Le plus "drôle" c'est que Lemond se pronounce comme en français, je comprends mal pourquoi les annonceurs, journalistes etc n'ont pas simplement prononcé son nom correctement pendant toutes ces années. Un grand Monsieur.

J'étais plutôt supporter de Greg Lemond mais sur les pentes à 4 km de La Plagne on était témoin d'un super Laurent Fignon ! Comme "petit Belge" en vacances en Haute-Savoie avec mes parents ça reste un des plus beaux souvenirs de ma jeunesse ! R.I.P. Laurent Fignon. 🙏🚴♂️🇫🇷Merci Greg Lemond ! 🙏🚴♂️🇺🇸 2 champions et surtout êtres humains extraordinaires ! 🙏🏆🥇❤
Si fignon a été blessé à la selle, c'est que son corps était épuisé, du fait de lemon...si fignon ne s'est pas senti capable de prendre un nouveau guidon...c'est qu'il était cuit...

I AGREE anytime ive heard of fignon and lemond together it always upset fignon...im glad that they are talking and freindly..god knows they were both amazing cyclist..NOW if we could get Hinualt and lemond together..that would be like the beatles getting together for me!
I’m French, and I see this as sport and sportsmanship. Both Greg and Laurent are champions in their own right. It hurts me to hear other people mentioning the 1989 Tour de France as the first fact they remember of Fignon, instead of the 2 Tours he won in 1983 and 1984. Everyone has ups and downs, and life is about rising, falling and resurfacing. Rest In Peace, Laurent, I really wish he were still with us. Congratulations to Gregory, and may he be strong in his hardship !
Greg says he does talk with Hinault if he runs into him, so I guess they aren't fueding--just not 'brothers' anymore. LeMond said that they were like brothers in the 80's but that tour broke that up.
I always thought that Fignon looked more the classic cyclist than anyone else: long flat back, streamlined, powerful - nothing like the cramped upright look of today's cyclists and carbon-plastic bicycles.

I can't get over how graceful Fignon is today. How graceful he is 18 years later. Lemond is awesome. He is more popular in France than in the US.

Fignon and LeMond, very classy. Laurent's loss is felt through out the sport, what a great gentleman.

It was the 89 Tour that got me interested in cycle racing. Unfortunately, nothing has been close since.
