    Great video man! Loved that the significant other built the blind and hunts as well. Great job all! Keep em coming guys!!!

      Extreme Chase Tours thank you! That's Em's thing... She's all about building and hunting. In fact I'm cutting floor molding while she is hanging a door right now! Gotta love that kind of woman:). I got lucky!

    That's a great idea! My son wanted to start hunting ducks/geese, so I'll definitely try making a few of these! 👍

      FatherAndSonFun 2015 thanks! If in the open and there are no trees or brush behind or over head, you might even want to add a little roof type structure to it. We hunt divers on the bay and the dumb redhead ducks decoy when I'm standing in the water, so the camo isn't really needed but helps when the occasional puddle duck shows up 😁

      Sounds like a lot of fun. I'm taking my oldest son Deer hunting this weekend at our club and then heading to Kansas for a Whitetail hunt the weekend after TGiving with an ole Fraternity brother. Cheers and have fun!!!!!

      UCanDoIt2 Awesome! Good luck! We got skunked in bow season. Just need it to cool off some more here for deer. I hate dealing with mosquitoes and midges and 80+degree heat in a stand.

      T.O.A.G lol. She's like a ninja wielding a samurai sword with that zapper! Not bad for a harbor freight freebie

      Glad its still helping people! Its great for big open water that birds come in low. Obviously would need some altering if birds decoy from up high

      @@HodgePodgeGarage I think I’m going to elevate the blind by 12 inches from the bottom, and use an angle elbow to create a bit of top cover. Can’t believe how inexpensive this rig is. Thanks again!

      Awesome! We still use ours. We actually used it on Thanksgiving day to hunt some wood ducks in out tiny pond.

    I love this concept. Curious - what kind of results have you had with this blind? I plan to give it a try. Hope you’ve had success. Are you just using one, or do you use one in front and one behind?

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  7 лет назад

      Jay Dyer it's awesome! Check out our Facebook page and I'll post some pics of it in use. We only use one, but with dumb redheads and scaup in the bays here we can just stand in the spread and they decoy. Lol

    How do y’all brush it up? And what do have at yalls backs when using this as far as cover. Wanting to make one this week as it’s the break in our OK season and love the idea just wanted to know if I could brush it up and what you had behind y’all thanks

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  4 года назад

      We hunt the texas coast so its big open water. We usually just use a little marsh grasss or nothing at all in front and dont brush the back because most ducks come in from over the water.

    Love the DIY!! Great vid! Not to sound like a jerk, but a camo wall only works for...well...humans. Overhead cover is what matters. The wall looks great across the pond from human eye level, but ducks are in the air.
    Would make a great turkey blind!

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  6 лет назад +2

      Yup hey thanks! We hunt open water in the galeveston bays. Not sure if you're a water Fowler, but the diver ducks often fly inches above the water while traveling spot to spot. Not for mallards and other puddle ducks in a flooded rice field, you are totally right, but this gives great cover for open water

    How did u stake it down?

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  3 года назад

      The poles are taller than the netting so we cut them at an angle and just shoved those into the ground. Then used a couple pieces of paracord and tent stakes from the top of the two poles on the outside to pull them tight

  • @lonestarwaterfowlboys5666
    @lonestarwaterfowlboys5666 6 лет назад

    How did you get the stakes in?? Every way I've tried hasn't worked

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  6 лет назад

      Lonestar Waterfowl Boys I don't understand. You mean into the ground? Most of the area we hunt it soft mud/sand with occasional oyster reefs... So usually just push them in.

    • @lonestarwaterfowlboys5666
      @lonestarwaterfowlboys5666 6 лет назад +1

      Drilled holes in the pipe for the stake but every time I put it in the ground they slide out. But we hunt soft ground marsh to but my yard is soft to and they just pop out

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  6 лет назад

      Lonestar Waterfowl Boys lots of times I don't even put the stakes in the PVC. I just push the PVC into the ground and steak the two lines off the end making it like a big V. The stakes on the lines help keep the top edge of the camo from flapping as much and spooking the ducks.

    What is the name of the green fencing or weed barrier you are using ?Thanks

    • @HodgePodgeGarage

      Terry Munn we used this from home Depot: Everbilt 1 in. x 3.3 ft. x 25 ft. Green Plastic Garden Fence

    • @terrymunn1224
      @terrymunn1224 6 лет назад +2

      Thanks .I saw that product but though what you used was 4 feet high. No problem though I need to go higher so if I cannot find something similar that is 4-5' tall I will just overlap what you used. We are making an A frame blind for ducks and geese hunting.

    • @HodgePodgeGarage
      @HodgePodgeGarage  6 лет назад

      Terry Munn very cool! And yeah. If you just overlap and zip tie it, it's cheap and will work just as good. Just a little extra support so the netting doesn't flap in the wind as much
