HAY SHIF ( D ), I NOTICED YOU SEEM TO BE GETTING' ALONG PRETTY WELL WITH THAT BOX WEDGE. MAYBE YOU CAN PICK A USED ONE UP SOMEWHERE. YOUR WOODYARD IS A LOT LIKE THE COASTLINE; AFTER EVERY STORM, YOU ALWAYS COME UP WITH NEW REAL ESTATE. HOW COOL IT MUST BE TO HAVE A COSTCO CLOSE BY. I WORKED FOR THEM FOR 22 YEARS. I OPERATED A FORKLIFT IN THE FREEZER/COOLER SECTION. FUNNY, AFTER ALMOST TWO YEARS OF NOT WORKIN' THERE, I STILL RECOGNIZE MOST OF THE BOXES... STAY COOL BROTHER... PEACE...

In summer time when the heavier fruit (like melons) and vegetable spieces are in large number imported from Southern Europe, we can pickup cases in wood at the mall. Excellent for storing (stacks easy) and bringing in wood - 1 case is for me roughly 1 evening of burning (approx 8-10 kg of dry wood).
And if they start to fall apart or are from a lesser quality, I make free kindling out of them. My son likes to crush these things 😄

That's a good thing you Did my Friend. I put all my Slash in Apple Boxes and use as needed in my Woodstove. It comes in handy to get your Fire Going and Keep it Going. Not doing to good just taking it easy for a Few Days. Tell Amanda Happy Mothers Day also. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.

You should consider revamping and reorganizing your woodyard for optimal workflow

The new configuration looks great. Soon you’ll need to extend the carport!

Good idea on the boxes. I did that last year with the slash and gave them away as kindling boxes. 😉👍

Every now & then they have some nice sturdy ones with high sides that work really well.

Great COSTCO box idea for slash & off cuts! Firewood lot organization would be a good podcast topic! Tim in northern TN

Try using rebar tie wire to keep the slash bundles tight. Single wire in the middle as it will slow down the burn time!

If that was my set up, I would line up your slanted roof storage sheds in line with the roof pitch of the larger shed to act as a wind block and water run off. Leaving it open on the ends. This would give you more under roof room to move around and allow for a complete drive around the buildings. If done right you still could have your totes filled and wagon filled with access for loading and unloading on either end.,

      @Back40Firewood  Месяц назад

I had it on the side before and wasn't enough room to drive around it...and the rain would actually hit and bounce back inside the carport when falling off the roof above it.

Dan, looking good with the box blade. Do you have a connection for cheap asphalt millings ? I guess, gravel would be a fortune. I appreciate your constant pursuit to optimize your woodyard and diversify your product offerings. (Mini firewood)

That loop will help with drainage problems, but you will need to add a few inches inside the carport to really be dry.

That was a great idea for getting rid of the "junk" "slash" that comes with wood!! Chuck it into the boiler in cardboard. Now I just need to start saving Beer Boxes😂🤣😂🤣🍻

I’d save all that kindling and just shovel it into the boiler. It owes you nothing and at the end of the season it’ll add up to a few weeks of free heat. It all adds up!

    More roof, allways more roof.
And drain area, I see that new ground getting real soft when wet.
I'd have a gutter on the big roof, but I measure my rain in feet, not inches.
    .
I'd probably turn the wolf around so the lift arm is to the open side.

I might flip the Wolfe Ridge around, however then I'd need to be able to drive all the way through from the front of the carport to drop rounds off for it. The ground is really sandy back there, very rare to see any puddles even after heavy rain.

QQQ Hi Dan I have One thought for you I've Seen Some Farmers use an Old Oil Tank and Make a Cooker out of Them Would you Consider Putting your Extra Slash Pieces to Burn it to Heat you outside When your Splitting firewood 👍

Looking better, Dan. How are you going to load the lift on the Wolf Ridge without ducking under the metal siding? Did you see John's (fricknjeep) video dedicated to you and bundles?
