Love the way you encourage Dexter to be fully engaged with you. Glad you mentioned the release word. So many people don’t realize the importance. I trained my Bouvier in French Ringsport, and the word “Free” was essential after such hyper focused activity. Good video 👍

Hey Larry....just rewatching Dexter as a puppy. First thing....he's freakin adorable.....I thought the crate top sliding would freak him out but he persisted until he got on that thing! Second.....this is an excellent video for people with young puppies. Alot of times, in my experience, people say they can't do much training bc the pups are limited as to what they can be exposed to until they have all their shots. All these "exercises" can be carried outin the home. Big or small it can be done in home or on a patio....in a garage etc. Thanks so much for helping humans speak "Doginese" lol or "Doglish"! I wonder if he had a traumatic experience at some point or the nerve issues just arose as he matured from his genetics. You would never think by seeing this excited and willing pup that he would have so many nerve and fear issues as he matured.

You can't tell me that the owners followed what they were told to do with this dog......and maintained a calm assertiveness when working with him. This doesn't just happen to a normal, healthy well balanced dog over night. This isn't a case of...."well we went on vacation and had to board him" or "my wife had the baby so we kinda slacked off for a few days". Something was done....something happened. I'll be curious to see the replies to ur comment.
Jenni from The Dock it could definitely be some kind of health issues but most likely you’re right and his training plan wasn’t followed well by the owners. I was so excited to see how that puppy turned out. It’s a shame to see him so nervy but hopefully they can turn things around.
Hey Larry awesome video. You mentioned something that I am dealing with now and can not find a solution for. I have been working with my Shih Tzu puppy for the last 4 weeks. I brought her home at 8 weeks. I am working on all the basics and making good progress. Crate training is becoming a hurdle. I can get her to freely enter wire, plastic and softside crates. I can get her to eat take treats and even respond to go crate when using treats. In any crate with a wire door after about a 2 minutes she is trying to chew her way out of the wired door. In the softside she is fine most of the time. In this video you mention separation anxiety and I think that is the hurdle not so much an aversion to the crate. There is no messing in the crate at all. When I put her in at night she will sleep 3 to 4 hours before she needs to go outside. Most of the time as long as that time is before 3 am I can put her in again without much trouble. After 3 am or at random daylight hours she will wine, bark and screech until she is let out. YOu let her out she calms down and I can even feed or give her treats in the same crate she came out of. When I am doing something in another room for more than 1 minute if she can not see me I get the same behavior out side the crate while she has access to a 8x8 room I have blocked off. I really think I am already fighting separation anxiety. I don't want this to get worse and I have not seen anything about a good solution. I am spending 2 hours before work and 3 hours after work every day making sure she gets basic skills and lots of play and being a puppy. I think we have a great bond forming but I am worried if I don t figure this out I am going to have problems later. Do you have any suggestions or videos you could suggest that would help me.

I believe the title mentioned an Aggressive Pitbull. If ur still struggling and can't find the video talk to a local trainer. If money is a problem and a hiring trainer isn't an option I would be happy to guide and assist you as best we can via social media lol. Hope this helps.
You have a Bouvier.. perhaps the easiest dog to get to sit and wait... and wait... and wait.. Might be the easiest fastest breed to train.. they DO like to get rowdy (free dog), but this is a working/herding dog. I wish I did take video, I used SafeCalm leash for training my girl her territory. It was magic. Bouvs don't need food as much as they need positive affirmation. Positive affirmation is EVERYTHING with this breed, they can be very far away when you command the next time. Safe Calm works very very well for this breed, they don't need "leash pressure", they pull wagons for fun, they need to know WHY they're having fun!!!

Kc Lee The only way to keep dogs from running away is to make them want to stay. It all begins in the home. As long as all their needs are being met they have no reason to take off. I don't mean food, water, love etc. I'm talking about the specific needs of ur specific breed. Figure out what makes ur particular dog tic. I could let my dogs out front and shut my front door and an hour later I know they would both be sitting on my top step still waiting for me to let them in. I would never do it but I know I could. I hope you ur baby/babies are doing well. Best of luck. Feel free to pick my brain. Lol I'm a wealth of useless knowledge.

So sad.!!. What happened Larry?? ...I know what my answer is ....My Bouvier pup was 8 weeks old when I took him home, never messed in the HOUSE once let alone his crate!!! Easiest pup I've ever trained .He will be 11 in April 2022...I've had GSDs for 43 yrs Bouviers are an extremely smart breed and easy to train,if you know what you're doing!! Different then GSDs tho.. Good advice Larry!!!..,puppies ARE sponges ,too bad so many people mess them up!! Love Dexter!! Would love to see him as an adult..if he ever comes back !!

Just bought a 2 month old Rottweiler and when ever I leave him in the backyard and go inside for 10 seconds he jumps on door and scratches on the fly screen and won’t stop crying, how do I fix this?

I love the breed, but in the Flemish region, we don't see them much, same as Poodles and GSDs are also rare, in the 80's and 90's you saw them a lot more. What we see are Pitbull kinda breeds and Rotties and mostly missed dog training or socialization, what makes them dangerous. I adopted a stray dog from Eastern Europe, it's a shepherd dog for sure, because he has everything what my GSD's had in the past. But if we go outside, he's so anxious. So I guess he had bad experiences where he comes from. Not easy to get that out of him. Although I trained him and can walk without a leach. But I keep trying to get his attention when going outside. Greetz from Belgium. PS Your posture is also important, when I see some people, they almost crawl on the ground to get to the height of the dog. That's no leadership, bravo for that :)
I had a Bernese mountain dog puppy in for a residency training that LOVED to shit AAAALLLL over himself and every square inch of his kennel!!!! Never did this at home in his crate... Just started it up special for me!
I have a 3 month old Goldendoodle. If we are outside, I might as well not exist. He is just sniffing, and pulling at the leash, and trying to eat anything he can get in his mouth. Until he decides that he wants to chew on my pants, then he acknowledges me. Well, my pant cuffs anyhow...
Bouvier...the only dog I've ever been attacked by. Owner sent it to board to be taught to guard. Hard to believe that adorable bouncy little ball of fur that is soooo happy to please could be twisted into something vicious at the hands of idiots

André I. His dogs are off leash outside from day one. They're on leash in the house in the beginning.

What's with the ears and the tail?
a. Noniem it’s breed standard to crop ears and tails. Cropping the ears helps prevent ear infections.
