It's Day 12 at the 2023 New Year's Tournament. Many people are flocking to the Kokugikan to watch sumo live. At the same time, the fans are having the time of their lives eating delicious food and buying rare souvenirs at the Kokugikan. Spending a day inside the arena is almost like going to an amusement park, as the place is filled with so much joy. So, by all means if you have a chance, go to Ryogoku and enjoy the day at the home of sumo, Kokugikan. I promise. You won't regret. Now, inside the ring, there's a fierce championship race taking place both in the top makuuchi and in the second-tier juryo division. Is it going to be Takakeisho winning his third title? Or will a rank-and-file combatant win the Emperor's Cup for the fourth consecutive tournament? And in Juryo, things are likely to come down to these two stalwarts: Kinbozan from Kazakstan and Asanoyaya the former ozeki. Without a doubt, we're headed for another nail biting finish, so don't take your eyes off from the New Year's tourney and make sure to tune in to the coverage of the final days on SUMO PRIME TIME. Arigato!
love the little tour around the Kokugikan. really makes me want to come visit even more. food and merchandise look incredible way better than what I have seen here from sports in the UK. My money is on Onosho he looks too strong, which is a shame as I am big Takakeisho fan. Deep down I really root for them all.
Major props to Hiro Morita & Sumo Prime Time. Your work illuminating the world of Sumo to those of us outside Japan is exemplary. Thank You so very much for enriching the sport for us.
Thank you for your videos about the Sumo tournaments and other things about Sumo wrestling! I live in the U.S. and I would love to help promote this sport and Japanese culture, too! I wish I could watch the tournament daily with commentaries by retired wrestlers! Thank you! Love your videos! 😊
Please allow Nattosumo to post his summary videos. He massively improves upon the NHK's presentation of the competitions. Most English viewers have no other way to access the matches. Please allow Natto to promote Sumo to the world!
SUMO PRIME TIME!...I so dearly want to visit again and see a Basho. I was very happy to see they have an English version of the Kokugikan flyer of vending areas.
I enjoy your little tour! The rikishi tea bags are hilarious! However, I only watch half of the video now, bcoz I want to watch ALL the matches (from some other videos), so no spoilers :-) Will watch the remaining halves some other time
I've heard so much about the food you can buy at the Kokugikan and really want to try the yakitori and some of those desserts! It's great that fans are able to eat in their seats again starting this tournament, so you don't have to miss any of the action
On another TV Show, there is a gacha machine which capsules contain a sheet telling your fortune and a rikishi’s face. I wonder if it was among the gacha machines in Kokugikan
please sumo prime time, feature more hoshoryu! All the people from the international sumo fan community love him! He was the most dominant at the beginning of the tournament, but is now struggling to win his 8th due to his injured ankle!
Hey Hiro! Can you explain why some Rikishi tape their fingers together. (Like Daieisho). Is it to prevent strains and injuries or is it something else?
Every video mentions previous day bouts. And it literally announces its about to talk about the days matches. At that point you might should use your brain and turn off the video if you don't want to see it. have a good day.

Those awkwardly long pauses after saying 'sumo prime time' are just golden lol.
8:30 Hiros got a fan
Amazing!! Hahah
Love it!!
Imagine going to an NFL stadium and buying chicken wings from a former player and hall of famer?
Chances are Dude would have CTE & not remember who he was & what he did to get there !
That happens at Camden yards in Baltimore, you buy pit beef from boogs. He isn't a hall of famer, but a past orioles star.

Hiro has so much fun doing these, and it shows through in the video. Love it.
I can't wait for Asanoyama's return to Makuuchi
Hiro deeply enjoying food while doing his usual Sumo Prime Time moves is so blessed
Thanks Hiro! Let's get the International audience a way to watch the entire basho online! JSA needs an online broadcast service.
Thank you Hiro for showing stuff that I would never get to see!
Didn't know kokugikan had a cool food section. Also it's great that you can essentially meet the formoer Yokozuna while buying bread and candy!
thank you for the tour Hiro, cant wait to attend a tournament
Shibatayama is a very humble person to be doing that as an ex Yokozuna! He seems like a good man, very much respect!
The "photo bombing" at the end was hilarous (starting at 8:35)! Anyone know who that was? Obviously a fan of Sumo Prime Time. :)
Major props to Hiro Morita & Sumo Prime Time.
Your work illuminating the world of Sumo to those of us outside Japan is exemplary.

Love it! So jealous of the merch, I want the tea cup rikishi too lol!
Hiro is great

Hiro is truly a legend
i'm gonna go there and buy everything, specially Ura-related XD

Love the enthusiasm as always and the fact you're having your best time just for us!!!
Really enjoy learning what it’s like to be at a tournament. The food looked really good.
This filled me with entirely too much joy…
Entertaining and informative as always, SumoPrimeTime team!

A Takakeisho lunchbox....how fitting lol
Who's the person behind Hiro doing the pushing pose in the last segment? 🤣🤣🤣
I enjoy your little tour! The rikishi tea bags are hilarious! However, I only watch half of the video now, bcoz I want to watch ALL the matches (from some other videos), so no spoilers :-) Will watch the remaining halves some other time
This is the video I was waiting for.
I've always wondered what are the food arrangements in this magnificent whole day event.
I've heard so much about the food you can buy at the Kokugikan and really want to try the yakitori and some of those desserts! It's great that fans are able to eat in their seats again starting this tournament, so you don't have to miss any of the action

I wanna those Tea boys 🤣🙌🍵 thanks Hiro

Great show, thank you.
Sure would be awesome to go there !
Love the tour! Will visit agian soon thanks to this video! PS...when are the fans getting SPT gear and merch?
I hope I can visit the Kokugikan again.
Free Nattosumo!! The man does impeccable work JSA!!
Hi from Brazil
I would spend sooo much money on sumo gachapon ...
Hey Hiro!
Can you explain why some Rikishi tape their fingers together. (Like Daieisho). Is it to prevent strains and injuries or is it something else?
lol 5:18 watch the right hand corner
Is the souvenir shop and the gacha machines also open on even months without tournaments?
I would like to see Hiro interview jaso from Jason's all sumo chanel.
I want that rikishi tea...
A spoiler alert about the ongoing basho would have been nice.
Every video mentions previous day bouts. And it literally announces its about to talk about the days matches. At that point you might should use your brain and turn off the video if you don't want to see it. have a good day.
Why Ura throw just a little little pinch of salt ??
Disappointing that Takakeisho let his chance slip away. Can't see him winning it now. Onosho would need to choke for that to happen.
domo
Well hello again Hiro Cringita!
NHK propose a decent way to see sumo in europe instead of ban YT vidéos promoting this sport ! -_-
NHK is dishonest for terminating Jason, Kintamayama and Natto sumo channels. JSA talk to NHK and right this wrong.
Love your videos, but please don't put the winner of the Basho on the thumbnail; it spoiled it for me last tournament.
Please, please, please reduce the level of the music. Even when you aren't wearing a mask you are barely audible over that irrelevant din.
love this small videos of daily info of tournament with sumo related information.
