Seth Jaffee Hey man, game looks GREAT. Insta-buy for me for sure. I just ordered it. Can’t wait to get it to the table. I think the Crusader’s artwork did it for me. They look amazing. Thanks for an awesome game!
Agreed on the opening with the cuts instead of hand-held. Perfect and professional. I know it takes a little more camera setup and editting but it's much much better!
A “Suitable replacement” I carrot be-leave it. I mean, picking vegetables? Seems a little cucumbersome. And anyway, vegetables have bean and corn. I don’t mean to beet it about the bush. Peas, no more vegetables. ... I’ll show myself out, shallot I?
Great video. I played this game twice and watched it played one time before I played. The first I played it I did not enjoy it so much but the second time I played I enjoyed it much more. I think after I watched your RUclips video I will not be so hesitant when Crusades is brought to the table again. Thank you for all the videos you make.I appreciate all the ones I have seen.
Thanks for another great video, Rodney! Just got the game today, and it's always awesome to not have to read every single rulebook in the universe :D Hopefully get this played tonight!
This looks really good and interesting. It appears to have a Terraforming Mars level of complexity, or maybe slightly below that. I love the setting, the Crusades is a favorite historical period of mine. Thanks for sharing this one Rodney.
I appreciate the twist you gave to this video’s intro (I guess to smooth out some of the backlash you previously got in comments), but I think I prefer the handheld intro method better. I find that the rough edits in the intro dialogue too jarring. Between this method, the original table-intro method, and the handheld method for the intro, the latter gets my vote. You still get an A for effort. Keep plugging away.
Nice review of this game. I get the feel you are trying to get with pulling the game from the shelf and that you like the idea. I think this format was far better than the moving camera but I think there would be a much better flow if you don't do the cut where you bend down to get the game. Just a full view of you reaching for the game on the shelf and perhaps as another viewer said put it back at the closing of the video. I think a few more little touches and it will achieve exactly that feel I think your looking for. This is a much better feel than your earlier attempts at this new format. Keep up the good work. Love your channel.
Awesome job Rodney! I got my deluxified copy and hate teaching games. This is going to be perfect for my game group. I want to play it really bad. Thanks so much. Your the best!
Insert many Monty Python and the Holy Grail jokes here (ah and Holy Grail expensive games) Variants: Learning how to play and First Standard game is an interesting way to do a 'Learn to play' which games usually do up front or 'Stop read this first' or 'once you're familiar with basic rules then play the advanced game' etc.
I know you’re sponsored by BGG and the publishers for games, but my friend Tim and I will pay you to do one for Trajan! Neither of us think we’ve played it correctly.
@Watch It Played I just bought this game and am excited to play it! But my question is has nothing to do with the game itself... Where did you get those shelves? Are they custom made? They are nice and look exactly what I'm looking for to store my board game collection.
Great video of a pretty good game. On your (and JonGetsGames') recommendation, I got his game. I've played it a couple of times. Pretty good. Thanks again.
Looks like a great game. Definitely going on the list. My only question is, for the suitable replacement, is the onion worth 5 and the carrot 🥕 one? I really want to know how many times you have to practice the cover flip..... Great job, as usual!!!
Quick question if a wedge has no action tokens on it can I still take the action if it has bonuses from somewhere else? Or must a wedge have action tokens in order perform its action?
Looks like a really fun game! How long does it take to play? Are there any VP replacements not considered suitable? :) I suppose anything that might ruin your tabletop... in which case your choice here is questionable, but hilarious!
During testing, a 3p game took pretty consistently 42 minutes :) I'd say once you learn it, the game will take about 15 mins per player. Expect to add about 15 minutes to that for your first play (this will obviously depend on your specific group)
@@sethjaffee7104 Wow I was expecting about twice that length! It would be nice to add a game to my collection that is on the shorter side... although one member of my game group suffers tragically from AP so I'm sure it will still take well over an hour to play LOL!
Damnit... yet another interesting game so many games, so little time. Could you maybe start a channel where you don't make the games sound interesting? that way I would not feel bad for not having time to try them all :) Just kidding of course. Keep up the good work :)
And of course I bought it based on what I saw here. 1st play tonight. Fun little area control, and it's blazing fast. If the theme at all interests you, I recommend it.
I love you, but this is just my two cents. I realize some people like the changes in the introduction of the video, but I find it very jarring. Part of that could just be I am used to the opening video being a specific way as a long time fan, but I also think even as someone who hasn't seen your previous videos, that the edits come across a little bit stiff and clunky. I just don't feel that genuine flair I got with the previous introductions which were always a single take. I feel like this is production for the sake of production. You should do what you want, but that's my opinion.
Entirely fair - it won’t appeal to everyone, but I’m enjoying this, and it seems to be working on balance so will likely stick with it for the foreseeable future. Always appreciate the feedback though!
A lovely breakdown of a game whose mechanics I really believe I would love. Sadly, the theme is a deal breaker for me. I can't see myself displaying a game about the Crusades on my shelf, even if it includes Prussian and Slavic enemies alongside Saracens. This is a shameful and indefensible period in the history of Western Civilization, and especially the Church. Feel free to disagree with me, belittle my decision, or even shout "deus vult!" at the top of your lungs. I, personally, could never in good conscious present it to my group.
Same - It's a mancala roundel. That's a really interesting combination of mechanics (that actually makes it work more like a mancala than most games using a mancala mechanism). Just a shame the theme, especially when tackled in this way, is so... Off putting.
@@giampaolofini1535 I'm perfectly fine playing all sorts of historically themed titles that don't involve an organized religion telling its faithful that they can secure their place in heaven by traveling to a foreign land and killing in the name of God, unless you dispute those facts. No matter how many 'sides' there are to an issue, I would no more play this than I would a game themed around modern jihadi. Save the sophistry until you have a better rebuttal than "history isn't black and white".
@@sardonicpoet fair enough. I'm sure some people don't want to play the German side in WWII games because of the Holocaust, and that's fair too. Lots of historical periods reflect the worst side of human nature and I can't argue with someone not wanting to play that in a game. I've studied the Crusades a little and it's a very complex period, worth exploring beyond the simple world of games.
The best board game series on youtube, no contest.

Nice job with polishing the game gathering and reshelving part of the video. Feels much more natural and smooth.

It needs action tokens.
