Nice job! Can I make a suggestion? Your lighting for the engineer bay shots is quite poor, makes it hard to see. I'm just pointing this out so that we can see the 2.5 swap properly when it happens!
I know its an old video but I recently bought and installed the aem cai on my 06 nc1 miata and after around 20 miles i got a cel so i grabbed my obd2 scanner and it said "mass air flow circuit high input". should i go get it tuned? (edit), I forgot to mention I drove the car later and the cel was gone but i scanned again and the code was still there
Hey Marc, is the intake noise different in person than in this video? The revs and exhaust seemed to block out any intake noise. If so, at what rpm range do you get a nice sound in neutral/under load? Thank you for your time!!
Totally off topic...do you think I'd need a new wiring harness to do an auto to manual swap? Or think I can adapt the auto one. Thanks and love your channel, nice job on the 2.5
Hi! Just wanna thanks for making videos on the NC. Our community is so small. Would this fit on a 2.5 swapped nc or would I buy a mazda 3 (where my swap is from) cold air intake?
I just ordered mine, but my engine is just stock, o loved how it sounds! Do u think i need to do something to the ECU? Or it will be good just with the install, im don't wanna touch anything just a cool sound. Thanks!
Really appreciate your efforts at showing how certain mods can be done by shade tree mechanics. One suggestion would be to use a light source while filming the areas that are hard to see with only ambient light sources. I think it would improve your presentation and provide the detail guys like me really appreciate. Thanx for all your postings, Doc.
Please answer this question!!! I wasn’t able to hear very much intake noise. Sounded like any noise it produced was masked by your engine’s revs and your exhaust. There’s a couple of other videos on YT that create this same audio. Can you tell me if there’s nice, substantial intake noise in person? And if so, at what rpm range do you get the intake sound in neutral/under load? I want to install this on my NC but only if the intake sound is loud enough/sharp enough to warrant almost $400. Hopefully you take the time to reply. Thanks!
I'm having the same issue. made sure everything was tight. If you found an answer, what did you do. I was thinking that it needs an Etune, but I'm not sure
People are flat wrong if they think cold air intake doesn't do anything. Example ; if you ever watch NASCAR you will hear them talk about how the cars need to get out of the dirty air so they can get into cooler air so the driver can pass other cars.
I was wondering, can you help us to change the pcv valve? We need your help with a video .... that will be good for my miata, and yours too. Thank you so much
Cause is something good to change... Well, my miata had 125k miles so I'm planning to do it, it helps you to be sure that your car doesn't burn oil and I was asking you because at RUclips nobody have a miata NC taking out the pcv valve... just because... Even if you don't do it, I'm gonna do it... thank your videos, it really helps me a lot....
Ah that's why, when you unplug the battery, your ECU needs to relearn. It will all go back to normal after you start driving it for some miles. Drive around the city, start stops, speed up and get on the highway. It just needs a drive cycle
Hey man , looks so clean , i want to do the same but im afraid about water getting in somewhere , its raining a lot where i live , what do you think … would it be a problem ? Thanks !
I am subscribed to your channel and appreciate all the work you do yourself on your car. I just can't fathom why anyone would spend big money an a CAI,that requires removing the front bumper in order to clean or replace the filter. Also if the filter is oiled it will dirty up the mass air flow sensor over time.
W G On the factory 2.0 I completely agree, the factory air box is very well designed and pulls in air from about the same spot. But with the bigger displacement of the 2.5 it’s silly to try and make that extra displacement breathe through a system designed for an engine that’s 20% smaller. This seems more like a mod in preparation for the 2.5 than a stand-alone mod.
4 HP butt dyno? oh yeah....intake noise...........watch those puddles. Thanks for the video....don't think U need a tune...for the air intake upgrade. Hey thanks for the video
Hi does anybody else think it might be venerable to water Ingres I would hate your engine to get hydro locked the 5 is a low car standard and this increases the risk of damage.
@@ColoredinLight yea if life was always that simple and the rain only ever fell when you used your other car. Just pointing out a possible problem and missing puddles was the complete cure never mind a truck or car splashing you. But hey ho fingers crossed it never happens.
I mean that's the answer to the question though, if it rains or has a chance of rain, I drive the other car or avoid puddles. If people worry about sucking up water, they shouldn't buy this part.
I totally disagree that a cold air intake doesn't do anything. Physics destroy that theory, anytime you can push more and cooler air into an engine the fuel burns faster and more efficient. Obviously you may need to add larger injectors and maybe a tune.
I just did a exhaust on mine and the intake is my next mod.
I enjoy all your videos. I would recommend to use additional lighting to film installations for better quality videos.

Nice cold air intake looks super clean
Lets go!! I love the aem intake was well worth the mod after the tuning process. Great video brotha
Thanks man! I need to get an ecutek cable again!
Colored in Light I know someone that will let you “borrow” theirs in exchange for some work on their car. 😜
Sweet NC! I would invest in some appropriate shop lighting to illuminate your garage or at least a magnetic LED work light.

I don't think a tune will fix an issue with the sensor, maybe dirty? They're fairly cheap to replace as well.
Thanks a lot. I installed mine this week and this video really helped.

For cleaning the filter do you need to remove the bumper? I have one on mine as well and can't find any cleaning info online.
You can remove the bumper or remove the splash shield underneath and reach in

It's all the same so you would be fine. Just order for an NC Miata.
@@ColoredinLight Thanks man! Looking forward to seeing your car up and running!
Hopefully soon!!
My 2007 GT came with a CAI stock. Love the sound! Great video as usual!
I just ordered mine, but my engine is just stock, o loved how it sounds!

I ordered the same thing but I wanna mount it higher because it’s my daily drive and it rains a lot here is modifying the tube posibble
You can get rain socks for the filters
Please answer this question!!!

Exhaust makes a better and louder noise
So my friend installed this on the car however it’s struggling to stay on. What do you think it might be
I'm having the same issue. made sure everything was tight. If you found an answer, what did you do. I was thinking that it needs an Etune, but I'm not sure
@@jonathanparkhurst1080 his issue at the time was one of the pipes was in wrong and the MAF sensor was put in wrong as well
Was there any issues connecting the 1Goal Manifold up to this intake? Did you also upgrade to the 70mm TB?
I don't have a 1goal manifold
Apologises. Just read you were installing one in the future and figured since this is a year old, thought it might of happened :)
Loving the Chillhop music.
Glad you're liking it
Would a new Throttle Body be a good upgrade? Looking to buy the “Grams NC Miata 70mm Throttle Body” but not sure if its worth it?
Reputable tuners have said it is not worth it. Save your money
Did you need a tune for your car to run after?
No

That’s aerodynamics dumb ass

I'm gonna do it... thank your videos, it really helps me a lot....
Well I'm not gonna do a video, sorry about my English I'm learning it and maybe sounds rude for you; my bad...
I installed this same product on my 2010 miata and now it’s idling lower at around 750rpm and is lowkey sputtering, what should I do to fix idle?
Did you unplug the battery? Sounds like you have an air leak somewhere. Or your MAF is dirty or damaged.
Colored in Light yeah I had the battery unplugged
Ah that's why, when you unplug the battery, your ECU needs to relearn. It will all go back to normal after you start driving it for some miles. Drive around the city, start stops, speed up and get on the highway. It just needs a drive cycle
Are you worried about water getting onto the CAI?
Not really, in a few months the car wont see anymore wet weather and I have to put the little water sock on it too
Bro a lowkey and dope build keep it up bro bro 🙏🤙❤️
Appreciate it
I just bought a NC1 2.0 any group suggestions on where to find used mods like this....thanks!!!
Facebook for sure

Probably
Just installed mine 😁
nice sound

I dont need the retune but i would recommend it if you have paid for the tuning already.
working on my money pit also.
Just don’t try going through floods more than 6” deep!
