    FYI - If you hold "Volume Down" and press "Power" (instead of Volume Up + Power as you mentioned) you hear a chime sound and it goes directly to the boot menu, saving you the step of having to choose the Boot Menu from Bios Menu.

      Ya'll, my steam deck arrives Wednesday!!! Oh my gawd, what do ya know, what do you say!? Im bringing with me to work everyday cuz I got alot of downtime in my truck when getting unloaded and stuff. If I want to get online away feom home, how do I do that? Is there wifi I can buy to use for the deck on the go? Can I use my Verizon mobile hotspot? How does that work? Most games I like I can play offline so it's not a big deal if I can't get online away from home but would be nice to know.

      This is great. I saw this emulation interface on another system 1‐2 years ago and thought that it was kind of neat yet I was broke and couldn't justify buying a separate 3rd party console just for this alone but the steam deck being able use both steam os and this in one complete package gives me even more incentive to buy a deck soon. 😁

Don't hesitate to ask if you need more information. Don't hesitate to make a video about the guns, batocera is the only system that supports sinden guns out of the box, and wiimote calibration, and in multiplaers guns games of course ;-)

    • @AlbedoAtoned
      @AlbedoAtoned Год назад +14

      They'd probably perform better in SteamOS since you have easy access to the powertools plugin. With many of those emulators, you actually get better performance by disabling threads or disabling SMT (which disables odd numbered threads, which should in theory work better than just disabling them with the slider. Outside of that, the bottlenecks would be hardware and not software since SteamOS doesn't have a high overhead. Both SteamOS and Batocera run on Linux so out of the box they would probably run about the same.

    • @markkilborn512
      @markkilborn512 Год назад

      Would be dumb af, steam OS gaming mode has powertools, performance overlays, battery & fps limiter… gaming mode improves performance.
      Batocera is a pretty backend that will either drain battery faster or damage performance or both, depending on how hard the game is to emulate.

      Its not worth it in general. Unless the only thing your care about is the aesthetic look batocera provides.
      Running games in gaming mode improves performance, batocera if anything removes performance & adds extra resources the deck needs to run in the background, that will just drain battery faster.

    If you're going to be doing a dual boot setup on the Deck then I would prefer an auto menu section while booting up. Having to always remember to physically hold those buttons each time will be annoying fast.

    • @MechanicaMenace
      @MechanicaMenace Год назад +2

      That is possible, but currently a little involved to set up. Valve are going to officially support dual booting once SteamOS 3 gets a general PC release though

    Yes, a tutorial would be great. I really don’t know anything about the setting up of all this emulators, how to select specific options to improve the performance of each game, so, a tutorial explaining all of that would be amazing.

  • @Madblaster6
    @Madblaster6 Год назад +8

    Honestly with EmuDeck installing all the emulators you need in one shot and configuring all the emulator for the deck and even making the hotkeys across all of them consistent, I don't know if this is worth the trouble. Plus you can still tweak the settings to your liking if you want. You can also make just the emulators show up in steam or each game.
    Edit: Plus you retain the Steam Deck functions.

    • @hanspecans
      @hanspecans Год назад +1

      Tweaking all the settings in emu deck is a pain though. Many / most important settings in batocera are accessible from the emulation station menus unlock emu deck’s implementation. (Unless it has recently changed)

    • @Madblaster6
      @Madblaster6 Год назад +2

      @@hanspecans You don't need to tweak them though. I just did because I like having something function differently. All the settings are done for you. You just install.

      i would be interested in a comparison between the 2 systems. but for sure, several things possible on batocera are not possible on emudeck ; this is why batocera was developped at system level, to be able to patch libraries or even drivers, for example to be able to use a wiimote as a joytick pad or a gun which will never be possible on emudeck. batocera is a more than 6 years system, it shares it work but several things have not yet be merged upstream like ps2 8 players on linux, etc. the es seems an old version too. now, recent system like emuelec or retrobat all uses batocera-es because it evolved a lot. it includes options, performances, themes, etc.

    • @Madblaster6
      @Madblaster6 Год назад +1

      @@nicolas.adenis-lamarre I would like to see a comparison as well because at a emulator level, I'm pretty sure you can do what you're saying. EmuDeck isn't a single software exactly, it's a script that installs the emulators you need and configures them for you. I'm pretty sure you can sync a Wiimote to dolphin or even retroarch albeit a few more steps but you only have to do it one. You would just have to open the app and add the mapping. I would like to see a comparison in performance.

    • @nicolas.adenis-lamarre
      @nicolas.adenis-lamarre Год назад

      @@Madblaster6 you can probably pair to dolphin. but not to other emulators. im talking about some changes that require low level modifications. it should be hard to include them into emudeck without braking the rest of the system. on batocera for example, you can use the wiimote as a second pad for a 2nd player for any game.
