  • Let's talk menstrual cups vs menstrual discs. How are they different? Are they both similar to use? Is one better than the other?
In short: menstrual discs are shallow and wide while menstrual cups are long and narrower making discs better for those of us with low cervixes. Menstrual discs are also better for people with IUDs as they do not suction and do not run the risk of your IUD being ripped out. They are similar costs, are similar to use, and can be worn for similar amounts of time. I personally find menstrual discs easier to use. Which one are you going to try?

I like the cup so much better than a disc. I've been wearing a cup for two years now and decided recently to try a disc. I found it so difficult to maneuver and with a high cervix, it just never felt like it was secure enough and I spotted way too much. The cup goes in easy, feels more secure, and holds everything - but everyone is different

i have the same problem i bought the disc and i leak pretty easily and my periods are harsh so when i take it out to empty it hurts soo bad it feels like it suctions on. i might just try the cup instead.

I really don’t know whether I like discs or cups more. I’ve been using discs more lately because they’re more fool proof (specifically the Hello and Cora brand discs) for me, but I still like how cups work for me

people with high cervixes can still struggle with a menstrual cup. if you look at the menstrual cup reddit a lot of people say that discs are easier with a high cervix bc it uses the pubic bone and not the vagina to hold it.

Thing is though, the disc is inserted higher up than a cup. A lot of people with high cervixs struggle with a disc that doesn't have a long removal aid

I think i have a low cervix (not sure) so this might encourage me to try a disc but i have a mental block and dont think i feel that comfy with my body (took me many mamy years just to learn tampons, still struggling with cups)

A disc is so so simple. I couldn’t get used to tampons and the cup was a constant issue for me but the disc was gold from day 1 wear 1. I, literally, don’t know it’s there all day and I don’t experience the cramping that tampons and cups cause me. Please give it a go, it really is life changing

I was using a small disk with no issues for months while I was celibate. Now I have a partner and it doesn’t fit anymore 😂 I guess I have to switch to the larger size? Why can’t anything be simple for women!

Same i prefer menstrual cup because it's eco friendly and easy to use..and yes I am a virgin too..also if you buy a menstrual cup make sure it's your size like small, medium or large and I use a small because am 17. Pads contribute to pollution so I avoid buying pads as much as possible..it's okay to feel uncomfortable using menstrual cup for the first time because I did feel it too so here's what I did..I inserted the cup when I was not on my period to get used to it..I slept on it and even went to school..and I started using it while I was on my period and it's comfortable for me now..people are rlly uneducated on this and I wish people would give it a try before saying no to this.

I just purchased a pair of discs to try. This, after having tried the cup twice. The firs time, I almost passed out trying to get the cup out and the second time, I passed completely out and hit my head on my tub. Am I going to pass out with the disc, too? I'm scared! 😩

I really can't be the one to tell you. That's judging your own body and talking to a doctor and potentially working through any nervousness you have aruond it

Quick question: I am quite tight up there as I am a virgin. This is also the reason I stopped using the cup because it HURT so so bad to insert. I tried 3 different types and they all hurt. Once they were in it was fine but the actual insertion hurt like heck. I have quite bad cramps so its already pretty spicy to put anything up there. Are the discs easier to insert??

    • @TheSimpleEnvironmentalist
      @TheSimpleEnvironmentalist  8 месяцев назад +2

I find them easier but they are still big so it could still be painful but I am not sure. You could consult your doctor

I used to use the Soft Disc disposables, had to stop using bc they kept coming out bc I had pooping problems. I'm looking into Reusable discs rather than cups bc I know how to use a disc and seems easier than using cups.

I’m trying the disc for the first time and the only thing throwing me off is it not suctioning or sealing. If it doesn’t do that am I really safe??? 😅 learning curb

My issue is that it always hurts when I put the cup in. Like the insertion process hurts and I’ve only ever gotten suction successfully like twice. Where does the disc sit vs the cup and how can I know if I have a high or low cervix?

    • @TheSimpleEnvironmentalist

you can measure with your finger! If you can touch your cervix with your index finger, it's average to low. If you cannot touch your cervix, it's average to high
