- More crazy coolness from Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal! He shot this video for his latest single, 'Cintaku,' spotlighting his work on fretless guitar, two-handed legato, and thimble technique. It’s all played on the signature Vigier DoubleBfoot that serves as his main guitar with Sons Of Apollo, Asia, and his solo band. It has DiMarzio pickups (Tone Zone bridge, Chopper neck) and D'Addario NYXL strings, and he's plugged into a Line 6 Helix going to an Engl Invader head. He also uses Klotz cables and Sinister guitar picks.

I wonder if the fact that he uses the fretless guitar a lot has had an impact on his vibrato ( or lack of it ) on the regular one. Other than that, one of my all time favourite musicians out there. Peace.

I've never heard sweeter lines of guitar from any other soloist. The melodies, phrases, the chord progression. Just wow. Simply brilliant and impeccable!
His economy of motion is rather impressive, just watch how little his fingers actually move from note-to-note compared to some other guitarists. His technique is literally perfect, not that I'm any expert, but I think experts would agree with me. :)
the fretless magic is a game of itself. Damn, that is tasty!

Agree. Equally amazing, different styles but both operating on a higher plane to everyone else, even Vai and Satriani.
For all the trickery and complexity, they never seem to lose sight of the melodic sensibility though, which I find other elite players sometimes struggle to retain.
For me, without melody you can lose something, which is why Uli Jon Roth is probably my favourite player.
Really out of this world level
I really love his approach to arpeggios, very fresh and unique.
In my opinion, Ron is the best guitarist alive, he's in a league of his own.

@@viruscerbero Plus Bumblefoot's music is much better, IMO being a good songwriter is even more important than being super skilled and IMO Guthrie isn't the best at that.
