1, but I must admit that I'm very bias because I'm a South African. In South Africa, sport is very important for us, we see sport as a way to peace. The mindset of the professional athlete in SA, is to be the absolute best for the country and in return they get 100% support from 52 million South Africans. Go and look in many sports from around the world, how many South Africans has either been ranked at nr. 1 or at least in the top 10. The stats might just surprise you. Here are some sporting greats: Gary Player, Ernie Els, The Springboks (4 times Rugby World Cup winners) and of course a new addition to this list, is DDP. There are plenty more names
South African here. Let me give you some context. I did not give a flying F about MMA until Dricus started canceling your champions. I think I’ve had a faster learning curve on this sport in the last six months than on anything else, ever. And I am not alone. South Africa is a small country. We’ve been through a very tough time, it is like we are coming out of an abusive marriage with our government and Dricus (and the Springboks and Proteas) are some of the small points of light that remind us we are alive. Dricus knows this. He isn’t fighting because he wants to win. He is fighting for US, we the people. And we are with him. Whoever gets in the octagon with him, is not just fighting him, they are fighting 60 million South Africans who are desperate for a win at something, anything. Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie. Now you also know what we know.
@@derekstuart9731 Dricus is the physical manifestation of our entire nation’s fighting spirit. South Africans are gritty people. We are awkward and goofy and people criticize our style, but we are tough as nails, we fight like cornered dogs and we have no quit in us.

I enjoy your Dricus enthusiasm. This is my second BryceFromBoston video, so I won't forget the name. I myself am in South Africa. I'd always hoped for Dricus, but in my mind's eye, I thought of him as someone taking his Germanic toughness into the octagon, without paying too much heed to skill. Like many more discerning people also thought. Only now, after his most recent victory, have a I delved into his previous fights. And only now I realize the caliber of people he's been up against, even before UFC. What a fun guy.
Bryce, I'm with you as a Dricus fan... But why is no one talking about Jack jenkins? This dude is so good, and he looked better than ever in his last performance. Idk if you have any videos about him. I'm calling it now, he will be in the top 10 at fw by the end of the year, and he's just entering his prime.
One thing people dont understand is we dont have 100 fighters in the UFC like the US, Oz, NZ or Russia. We have two. And every time they fight, the whole country is behind them.
Dricus is all heart and will to win. He is different than any other fighter. Unlike other fighter he is not afraid to close very long distance to create opportunity. We never seen champion blitz like him. To beat him you have to risk everything and be aggressive like him
I don't understand how people say someone will win through being biased. I look at Adesanya and I look at DDP and with my limited knowledge I say Adesanya will win. Meanwhile I wish DDP wins. I am a South African by the way. Just because I dislike Izzy and like DDP doesn't mean I'm going to pick DDP to win.
I think alot of people initially werent fans because his movement was unorthodox and looked "off" to them. But the shift after the Strickland fight was what Volkanovski experienced. When Volk beat Max, it was by 3 rounds to 2 in a decision victory against a popular fighter. He got so much hate, where generally people can accept some fights will be close decisions, as long its not their guy who lost. But Volk eventually won people over when they saw how much heart the guy has, and always put on an exciting fight. The tide seems to have shifted for DDP in the same way, when they put their biases aside, you cant help but appreciate a fighter who fights their heart out, always goes for the finish, always wants to put on a show.
I like Izzy and I like DDP. And I thought Izzy KO's DDP in the 3rd. And it was looking like it for a bit in the 3rd. But as a South African I got up in the 3rd to pray for a win. And I nearly broke the coffee table when he did. I love and hate that fans are so passionate about the sport.
We need to also take into account, only 1 fighter in history has beaten, Robert, Sean and Izzy. That person is Dricus. Plus it was done 1 after another.
Dricus didn't do anything flashy during the fight but he definitely was very efficient imo at what he did. tbh I wasn't invested at all in this fight, I thought the whole "battle for Africa" angle that people went with kinda forced. It's interesting to see how much of a nose dive Adesanya took with these last few fights tho.
I so agree considering Izzy represents nobody but himself. DDP walks into the fight wrapped in his Country’s Flag🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦 He also has around 60 Million other Proudly South Africans firmly in his corner. He makes no excuses, doesn’t cry and gets shit done. He is OUR Hero🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
The man is built like a gorilla, so I can't understand why people call him out for looking lacklustre techniquewise. He doesn't need to be as technical since he is so much more physical than his opponents. And clearly he has excellent tactics and strategy, along with the ability to implement and adapt them when it matters.
They never will respect him they or ready looking for his next opponent for his downfall he just a fighter that nobody likes unless he do something out off the box again that nobody expected
