    There is nothing more powerful than a ketogenic diet used in conjunction with intermittent fasting. Using this approach, I was able to go from an obese 230 lb (104 kg) man, standing at a short 5'6" tall, to 135 lbs (61 kg) - losing 95 lbs (43 kg), without feeling lethargic or extremely hungry, the way I used to when using low fat/high starch calorie restricted diets. Thank you for using your channel, which has such a large audience, to spread the word about the efficacy of the keto diet.

      Hi Drake, can you please tell me what intermittent fasting is?

    • @alphacause
      @alphacause 6 лет назад +12

      Yuliya Novikova, intermittent fasting is simply were you extend the time that you do NOT eat for longer, and you consume your total caloric intake in a smaller time frame throughout the day. Intermittent fasting can best be defined as a way of eating that is the exact opposite of the way the typical American eats.
      For example, the typical American will eat three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner), and one or two snacks. Hence, from the time that a typical American wakes up in the morning, until the time they go to bed, they are consuming foods almost every 3 to 5 hours. Every time they eat, they raise insulin, and this rise in insulin prevents fat burning, and if this is done chronically, it can induce insulin resistance in the person. So when the person becomes insulin resistant, their insulin levels are chronically elevated, even when they don't eat, and that causes the person to have an impaired ability to burn fat, which leads to weight gain and difficulty in losing weight. This is the primary cause behind much of the obesity epidemic in the western world - eating too frequently, and eating foods high in refined carbohydrates/sugars, which further exacerbate insulin resistance.
      Intermittent fasting seeks to do the opposite, and by doing the opposite, it reverses the insulin resistance, which is causing weight gain. There are two typical strategies to do intermittent fasting. One that is very common is to skip breakfast, and only eat lunch and dinner. Hence if lunch is eaten at 12:00 pm and dinner is eaten at 6:00 pm, one should stop eating, and not eat again until lunch the following day - that gives someone a 18 hour fasting window. The other form of intermittent fasting, which is the one I do, is called OMAD (One Meal A Day). As the name implies, you eat one large meal, where you consume all your calories for the day, and then you don't eat until the same time the next day. Hence, if you eat a large lunch, you don't eat dinner that day, and you don't eat breakfast the next day, and you will only eat at lunch time the following day. This will giving you nearly 24 hours in a fasted state, thus giving you plenty of time for your insulin levels to come down, thus inducing your body to rely on its fat stores for fuel.

    • @Msyuliyasf
      @Msyuliyasf 6 лет назад +1

      Thank you for a clear explanation. It sounds something that I already do, I skip breakfast and only have bulletproof coffee, not sure if it considers being a breakfast? I read somewhere online that when you don't eat, your body collects fat cells that never goes away, that is why it is recommended to eat small portions every 2-3 hours. But you are saying that you are able to lose weight by eating once a day? Do you check your body fat or just weight? I'm curious to know from the real examples, what works the best in losing fat, not metioning exercising.

    So glad Zuzka is back to her old self. Whatever problems she had seem to be under control because Jesse gets more mentions and Zuzka is more relaxed and not doing those mad product pushing, fast-speaking, out of touch odd videos she did for a few months. I stopped watching her videos for a while because I couldn't take such negative change but kept peeking back in hope she's back to normal and she finally is! Good for her! It's incredible how she can change from one video to another, it completely baffles me but I hope she'll be able to keep up this side of her! Clearly she is much happier and when she is, I am. Thanks Zuzka!

    Hi sus thanks for sharing you’re leyó diet with us, actually a did it for 3 months and my body didn’t like it I get so spongi I stop seeing my abs I was full of water so I come back to a healthy diet with healthy fat and a little bit more of carbs but I don’t eat that much of fat like I used to and my body react so fast in 3 weeks I can see my abs but my arms lose 2 cm of biceps with the keto because I drop down my protein and my body star to eat the muscle, well actually after all this I learned that we are totally different from others and some stuff work for ones and others don’t. Know I’m focus to get back my muscle lost with the keto and train with you every single day. You really make me happy after the workout, a big hug Vanessa from la serena

    I am so glad to find you on Internet. Love your approach to exercize and all other aspects of life. I wanted to ask you about ketogenic diet? I would like to hear your opinion on it. dont undestand why this diet considered very healthy, especially when you do intense exercise. Your body needs energy and its easy to break carbohydrates which comes to body, but to break fat is not that easy. I think your body will start to use muscle tissue to break it. A lot of fat effects liver and liver is silent until almost dead. I believe balance of healthy carbs, fat and protein every meal is the best diet. Waiting for your opinion. Thanks

      Foto4Max truth. If not, humans would never have been able to survive the ice ages... not a lot of pineapple growing in the Czech winter! It's all about ancestrally appropriate diet. Your liver creates all the sugar the body needs via gluconeogenisis using ketones and lactic acid as precursors.

    Zuzka how do you keep your teeth so white? I drink a lot of coffee throughout the day, not just in the morning and I get yellower teeth.

    I'm on a low carb, high fat diet now, as well, and I've seen incredible results! I'm a runner, also, so I do add more carbs on running days for the increase in energy and performance. I would love to see research on countries of origin and the factors they play into bioindividuality. My heritage is German and you are Czech. Many people in my family develop diabetes at an early age, even if they weren't overweight/obese. Perhaps people from this region just don't tolerate carbs well?

    I find it amazing that people can be NOT hungry upon waking... I mean you've been "fasting" for 8-12 hours already since your last meal for the day so one would think your body would be starving for calories... Her diet seems like it's way under 1000 calories, I don't know how she does it. She would do REALLY well in that one show Naked and Afraid where they survive for 21 days with eating a hand full of berries and maybe a small fish... nuts!

    Curious how many calories this amounts to…. bulletproof: 250 + bone broth: 150 + porridge: 500 + salad: 600 = 1,500 calories per day. Doable, but I would be famished the next day!

    • @ClearSmoke100
      @ClearSmoke100 6 лет назад

      Lea Johnson thats underestimating. Bp on average is around 200-250 if you just use some kinda oil and butter. Add heavy cream 300-350. I'd bet she's eating around 15-18 possibly even more. On days she meats 19-20. Also keto is a natural appetite suppressor you feel hungry. If anything you'll feel tired if you don't get enough fats in.

      You are right on the coffee, I guess I measured tsp instead of T. Even so, this daily intake seems pretty close to a caloric deficit for ME. I'm not trying to be overly critical as I am a huge fan of Zuzka, but I'm also a really big fan of eating delicious and mostly nutritious foods. Haha! :)

    Z, you mention a few times about Jessie going out of ketosis but ability to get right back in. How does one know you're in for certain? Or when you've fallen out?? And that you are indeed back in, when you say you are??

    • @darkturnip

      theFitty - She's doing keto, which means she has around 5-10% her cal from carbs, 60-70% cal from fats, 20-30% from protein. Easy peasy to follow that protocol with fitnesspal app and after a while you will know roughly even without it how much if what you can eat.
