- Today I am sharing a copycat version of my family's two favorite Chik-Fil-A dipping sauces. Because sometimes sauce is life, and you just gotta have it, these two will see you through. Chik-Fil-A Sauce is a delicious combination of honey mustard and barbecue sauce and the Polynesian sauce, my personal favorite, is a delicious version of sweet and sour sauce. We are fans of Chik-Fil-A for so many reasons, but the chicken, mostly, and those waffle fries! Don't even get me started. Sometimes, you want those sauces to dip your homemade nuggets into and just don't have one of those little cups left in your fridge. Today I am here to share with you how easy it is to make these delicious dippers on your own, with a few simple ingredients you probably already have in your fridge and pantry!
First we can start with the namesake sauce. This is a sauce I did not even know about until educated properly by my then 13 year old who requested extra. I had no idea. If you don't know about "Chick-Fil-A Sauce", do yourself a favor the next time you are in that line and ask for some to dip your nuggets or your fries and you will thank me. Don't have a Chick-Fil-A near you? No worries, the recipe is easy! This is glorified honey mustard. It was originally an accident concocted at one of their restaurants when an employee accidentally mixed the honey mustard and the barbecue sauce. In the end it was a serendipitous event.
The sauce starts with mayonnaise, plain yellow or prepared mustard, honey and then the magic, lemon juice and barbecue sauce. That's it! My homemade version, when compared to theirs was less smoky, and a little darker, but things being what they are, this was a very close match. I could add a drop or two of liquid smoke or even a tablespoon more of barbecue sauce to up that flavor. The best part is that you can adjust this to suit your taste! It was delicious and even my girls said it was very good.
The Polynesian sauce is just as easy as the first. I started with good quality Catalina or French salad dressing, added honey, pineapple juice and yellow mustard. Boom! This tasted very close to the original even if it looked a bit different. Rick said it tasted almost identical. Not too shabby for mixing things up from the fridge. I always have pineapple juice in my fridge because I drink it every morning. If you don't have it on hand you could try some orange juice or the next time you are at the store pick up some of those little cans of pineapple juice to keep in your pantry for when you want to mix this up.

We ran up to the local Chik-Fil-a to pick up some of their delicious nuggets to try in our homemade sauces and we did a comparison with their versions. We were pleasantly surprised at how close our versions were.
I hope you give these copycat versions of Chick-Fil-A and Polynesian sauce a try the next time you want to dip your homemade nuggets and I hope you love them!
Happy Eating!

I love Noreen's kitchen and I love Chik-fil-A! Thanks so much for doing this video! Any chance we'll see a copy cat chik-fil-a chicken nugget video? I'd love that!
I love it it’s delicious 🤤
Yummy the Polynesian sauce is my favorite too
Thanks Noreen....looks delicious!
Can't wait to try them! I love chick fil-a
I hope you will post the copycat version of their avocado-lime ranch dressing.
Yeah I have had that and don’t care for it.
Just made em family loves it
Those are my 2 favorite, also!! Yum
BLESS YOU FOR THIS, DARLING!
Thank you very much Noreen, I'm making nuggets as I write this, and we had one Polynesian sauce leftover, so I whipped some up and did a taste test. Great job, it was very close. I noticed the chik fil a brand was milder and much thicker, so I maybe go half a tablespoon of mustard, and more honey. It's almost perfect. The pineapple juice waters it down a bit, but if you had like pineapple syrup..? I bet you could almost 100% replicate it. So thank you for posting, my mom and I both enjoy it. God bless. :3
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your white enamel tray!! Great copy cat recipes!!! I just love sauces. TFS
Chick fi la use liquid smoke in their sauce. I’ve made my copy cat version. That’s the smoky taste.
The smoke flavor is in the barbecue sauce. I added more it was great
Looks good! Now if only you had a chick filet nugget recipe. My daughter would eat chick filet every day if I could afford it. She always gets the sauces you made when she gets some. Can’t wait to try your version:) If you have a recipe for the chick fiLet chicken please post and share 😋
we don't have chic fil a here in Australia, but I will most certainly be making those sauces
Every time I go I just say “please give me as much chik-fil-a sauce as you legally can thank you” lol
Yummm! These look so good!
Noreen the Chic-Fil-A Polynesian sauce contains modified cornstarch and xantham gum. These are both used for thickening so I wouldn’t worry about it. Your recipe looks and sounds delicious. I guess you could simmer it in a skillet to thicken it but would that change it to Golden Skillet? 😂 Great recipes. Thanks.
TFS. I’ve made your everything but the bag seasoning. Loved it. I’m making this tonight. 👍🏼
I just have an everything Bagel topping. It is not a copycat of anything.
Polynesian is my fave!!!!
Thanks. Having nuggets for dinner tonight!
Oh my goodness I’m making these tonight and we are going to go to chick filet tomorrow for lunch we have a homeschooling field trip afterwards thank you Noreen hugs to you
Great video! Thank you ❤️👍
Looks good thanks
this video is super nice and good💐👌💐👌
Yum. I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried either of those sauces. I’m not a fan of honey mustard though. They look delicious!
thank you !!
~ Our 21 year old daughter is going to go nuts when I show her your recipes for these sauces! She LOVES Chick-fil-a sauce!
And, no, like you, I did not know it was a thing until she, just like Molly, came home one time complaining about how they gave her only ONE sauce! She was so upset!
😩😔😢😫
About a month ago I was playing around with different ingredients for sauces to dip our potato wedges and your roasted broccoli 🥦 (no matter how big of a batch I make their always finished off even before the potato wedges, lol) and accidentally concocted a sauce very similar to Chick-fil-a’s Polynesian Sauce, but, I guarantee you, yours is a much closer version. I didn’t even think of adding lemon to any of the sauces 🤦🏻♀️
Do you think Chick-fil-a uses liquid smoke in their sauce? Or, would that be too smoky? 🤔
p.s.
Everyone in our family loves Chick-fil-a aside from me 🤪 ... and I tried it way before I went plant-based. I get a lot of grief about it, but it’s all in good fun. (For “not-being-a-Chick-fil-a-fan” ... not for being “plant-ba-“ ... okay, okay, I get ribbed for a mixture of both, lol). However, As long as I’m stirring up their favorites of your recipes for them, they’re happy campers! I’ve even ‘veganized’ quite a few of your recipes- hey, I want to be a happy camper too! Lol! The family loves both versions- I mean- their Noreen’s Kitchen recipes- what do you expect!
Thank you for sharing your copy-cat recipe on these sauces!!!
Blessing ~
I think if you use a smoke flavored BBQ Sauce it will taste like the original sauce. Personally, I make the original sauce as you do but I add a couple drops of liquid smoke in it.
yum-o
👍😋
Can you do a copycat recipe of the Chic-Fil-A regular Honey Mustard? I've found others that claim they are making the honey mustard, but it ends up being the Chic-Fil-A sauce instead.
I just showed honey mustard in this video. Before I added the lemon juice and bbq sauce Just leave those out.
Thanks for the reply...I don't think the chic fil a honey mustard is a mayonnaise base sauce, it seems to be some combination of honey, mustard, and maybe corn syrup and vinegar. It seems sweet to me, but also bites at your tongue a bit hence why I think there is some vinegar in there.
It is a mayo based sauce. The ingredients say it has egg yolk in it. Along with all the other ingredients necessary for mayonnaise. Oil eggs, mustard, seasonings etc. Mustard and mayo both have vinegar in them as does barbecue sauce. It is a mayo based sauce. You can look it up online. www.chick-fil-a.com/Sauces-Dressings
I'm just curious- do you still post printable recipes on your website? (new ones) Obviously this is simple & I can just jot down the small list of ingredients on these, but I just love to print off recipes for my online collection.
Almost always there will be a printable recipe. This one has just not been posted yet.
So I just found out about this sauce.
Good job, and thanks for sharing but next time don’t tell them your version from the copy cat. Dip it behind there back and let them taste
Can these be canned for pantry storage?
Absolutley NOT!!! Please do more research on canning to understand why. If you had already done that you would not have asked. Not being mean but too many times people ask canning questions without having a clue. Canning this would kill someone.
Noreen's Kitchen ok, sorry. Still learning, and grateful to have knowledgeable ppl like you to help teach me. You were not mean, just stern, reminded me of my mom lol. Thank you Noreen.
Could I leave the mayo out? Jw i hate mayo
Not really. Its in the original and in all honey mustard
I wonder if you cooked on stove, too thicken?
There is nothing in it to cause it to thicken. There is no need to cook this.
You were also saving your family from all the chemicals in the Chick-fil-A sauces.
Copycat recipe without something called "natural flavor", xanthan gum, calcium disodium EDTA -
